  • I do some shooting with the new Beretta APX 9x19 pistol including an accuracy test and go over the features of the gun along with what I think of it overall.

    I first thought this was hideous and that I would hate it. I unfairly formed an opinion early and thought I'd never be able to get passed it... Then I held one. This thing feels fantastic. Now I want one. Just picked up a P320 so it will be awhile, but it's officially on the list.

    I have the APX, P10c, and FN 509. I prefer the APX over all of them. Thing is I didn't want to like it and now its my favorite!

      I chose the FN 509 over the APX in mid-2018. When Beretta lowered the price on the APX to $329 in late 2019, I snatched one up. I found another APX for the same price today so I grabbed it. I haven't been able to like the CZ P10c enough to buy one yet.

    Thanks for another great review of what I consider one of the best polymer framed striker fired pistols available. The firing pin safety pin that protrudes out of the top of the slide is a Beretta trait to let you know the firing pin safety is working. They have the same thing on their 92, PX4 and Nano series pistols so it is nothing new and to me it's a non issue.
    I'm looking forward to your complete review of CZs P10c which hopefully will be out later this month.

    Beretta lowered the price on the APX to $329 in late 2019. I bought one and I love it. After I bought it, I wished I'd bought two. I found another APX at the same dealer today (in the middle of the COVID19 outbreak) for the same price. So nice, I bought it twice!!

    Good video If I ever go to a striker fired pistol this will be a consideration.

  • @MrBigden37
    @MrBigden37 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The firing pin block/striker pin block protruding from the top of the rear of the slide is quite common on Beretta firearms as the trigger or striker is being released, including the 92FS, PX4's, etc. It's a visual clue. The PX4 subcompact is the only pistol in the stable where the firing pin block does not protrude from the top of the slide. I would certainly think you could easily mill or sand it down to get it from protruding from the slide if you wish or would have need to.

    the pop up striker safety is also used on the Beretta px4 series. the APX is comparable to the Steyr/Bubits designs with the ergonomics (the over hang over the web), the low bore, and the modular chassis design (that Sig borrowed for P320). From the outside they all look somewhat alike, but the real differences in pistols are in the mechanical design which to the general consumer doesnt seem like much, but that subtle design change can mean the difference between a good pistol and a great pistol. hope you NEVER actually have to need one but it's comforting to have.

    The slide cuts are excellent for manipulation. The grips is very nice too. I do like the trigger. My biggest complaint is the thickness of the slide. At the widest parts of the slide it is the same thickness as a Glock 21. Overall though I think it's a pretty good pistol.

    I held one at my local gun store, and while I like the gun in general, there is indeed something "off" about the trigger. I am with you in that I cannot quite determine what is up with it, but it feels different than any other striker trigger I have pulled. I am unlikely to purchase this one, but I am eagerly waiting for a compact or sub-compact version.

    damn nice looking and shooting. I shit one and was blown away at how it felt with a 6# trigger. I carry my m&p full size 9 with an apex flat trigger and forward set sear and the trigger had almost no travel breaking at 2.5# and I was still impressed with the Beretta. but let's face it the oldest arms manufacturer is not going to put out a shoddy B(g)lock or pig 320.

    Nice review. Looks like it has long slide rails? How is the polymer quality? Looks like it might be kinda soft and scratch easily. I really love the polymer on my PPQ. Super hard, high quality glass infused polymer.
    Which do you prefer between this, the P320 and the PPQ?

  • @mitchellderse1521
    @mitchellderse1521 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The point you made at the end of the video about the piece coming up and out of the slide, the Beretta M9s have something similar as well. Which is interesting since it is DA/SA gun and the APX is striker. I think it has to do with disengaging the sere. Just a guess.

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an indicator that tells you the firing pin safety is disengaged (when protruding). If the gun is in your holster and the pin is protruding, you know the safety isn't working and the gun needs service. In essence, it's a warning that the gun isn't drop safe. You will find this feature on many Beretta pistols. Years ago they had a patent on it.

