Great video. Just picked up an EM332X (which has the 13 inch heavier profile barrel) and am looking forward to seeing what kind of groups it’s able to print. Happy to see good performance out of the bargain federal stuff as I have tons of it. Cheers!
@@314299 Great so far, waiting on an order of subsonic ammo to do some actual grouping but I took it to 220 yards the other day and was ringing my 8 inch plate consistently with 1200fps ammo, very surprised. Cheers.
By the time I was done with the testing about half of those boxes were empty. I'm not sure if the "9 of 10" really has any real world application, other than to show what could be if the quality of the ammo was a bit better.
I would be interested in a review of the rifle. I bought one as a spare parts kit for my NS522 but I love it as an offhand plinker. I'm considering grabbing the 13" version as well.
That's an idea for a video. They are a pretty decent rifle, especially for the money. It's really too bad that they don't bring back the EM522 again but with a better stock.
I'm not so much removing it as pointing out what a difference it would make if it were not present. The high $ target ammo was lacking such "flyers" and there is a reason for that - higher quality and consistency. Lower cost ammo is made more to a price than to a quality level.
I think it is an excellent rifle, I like it a lot. The stock does look a bit odd to me, but it handles quite well and the accuracy is very good for a standard weight barrel.
Thanks for this , your vids are always worth watching. If you REALLY wanted to burn an entire day or two you could do the same test but with several different rifles as well. I’m not complaining , this video is great , simply a silly suggestion. Thanks again
@@314299 well I hope you and the rest of us can restock our ammo supply soon. I have been kind of "hoarding" ammo for some years now but not on the level of some folks. Need to get back into reloading. Luckily for me I have been focusing on 30-30 ammo in the last couple years and now wouldn’t you know it 30-30 seems to be one of the harder calibers to get. I’m assuming that’s probably because every gun owning household in North America has at least one 30-30. I might be wrong but I bet it’s a pretty high percentage but behind .22 and maybe 12ga. Thanks again
My take on the 22 long rifle rimfire is , if you have a run of the mill 22rifle and you are getting anything around 2” or less at a 50 yard target when shooting from a bench rest that’s all you should expect especially with what every one likes to call high velocity ammo. I find that standard velocity ammo usually preforms a tad bit better however as every one knows there are so many variations in rifles that also contribute to each rounds accuracy . It a hit and miss with 22 ammo.
Considering that much of the ammo tested was either "economy" type stuff or old I'm pleased with the performance of the rifle over all, especially for what it cost.
This is the reality every new shooter should understand. Different ammo shoots differently in different rifles. It is important to test several in your rifle to see what each gun likes. I have shot several .22 rifles and each likes a different ammo.
The better quality control is why the German and Finnish made ammo shot better, generally most American made 22 ammo is made to a price and that can result in overall less consistency.
I have one of the Norinco EM332 .22 LR and the NORINCO TU 33/40 TRAINING CARBINE .22 LR Both are No longer imported😢 Based off the Brno 4 CZ .22 uses CZ mags.
I'm going to guess you are in the USA based on the "no longer imported" statement. Norinco rifles are still imported here (Canada), although rifles such as the TU 33/40 do not appear on the new market as it would appear that they are no longer in production. The Tu 33/40 and JW-15A are indeed clones/copies of the older Czech designs, but the EM322 and EM322A and NS522 are not copies of the Czech design. To the best of my knowledge the EM and NS designs are not copies but are a new and original design, they use a different bolt design and their mags do not interchange with those of the JW / Czech types.
I did not come across Thunderbolt when i was rounding up ammo to head for the range. I actually thought I had some of those, perhaps they are in the back of the ammo cabinet.
It was brand brand new, got the scope zeroed and then began trying different types of ammo in it. I can't say as the performance has changed since I got it. The action is probably a bit smoother now with use, other than that no noticeable change.
@@314299 Thanks for the quick reply, just wondering because other shooters say most firearms benefit from a "bedding in " of at least a hundred rounds.
I suspect there are many more around here that I could have tested, however one has to draw the line somewhere. Perhaps a part 2 sometime when I dig out some other ammo.
As you know, there are many factors to take into consideration addressing those flyers, I get those too, however, mostly it was a Marksmanship thing with me and not the ammo. I look at the overall grouping as you do, dispel the wild shot that ruined a perfectly acceptable good group, I didn't have the sight alignment, or I wasn't concentrating on crosshair, or I jerked that one, or Maybe the rim thickness was different on that round so the ignition was different and recoil reaction threw me off. anyway, good evaluation and practical subject. -Dave
Certainly the shooter plays a big part, however I did my best to eliminate as much as possible my errors, I shot with a front and rear bag with a scope adjusted to remove the parallax. The big thing to note was that the expensive target ammo for the most part lacked the "flyers" showing the enhanced level of consistency it has over the cheaper stuff.

The 13" version looks interesting, let us know how you get along with yours.

I haven’t seen that much ammo on one tabletop in over a year. Also, huge fan of the “best 9 out of 10” system; I wish more You-tubers did that.

Finally- Wildcat outshoots something!
It had to happen eventually. If I were S&B I'd be ashamed...
never heard of the rifle until your post, thanks for sharing
I don't think these are sold in the USA.

I like your take on removing that 'flyer' that is most times the spoiler of a good test. I do that sometimes as well with my rimfire ammo.

Wow, impressive groups from such a bargain rifle. How do you like the rifle?

Been waiting for these results!
I hope you found the results to be interesting.
I use to have pmc " zapper" 22s. They were great, also use to like ELEY
I've used them years ago, they were a good load.
I enjoyed your test. Thank you. Groups always interest me.👌🏼🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it.

I'd also need to replenish my supply of several of these loads as I used the last of them for this test.

Yes, rifles generally have a preference for one load or another.
What size are the scope mounts on the Scorpio em332a?
It uses 3/8" inch mounts.
That 10th flyer is a mystery. That German ammo looks tight!
The better quality control is why the German and Finnish made ammo shot better, generally most American made 22 ammo is made to a price and that can result in overall less consistency.

Don't think I've got 16 varieties, but I need to do a similar test with my Glenfield Model 20 bolt gun.
I suspect there are many more around here that I could have tested, however one has to draw the line somewhere. Perhaps a part 2 sometime when I dig out some other ammo.
hey great video
Thanks, glad you liked it.
I lucked up on a case of Aguila "Standard Velocity" (1050 FPS) in March 2020. It's been good ammo.
It has a reputation for being generally pretty decent ammo.
What's funny is i get aguila or S+B for the same price....
How about a summary at the end?
I'm not sure what that would accomplish other than making a long video longer.

Hope we can have another chat 1 evening
Looks like Scott made that happen.
I'd like to get some of that rifle match from Germany
It's good stuff.
