Lol literally me. I procrastinate so much I even procrastinate my procrastination by hitting watch later for everything on TH-cam when I have homework I need to do. It's so bad that I made a playlist called "Watch Later 2" lmao.
It's something I've observed with many of my projects, whether it's writing or drawing or doing some university homework - finding the motivation to start is the hardest part, but once you do start, you tend to go into that "rhythm" where you just keep going till you actually "get the shit done", at least if the project is small enough to do it in one sitting. With bigger projects that require a larger number of sessions to finish, things are obviously much harder. Also, I really envy George R.R. Martin. I have spent WAY too much time searching for a perfect writing app and getting distracted by trying out different tools instead of just writing. Hell, I still often do. But even though I mostly escaped this rabbit hole, I still can't imagine writing without some organizational and export tools that Scrivener offers. At the same time, I can totally see how writing in a minimal environment can be very productive. No hundreds of options to try out, no fonts to switch between, there is just the text and you.
I also have the issue of WHERE to start. For example, I need to study maths for college. I need to find videos/walkthroughs/tutorials to help me understand and fully learn the topics, (the classroom work is not to enough for me). So I spend time looking online for anything that might help. By that point I am mentally tired and frustrated from that and I need to leave it all for my next study session. Once I have everything in place and I can just pick-up-and-go it is easy.
"The fundamental fix to overcoming resistance in all its manifestations is to start." Patient: Doctor, I can't do anything. Doctor: Have you tried doing it? Patient: Oh wow! I'M CURED!
What do you do if you cannot start. If you only have maybe a vague idea of what to do but its not concrete enough to simplify so that I may progressively overload myself
I think I would need a bit more details to give useful advice. But maybe start with 10mins writing about the idea/ outlining what you want to do or 10min researching/ getting inspiration on the internet.
added this video to watch later see you in 4-5 years maybe
Same
this is a callout post

Paper?
Absolutely loved this. You have an amazing ability to articulate something so simple that many of us struggle with in our daily lives.

tl:dr: get away of distractions and start a routine, NOW!
these are some good points,
im a terrible procrastinator & i gotta get over that part &

It might not be the most apt to use George RR Martin as somebody as an example who gets things done.....
haha you might be right, but to be fair, he got quite a lot done in the past, and he probably still gets a lot done. Just not the one thing we need.
Great video, truely without bullshit and genuine want to help, ty
So underrated
yes, thank you sir
what is that thing on the left?
It's a sprocket hole. He's trying to make this look like a film.
It's just the filter
Kinda taky video, but it's heart is in the right place.
