    Steppin' Out : Joe Jackson what a classic song by one of the most criminally underated singer/songwriters ever!!
    I've always loved him, his birthday is the same day as mine - big shout out to everyone born on August 11th (Especially the 1966 vintage!!)🙂
    It was actually a Korg - KR55 which was used on that song!!
    There's a video on TH-cam from 2019 filmed at the London Palladium, during which Joe holds up and tells the audience about the KR55 prior to performing the classic song!!
    The drum machine is also featured in a picture of Joe, his backing band and his recording gear in the Night And Day CD booklet!!
    This CR78 does sound as good though!!
    Cool video, I loved it, but I'll stick with my actual CR78 which, despite it's age, is still in mint condition!!
    Keep up the great work!!

  • @anthonysallis
    @anthonysallis 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    This is absolutely the right direction to take for Cherry. Ahead of the curve which I'm glad to see is NOT yet another reverb, equaliser or tape delay! This goes hand in hand with the synths. I'm sure Cherry will get bombarded with wishful demands about all the other classic drum machines. Hopefully this will unfold in our favour with absolutely no prodding from we consumers! ;-)
    As I finished the install and got it going in Ableton, I had the widest smile as I played around. There's no doubt it triggered buried good vibes of using it in the late 70s and 80s and the strength of the 'product recognition' surprised me. What a great bit of kit, thanks Cherry!

    To hear these sounds as modelled synthesis rather than samples is refreshing for my ears. Samples are great of course but this sounds sensational and has the flexibility to edit in an authentic way giving a truly authentic sound that sampling can’t give you, in my experience anyway.
    After all, sound quality is the key for any plugin producing professional results.

    The multy key pressing was very common back in the days on organs. You could do this on most rhythm machines. Just depended on how many fingers you were able to manage to get over 2 or more buttons. Not always gave something usefull, but actually quite cool.
    This is such a nice plugin since it done "right" with circuit emulation instead of just samples. Would be fun to see coupled with a simple old school "Auto accomp." with some old school analog bass and rhytmic instruments.

  • @marquonuk
    @marquonuk 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Just to add that a number of artists used that same rumba rhythm as on the Blondie song. Gary Numan (definitely on Remind Me To Smile from Telekon), and more than once, I think. Roxy Music - which you then featured! The original lineup Ultravox! (with the exclamation mark, before Midge Ure joined) might have as well. It's a great, iconic rhythm (I've used it in my own amateur stuff), and really feels "1980s", but can comfortably support a variety of musical styles. Not sure whether the artists all used the CR78. I assume not! Great piece of kit. I don't use a DAW (I'm old fashioned and still use hardware for recording), but as I always wanted a CR78 but couldn't afford one, I assume I could use this virtual drum machine to create a drum track, and then record it into a couple of tracks on my digital recorder. :-)

    Really great run through. At last I can get my favourite drum machine. Was hoping Behringer would produce a hardware version. But cherry have probably destroyed their sales. It's easier and better than any hardware. My only thoughts I would have preferred a matrix grid for editting. Great idea for the instant midi export. Something that is perfect for Ableton.

    "Steppin' Out" by Joe Jackson was a Korg Rhythm 55 (KR-55) drum machine and is pictured (along with all the other equipment used on the album) on Night & Day inner gatefold. Also, The Cars' used a CR-78 on "Double Life" on Candy-O not "Shoo Be Do".

    Wow wow. These are the best genres in the world, before Y2k, RnB and 90's house techno and amen breaks took over, imo. But this, this era and iconicness is is the best (one of the best). Would love for Adele to do this type of music, I like this more than rock and country or even RnB. This, this is just iconic, these rhythm genres, these tempos, the drum tracks.

    Just had an iconic question about setting the tempo on this iconic software drum machine. Is there a way to set the tempo via digital readout on this iconic machine or are we stuck with that big analog "Tempo" button only? For example, the tempo for that iconic fourth song, written by that super iconic recording artist, should be @ an iconic 95bpm. How can you be sure you're set at that iconic 95bpm for that super, super iconic song? Thanks!

      The Host Sync switch locks to the same tempo as your DAW. Otherwise (Host Sync off), dial it in on the Tempo knob or double-click it to enter the precise BPM

    Demo does seem fun so far. Maybe I’m missing something, but I wish Cherry would include init patches in their software. Once you start making changes there doesn’t seem to be a way to get back to the default, freshly installed “factory” settings (unless you remember to create your own init preset).

      Hope I'm understanding your question correctly... any sound/mixer/effects edits "stick" as you change patterns with the front panel factory and user beats, but there isn't a way to globally edit or lock sounds when you change presets using the main preset browser (purple strip at the top).

      @@CherryAudiovst Great, i bought it yesterday - but i cannot for the life of me figure out how to actually record any audio (or midi) out of the plugins interface, it is driving me insane, how do i acually press start on a beat and just get that from the plugin in the DAW to the tracks???? im ready to give up - i dont want to use any digital or physical routing, there must be a way to output it cleanly in the DAW surely?

      @@DanielS10291 that's a function of which DAW you are using, but you may find some help in the online user guide: docs.cherryaudio.com/cherry-audio/instruments/cr-78/getting-started . See the specific sections on "Using CR-78 Multi-Out Version" and "Using CR-78 as a DAW MIDI Sound Module." If you need more assistance, feel free to drop our Support team a line, and let them know which DAW you're using

    14:41 such a shame that Cherry Audio did not make the contrast between bar 2 and bar 3 higher contrast. People with color vision deficiency, like me, have a hard time distinguishing the colors of bar 2 and bar 3. It would be such a small change, and would have made the interface much more accessible. The plugin looks amazing otherwise, looks like a lot of fun!
