    How on earth did Nick Foles beat Brady and Belichick in Super Bowl 52?
    Kurt Warner joined me to break down Trey Lance: • Trey Lance is the Draf...
    This week’s film breakdown analyzes Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Nick Foles' Super Bowl-winning performance. In Super Bowl 52 back in 2017, Nick Foles did the improbable and led the Eagles to an upset victory over Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots dynasty. The Eagles won 41 to 33 and Foles won Super Bowl MVP. How on earth did this happen? This episode uses the all-22 coaches film to analyze Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Nick Foles performance in Super Bowl 52.

But because people always overrated Carson Wentz from that 2017 season the idea is that Frank leaving hurt the offense, when in reality Wentz just stunk for most of his time in Philly and set us back pretty bad.

    Your analysis made me realise, football is such a great and complex game. So many moving parts coming together to make every single play happen.
    Keep up the great work.
    How do coach design plays, offence or defence, given they play just once in playoff? Halftime adjustment?
    Atleast in basketball, you have four games to make adjustments.

      its already learned how bill bellicheck personally did all he could to lose that Superbowl to defy Brady, he was pissed that Kraft chose Brady over his decision about jimmy G and he made sure to lose the Superbowl as a slap in the face to Kraft and Brady.. he benched Malcolm Butler the entire game and the back up got torched the entire game.. this Superbowl was about the drama between Brady and bellicheck .. no knock against the eagles but .. 44 points on the pats .. come on it was all a set up internally. even during the 4th quarter of the game the coach was no where near the players on the sideline ... he stayed far to the side.. after it was over during the interview you could see in Brady's face he knew bellicheck betrayed him.. Brady couldn't even make eye contact with Bill during the game it was that un comfortable.

    What an excellent video! What I found so interesting about this video (I'm an Eagles fan by the way) was how much the Eagles were able to dictate and force the Patriots to adjust to them, and not the other way around. You often hear and read about how frequently the Patriots take away the opposing team's best player, play, scheme, or tactic, so it is interesting to see that the Eagles kind of forced them to be on their heels. You rarely see the Patriots rattled, and being forced to chase the opponent throughout a game.

    How one Belichick decision took down the Patriots ?
    By not playing Malcolm Butler. Patriots secondary excelled with him but fell apart when he was taken out that last game.
    Unless Butler murdered owner Mr Kraft and especially Belichick's dog, he should have been kept in.
    By playing the worst player on the team - Jordan Richards. Every patriot fan saw him as a 4 year bust starting in year one. Fans suspected he had pictures of Belichick in compromised position.

      @@jrad410 No. They were relatively very healthy. Their secondary excelled the second half of season and playoffs until that last game. They fell apart when Malcolm Butler was removed. Injuries have derailed other teams secondaries in playoffs.
      Moral of the Story:
      Don't muck with secondaries when they are on a roll. Any issues or infractions should have just been put on back burner for that one last game.
      It takes chemistry and communication over many games to build a secondary.

    Just scrolled through some of the comments, and I'm already seeing salty Pats/Brady fans peddling the conspiracy theory that Belichick benched Malcolm Butler, whom they claim was their "best corner" that year (what was Stephon Gilmore, chopped liver?), so as to spite Brady and send a message to Kraft. Never mind the fact that NE's defense even with Butler on the field wasn't that great in 2017, never mind the fact that in the previous year's Super Bowl, NE's defense, with Butler on the field, gave up 28 points through the first 3 quarters of the game (and had it not been for the ineptitude of the Falcons coaching staff /Atlanta's defense completely collapsing in the 4th quarter, the Pats would've lost), never mind the fact that they had the epitome of incompetence in Matt Patricia as their D-coordinator that year, never mind the fact that Philly, in addition to having a pretty loaded team that year, also had coaches like Frank Reich and John Defilippo making sure that Wentz, Foles and the entire Eagles offense was running like a well-oiled machine. Never mind ALL of that. I just have a couple of questions: 1) You say that Belichick did it because he was so arrogant as to believe that he was more important than Brady and that he believed that it was Brady that should've been traded, not Jimmy G. If Belichick is really as arrogant as you all claim, is not more likely then that he saw that the Eagles were starting their supposedly unimpressive backup QB in Nick Foles and, in his arrogance, figured that the Patriots didn't need to do much to win? That even without Butler they still could've won because Foles was just that unimpressive of a QB? Is that really such an unrealistic explanation? 2) If Foles is truly as bad as you all claim (and to be clear, I don't necessarily disagree with the claim that Foles is a bad QB), is it really so ridiculous to believe that they could still win without Butler? Hell I'd argue that the Pats honestly should've been able to beat Philly even without Butler on the field, that if they had properly schemed and been able to get more pressure on Foles, they could have come away with a win. If the coaching staff is to be blamed, it has less to do with them purposely throwing the game and more to do with A) the head coach being way too overconfident in his own teams abilities/the opposing teams weaknesses and B) the Defensive coordinator being absolutely terrible at his job. And as for why their "best corner" in Butler didn't play a single snap, there had been reports that he and BB's son Steve had gotten into some kind of altercation the week before the game after Butler broke curfew and was allegedly smoking weed in his hotel room. Yes, Butler isn't the first player to do this, yes smoking weed shouldn't be a punishable offense, and yes the coaching staff completely overreacted and should never have tried to intervene. At the same time, I wouldn't say a coach benching a player for getting into a fight (a fight with their son no-less) the week before a game is something that's so out of the realm of possibility that it shouldn't even be considered. How many coaches do you know that would let a player get away with beating up their kid? Not very many I imagine. Honestly, everything I just laid is much more of a reasonable explanation than "bElIcHiCk WanTeD tO tEaCh kRaFt A lEsSoN!" You'd think a fanbase that constantly has to hear other fans try and delegitimize their team's championships b/c of shit like spygate and deflategate would try to not do the same thing and be a little more empathetic, but no, y'all are just a bunch of salty, entitled Mf'ers.

      @CharlesClunk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brucebeaver7137 True, but you have to agree, sitting Butler was a bad idea. Conclusion: Belichick got outcoached. And since he didn't know the Eagles defensive signal calls this time around he was unable to put up enough points to overcome such a huge coaching mistake. And you can't blame Brady for losing the handle on the football, it was probably fully inflated : D These guys are goats, all lower case.

    • @cary737
      @cary737 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The benching of Butler was a major factor! The play that maybe turned the Super Bowl, ( that nobody ever talks about): the 3rd and 8 on the Eagles first drive of the 2nd half. The Pats had a long drive resulting in a TD to cut the deficit to 22-19. On the 3rd play , (. 3rd and 8), Foles throws underneath to Nelson Agolar . If that’s Butler on him he’s stopped short and the Eagles go 3 and out! But his replacement, Bademosi, misses the tackle allowing him to get the first down. This results in the Eagles continuing the drive and score a TD to put them back up by 10, rather than giving Brady the ball back down 3, ( in a game the Pats never punted)! Belichicks arrogance cost his team a Super Bowl!

      @ Austin Powers, I was hopeful, having seen Nick play in his first postseason game against the Saints in 2013-14. Where he had the team winning with a minute to play before the defense let it slip away. But going up against Belichick and the vaulted TB. I was doubtful that they would pull it off. McNabb couldn't and he was a full-time starter with lots of playoff experience during his Eagles career. Nick was a backup who no one had any confidence in, but a handful of fans.
