Luscious. One of my all time favourite tracks, bought the LP when it came out, also the Vienna 12” with Passionate Reply on the B-side and also the German vocal version Herr X.
Truly great! Chapeau! I doubt Ultravox would have gotten any closer to their original masterpiece when they had tried to recreate it. All the small subtle voices hit and the wonderful final is better than the original because the beautiful chords / harmonies become clearer. I wonder what the violas startinng at c. 3:50 were ... were these samples from the original track or recreated as well?
Thanks a lot!. No samples here except in the electric violin solo (here some parts are played by me on Currie's original recording, mixing both). Everything else is played by me
@@WIRECOOLEY In any case wow ;-) ! I guess, that may be what I meant. There are about 2 bits which I expected to be a "real" violin or viola with lot's of reverb etc.: At c. 3:12 and c. 3:48 ... And you dubbed these if I get it reight? Anyway, really skillfully done! Mr. X was always one of my favorite songs ...
I was expecting to hear just the intro. What I got was absolutely outstanding and mind blowing brilliance. Really works as a pure instrumental. You are a sound recreation craftsmen. Something I strived for when I played synth in a cover band but never quite achieved, to my mind anyway.👍🙂
I would have loved to see this with split video. I've been slowly working it out, by ear, for some time. The difficult parts, for me, don't appear visually in the video. The availability of Ultravox sheet music, as with many of my favourite bands, is sadly lacking.
Fantastic ! I thoroughly enjoyed hearing your cover of this fabulous, haunting track. Some covers sound okay but a little 'plastic' however yours had so much feel and as has been said in a previous comment , captured the essence of the original but with just enough of your own interpretation. Cannot imagine how much work it took to dissect this track in order to recreate it . Thanks for sharing 😊
This is so good, even the camera is ecstatic! :))) Now seriously, what a stellar work, you really put your mind to it! Especially love the CR shots - such a great looking machine, I'd love one day to own one! You have my like and applause, good sir!
@@mutandonespaziale9682 Hi, Massimiliano. Sorry but I don't know if it is possible to restart the MTX9. I had one years ago (in fact it was the first Simmons module that I had) but I sold it long ago (and I'm sorry I did, but I needed the money at the time). As for SDS9, I suppose you know the way to activate MIDI mode in SDS9 (something peculiar, we could say). The same thing happened to me when I bought mine. Finally my tech fixed it and the MIDI works perfectly now. Great that you have an SDX rack. Love the SDX. I hope you manage to repair all your Simmons modules and they will be working 100% again soon. Sorry I can't help you, but I don't have the information you need. Take care.

Sí , por supuesto. Sería posible hacerlo. Pero sería más complicado sincronizar los arpegios del sintetizador con la cr 78. Aunque siempre puedes usar la entrada external clock como se hacia en los viejos tiempos.
You’ve managed to capture the atmosphere of the original perfectly
Thanks!

Making good videos (with a good image, lighting, without camera movements) is, of course, not my strong point, I know ;). Thanks.
@@WIRECOOLEY No-no, that's not a problem at all, just a bit of a joke, not a criticism :) I enjoy your videos very much!

Omg I've been waiting for this for so long! You've even got an LED display on the CR-78!
I bought the CR 78 years ago with some modifications. Display, 4 individual outputs,...
@@WIRECOOLEY Warren Cann had those exact same modifications plus it was in a perspex box.

Superb cover. Did the MS2000 make all the sounds?
Well done.
I guess that bar counter on the CR-78 gets triggered with the voltage of the LED?
Right. It was modified by it's previos owner. It has four independent outputs, and a kind of filter knob for the snare.
Great song. Any chance you'll share the midi file?
Not easy, because it´s a mixture between midi and audio tracks.
@@WIRECOOLEY Ok, I understand. It's just that I'd like to learn how to play my favourite Ultravox tune. Especially the bass line and the synth in the beginning. Really anything would help. Thanks.
Nice! Could you do a SDSV drum cover of “I need a hero” by Bonnie Tyler?
Too bad I can only give one thumbs up :)
it's definitely on the playlist for my funeral
Ohh I thought it was the DR-55 they used
The solo violin lines - how did you do those?
The solo líne is a mixture between the original track and a violin vst plug in
Sounds to me like an early Depeche Mode B-Side. That or Visage.
Midge Ure (Ultravox singer) and Billy Currie (Ultravox Keyboardist) wrote most of the songs on Visage's first album. Roland CR 78 mas used a lot for both bands.
Are all the keyboard lines done on the MS2000? What outboard effects did you use?
No. MS 2000 has irá limitations. Only a few sounds are from MS 2000. Above you can ser the equipment used.
