🍃Citric acid information:
When citric acid and sodium hydroxide lye (NaOH) are combined, sodium citrate is created. Sodium citrate works as a chelator in soap.
A chelator traps metal ions such as calcium and magnesium that can be found in tap water.
These metal contaminants can cause rancidity and soap scum in handmade soap.
A chelator binds to these metals so that they can’t bind to the soap molecules. This way the soap won’t react with them and the soap's lather improves + shelf life increases.
Citric acid does not lower the pH of soap. Instead it consumes some of the lye and increases the superfat. Add 6 g extra lye for every 10 g of citric acid added to a soap recipe if you want to keep the superfat % at the same level.
How much citric acid should be added to soap?
Usage rate in bar soap is 1-2% of the oil weight.
How to use citric acid
Add citric acid to the distilled water and dissolve completely before adding the lye, or make a separate solution of citric acid and distilled water and add to the oils.

I would love to see a recipe for liquid soap in your channel one day❤
❤❤❤❤ ماشاء الله تبارك الله
I,M too 😊
Me too
This soap is very close to Aleppo soap. I also infuse oliv oil with diverse dried herbs but I use an instant pot. I grind the herbs ( 150 grams per litre of oil) than put them in instant pot with the oil, choose yoghurt function and keep the oil inside overnight. Works very well.
I purchased 53 g of organic bay leaves for under $3 from Rollin Oats. I have a Blusky machine that quickly (1hr) extracts the bay leaf into the olive oil. Since I was too lazy to cook the soap I make cold process and will cut tomorrow and age 9 months just in time for Christmas gifting! Thank you for this video. It truly inspired me to make olive oil soap again.
Amazing! Glad to hear🤗
Where do I find this machine ?
I made Aleppo type soap using Laurel berry oil and pure olive oil and let it cure for an entire year. I was about to not make It anymore but I have a client that buys it in bulk. Have an end piece in my bathroom and lathers pretty well thought. Maybe we don’t need to wait an entire year, yay. Beautiful soap and amazing video as always. Blessings
Isn’t it laurel berry oil in Aleppo soap?
@@ismulders6129 yes, just noticed the typo, thank you. Mine is from Syria
Thank you so much! Your soap sounds great😊 I don't think it needs to cure for a whole year but it definitely benefits from a longer cure
@@tellervo. indeed, thank you
My mom just pruned her laurel tree and I have a couple of branches full of aromatic leaves, you inspired me to make this soap, so naturally beautiful, thank you for sharing your experience and creativity. (I love the crisp delicate sounds of your videos)
That's great🤗 Thank you!
Thank you for your video i just finished pooring my soap into pringles can hhh thanks for the idea. The lather is very good.
I have just been watching your videos and it feels so calming and therapeutic. I tried making my first batch of cp soap before I watched your video, it came out well but didn’t last for a long time while using.
I was looking for the French soap version of Savon marseille as I love the texture and also I guess they last longer.
Please share your views as I’m soo keen to know and would love to make an all Olive oil soap
Can you show us comparison with all of your soaps? I think it will be wonderful to see different shades and colours of each herb😍
yeah little exhibition / display :)
انا معجبه جداً بكل شي تقدمينه وتعلمت منك الكثير وانا فخوره بالاتقان الذي وصلت له من بعد متابعتي لك ، شكراً من اعماق قلبي❤❤
Favorite soap in my country, Greece, for body and hair..❤
Yes that's great😊💝
This soap is gorgeous! How do you know how much dried products to use to infuse in oil? Thank you! 🌷
Awwww always love the aesthetic of your soaps!!!❤ sending love and support
You're so sweet thank you🤗💝
I love u so much ..i follow u i learn too much for made soap
Leaves Can be processed in a blender, dry, a handful at a time. If you want power, then process in a coffee grinder.
I shall always love your soaps❤
You're so sweet💝
希望有一天能看妳做鹽析皂(salting out soap),好喜歡妳的影片
Thank you! I would love to try it in the future😊
Wow! I would have never thought to make my own laurel berry oil. The last time I bought some, it was very expensive. Can't wait to try to make my own. Question. Can I use this recipe to make using cp method? Thank you! Beautiful soap!
Awesome🤗 Thank you! Yes you can make it cold process, i would recommend reducing the water a bit though
Beautiful color.
Thank you!
Im going to try this. Ive made one batch of Aleppo style soap but with Laurel berry oil which I paid $50.00 for 16 oz weight. (Including delivery) most expensive 8 bars I've ever made.
I will do this method next time. The color is perfect and I wonder if it still has that divine smell.
That's super expensive! The smell doesn't last long unfortunately🌷
ضعي 5𝗀 سكر مع كمية الملح التي أضفتيها سيعطيك رغوة أكثر
Absolutely Awesome ❤❤❤
Thank you💝
Thanks tellervo🎉❤
My pleasure💝
That looks lovely
Thank you!
I use coffee grinder to grind dehydrated herbs and mushrooms :) .. as well I use DOTERRA essential oils ... they have many different kinds ........... :)
I should try a coffee grinder😊
Good afternoon. As always you do the best recipe and video. I made my soap yesterday based on this recipe. The CP was ok but when I cooked the soap didn't have the right result. I'm trying again next week . If I don't cook the soap after how many weeks will be ready to use????