      @tecobyrd937 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok thanks thats the only negative i found because i based me getting one off of your video you posted then mr guns and gear mentioned the reset but thanks i have one unrelated question would you say the cajunized p07 or p09 is as good as a cajunized shadow?

    • @AlabamaArsenal
      @AlabamaArsenal 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never shot the shadow, but since it starts as a higher level gun I would say that the cajunized shadow is better, I'm sure it will cost more though. Plus the Shadow is kind of a target gun versus the p07 is intended to be a defensive gun. Not that either couldn't fill either role.

    I wouldn't mind having one, the slide serrations did turn me off at first but they've grown on me. The do-hicky that pops up in front of the rear sight when pulling the trigger is kind of a deal breaker for me. Like the Chiappa Rhino red thing that pops out.

  • @JacksonWalter735
    @JacksonWalter735 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My father got the full size APX a few months ago for $399 before the $100 Beretta rebate. It's an excellent pickup at $299. While it's not my absolute favorite handgun, it's up there with some of the best. I think if more stores carried the APX (most gun stores I've been to usually just carry the 92 FS as the only Beretta pistol) it would be more popular.
    In case anyone bought any of the Beretta APX line (everything except the Carry version) from June 1st - July 31st 2019, you can get a $100 rebate as well!

    Looks pretty neat. Just a thought but I think if you shoot standing with hands and pistol maybe resting on one of the sides of your truck bed, you might get some better groups. When lying prone with a pistol people tend to bend their arms more causing your eyes and face to be too close to the pistol making it harder too shoot accurately.

    I do think the basic takedown and removal/insert of the serialized FCU of this aren't as simplistic as the P320. I'm not saying they're impossible, but I wonder if the P320 scored some points in those areas (assuming the APX was in the handgun competition).

      Really weird Beretta put one that would stick out on their strike fire pistol.

    LOL. I could probably pick up a couple of these before the CZ P-10c makes it to market...

    Gonna be my next gun purchase. I've always been a fan of the 92fs and really like the looks of the APX. This should give the other stricker fired handguns on the market a run for their money. Great review.

    In a over crowded polymer frame market it doesn't really stand out enough for me to wanna buy it. When you have companies like Canik and the new CZ P10c out there for less money it's a no brainer. But that's only my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. Lol. Great review though, always appreciate your hard work on this kind of stuff

    The APX looks pretty sweet in my eyes and it definitely runs nice. You must have been hiding the Mrgunsngear B channel from me lol, perhaps a link in the description will help get more traffic over there :-)

    How would this compare to the Springfield Armory XD Mod 2 or Gen 4 Glock? Considering all these options for a carry gun.

    GREAT vid, Mrgunsngear! Originally, the look of this was kind of "meh" for me. Seeing this in a two-tone coloration has me rethinking that. Hard to say if I definitely want it, but...

    Thank you for not calling a reversible mag release ambi. It drives me nuts when folks do that; it discredits the few manufacturers who actually make an ambi gun.

    Honestly, if I'm going to buy a Beretta I'm buying the 92a1. If I want striker fired I'll call Mr. Glock see if he has one to spare ;)
    Great review though as always, I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!

    Great video as usual. But I just can't get excited about another polymer/striker pistol. Nothing wrong with them. I have some. Just that when another "new" pistol comes to market we're supposed to get excited over something that's not in any way functionally better than what's been around for years and proven.

      Cole Dedhand I get what you're saying but more competition and choice is a good thing. Keeps quality up and prices down.

    Im a noob shooter and purchased the Shadow 1 as my first handgun a few months back. I had the chance to fire 10 rounds from this particular Beretta and I REALLY enjoyed it; however, the target I was shooting at already had 100 rounds through it and was pretty ventilated, meaning I couldn't tell how accurate I was shooting. My business partner swears that the Shadow is a far more accurate weapon than the Beretta. Human error notwithstanding, would you say that is an accurate assessment of the Shadow vs the Beretta?
