    great video! in my opinion the ce-1 preamp sounds best when blended with amp distortion. the ce-1 preamp clipping can be a bit inconsistent, which means it's very sensitive to picking dynamics which is nice. but if you use it for a slight crunch it will not sound quite like a good edge of breakup tone, and if you turn it up where it really clips, it'll sound muddy and make your other pedals sound weird... it's quite a finnicky pedal, it's definitely not necessary. and i think the most important thing about it is NOT the crunch, but the coloring the preamp gives your tone. using it low so it doesn't clip will still give you a different tone, and it can sound really frusciante on non-fru amps, like a 5 watt fender for example.

    • @ivansindicic5960
      @ivansindicic5960 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the same, CE1 can be weird as a plexi 100w tube amp can be, finding right ammount of clean on plexi and adding just a bit of CE1 color is a match for a good tone, to much ce1 breaks everything about good tone.

    Sound of origin one is slightly thicker and more smooth than reissued one but reissued ensemble preamp is very nice option because of its price and size. I am using a preamp crunch of Pastfx and it’s very good as ensemble crunch in the video.

    Ok that Gong Li verse caught me totally off guard. I just bought another cheap alternative clone for the CE-1 preamp called Octopus, made by Kappa Eletronics, a brazilian company that makes handmade pedals. They are very unique in terms of design and extremely bang for the buck considering their price.
    It didn't arrive yet but I can't wait to try it out. I had to choose this one because the other one I was looking at, the JFX Empyrean, was very expensive even considering all its functionalities. By any chance have you ever heard of it?

    another thing to be said which took me a while to figure out, high impedance mode will not work if you're using maxed out ds2, high output settings on pedals, and a powerful boost... but high impedance sounds better. i ended up matching my output on my pedals to my dry signal, removed the boost pedal entirely (i used a boost to match my dry output to a maxed ds2/fuzz) and then i was able to use high impedance (fru used low impedance during stadium arcadium tour). high impedance sounds a bit better, and frusciante is now roughly matching his pedals to dry output + using high impedance

    • @WillGalluccio
      @WillGalluccio 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The DS2 + High mode thing has got to do mostly with Phase. High mode inverts phase, so the distortion pedals tone changes quite a lot.. I’ve got a video on my channel explaining this behavior

    Dit is een topvideo. Wat ik echter niet begrijp is dat veel mensen de bas op de Silver Jubilee op 10 hebben en de treble heel laag en dat hij toch heel 'bright' klinkt. Ik krijg dat tot nu toe nog niet voor elkaar met mijn Silver Jubilee Studio, ondanks mijn PastFX Chorus Ensemble CE-1 clone. Is dat een kwestie van de plek waar de microfoon op de speaker staat of misschien omdat het in stereo is? Hi, I have a Grobert the one pedal, which is similar to your triangulo labs pedal, my question is, because it acts as a boost pedal, to get colour I have to crank it past 12 oclock, but then it’s loud as and my amp needs to be on almost 0.5 volume (Marshall origin 50 head) which is cranking the valves, my question is, could I run it first in my pedal chain before the compression which tames the volume and keeps colour, or still run it last and just turn down the knob?

    • @RedHotChiliRiffs
      @RedHotChiliRiffs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the best way is to turn up the CE-1 boost to get the color and grit and then go to a compressor to tame the output volume. It’s not ideal because you’re not really driving the tubes of your amp but it’s the best option of the two…