May I know why steaming the soap after blending oil and water well? Anyone kindly advises? Tks in advance
This is basically a hot process soap that can be used safely as soon as it hardens in a day or two
@@cathygilani4663 thank u for reply! However the video still says “use after 6weeks”, it confused me a bit….im a new soap marker and my first bunch will be ready in 2weeks, can’t wait for that. I didn’t do the steaming step(it’s the 1st time I see)
An aleppo soap! Nice
Pretty much😊 thank you!
Nice soap and I'm really suprised that pure olive soap lathered this much from the beginning. What's the secret please?
Thank you, i was surprised too, i think the secret is just working up the lather for some time
@tellervo Thank you for sharing your knowledge i learn a lot from your chanel.Awesome!🍃❤👌🌻
Great to hear🤗💝
Wow!!! Amazing!!! What is the salt for?
Merci pour le partage j'adore vos videos
Thanks so much🤗
I like it very much, I can almost smell it ❤
Glad to hear💝
Es una bendición tu canal 🙏🙏🙏🙏, que Jehová te siga bendiciendo mucho
Thank you so much🤗
I make too. Thanks
I love this soap 😍😍 its our favorite in the Middle East. Can I make the same formula in cold process? And may I know why you added salt please? ❤️❤️
Awesome💝 Yes, but if you want, you can reduce the water a little bit. Olive oil soap can be a bit soft and slimy and salt can help with that
For what skin type is it good? I love it and will try it for sure 😊
It is good for dry and sensitive skin!
@@Christina_099
Thanks 😊
Is Bay Laurel good for the skin and does it scent the soap? Thank you for another wonderful video!
I haven't researched it much but i think so, it does not give a long lasting scent. Thank you so much!
I like so much thanks!!!
Thank you😊
Love it🥰 have you considered/tried infusing sous-vide? If so do you see a difference between the 2 methods since sous-vide supposed to speed up the infusion process? Thks ❤
Thanks💝 I have never tried it but it would be interesting to see🤗
Hello from Greece, ( again)! That looks amazing, but I wonder, why did you hot process? Wouldn't it be ready to mold after you cold processed it?
Thank you, I wanted to make a hot process soap because i think it's fitting for a olive oil soap😊
Mine didn't take long time to trace i used olive pomace oil.
هذه الطريقة تدعى النصف ساخنه
it’s such a a beautiful soap, one question, since it is made by 100% of olive oil, will it be too soft when use ?
Thank you! Yes olive oil soap is a softer soap. It will benefit from a longer cure and when using it's important to have a well draining soap dish so that the soap can dry between uses
Nice soap
How do you measure the pH of the soap? 😮
Is NAOH mandatory for soap??
What equipment do you use for your videos. Looks amazing. Thanks for sharing this great recipe ❤
Thank you💝 Basically a tripod and a pretty old camera, i use the canon eos m and in the winter i use a softbox to help with the lighting😊
@@tellervo.thanks
I have one of your books…looks forward to getting the other two….would you classify this soap as an Aleppo soap
Glad to hear🤗 I think you could call this an aleppo style soap😊
Grazie!❤
❤️
I have a laurel tree outside my pottery studio so am wondering if I can use fresh leaves? (PS just made your 100% coconut oil soap 😊)
That's awesome😊 Sure you can!
Have you tried using a coffee grinder instead of that pestle, ive also seen a hack someone used the stick blender upturned with shrink wrap over it and blitzed away😅
I should try something like that, not sure i'd dare try the stick blender😁
@@tellervo. I know knowing my look it would end up all over my kitchen.
Vielen Dank
How long it took to cook the soap? Never made hot process soap but I would like to try
It took maybe 45 minutes to 1 hour😊
From where do you purchase essential oils, fragrance oil and other raw materials for soap making.
I'm in Finland so I usually get them from a local supplier🙂
Why you always made soap with citric acide ? I want to know what he do to sop when you add it 😊 your fan from algeria🇩🇿❤️
I have written about it in the description box🤗💝
@@tellervo. Ohh i didn't see it thank you 🌸🥰
هذا عندنا في العراق 🇮🇶 نسميه صابون الرقي وسعره مناسب إلى قليل لأنه يأتينا من سوريا بأسعار منخفضة وجودة عالية
Nice😊
What add for shelf life?
I had thought that by cooking the soap, the cure time would significantly reduce.
I haven't really found this to be the case. And since this is a 100% olive oil soap I would recommend curing it for an absolute minimum of 6 weeks
Laurel leaf is bay leaf?
yes😊
I can smell the herb all the way to Sweden 😎
Bay smells so good🤗
Where in Sweden are you?😊
@@tellervo. Far south! Near Kristianstad 😁
@@linasjostrand4034 nice😊
Hello from Greece..why did you cook the soap?
It's a hot process soap🙂
Does the citric acid make the lye not caustic?
no
Instead of olive can we use any other oils
It's the main ingredient for this particular recipe so no🙂
Is there another name for Laurel leave, I'm not sure I know that leaves. It looks like primento or guava
Its Bay leaf or Laurus nobilis
Bay leaf
@@soop4956 Thank you so much
Belle recette, dommage a chaud😢
Very nice supper ❤
Thank you💝
Why would I need to cure a cooked soap?
The water needs to evaporate and they do get milder and overall better with time
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I thiught utbtook at least a year for 100% olive oil soaps to cure
They get better with time, but they can be used after a short cure too
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
big kiss from tunisia love you too much sweety
