I ended up focusing on Hilda's design (and by extension my drawing style) and the way it's evolved and shifted across the books and into the show. If that piques anyone's interest!

at first i thought he drew every comic in a diffrent style on purpose. it realy makes the series more unique.
I loved every second of Luke Pearson's talk about his style and evolution while developing the graphic novels and the animated series, because after watching the whole thing it made me want to rescue some character sketches that I have abandoned to see if I can improve them, just like Luke Pearson did with Hilda :D
Luke Pearson reminds me that the loud people in the world are annoying and the quiet people in the world are brilliant.
I love that “…Overall pretty traumatic, but such is the life of an adventurer” went back to one of the first sketches.
Such an Underrated series
I used to buy the graphic novels at my local comic store whenever they were released so I could get signed copies as he grew up near me, blows my mind it got a Netflix series but much deserved. Shame regarding Netflix's apparent issue giving animated series more content.
Really appreciate your digging and effort to post it on youtube. It's nice to know the original design of Hilda and the thoughts of Luke Parsion. And surprised to know that he is not that talktive and outgoing as I could imagine. It just came to me that a cartoonist who designed Hilda, such an energetic fearless character, must have those in common.

I always wonder the development on how Hilda changed (design wise) from the first graphic novel to the Netflix series?!
I hate to say well typed it but I prefered the tv series apperance when compared to the comic version! Granted this is coming from a guy whose discover the tv series and then bought the comics after watching season 1!
Did felt the first comic artstyle was very rough but in a good way! It was interesting to see how her apperance changed overtime! Also it was cool to learned about the development to David (he based on a doll?), Marra and the ghost!
So excited for s3! It's coming this year!

Love to see the evolution of Luke drawings of Hilda, as an Artist myself while drawing comics you can see the evolution of your style getting more comfortable with a design and is a very fun evolution see how you start and how currently look years after.

This was the best character development talk I’ve ever seen. I love how he highlighted the massive difference the most subtle changes can make. Of course with Hilda, but especially with Twig. Just those tiny adjustments gives him so much elegance, ethereal grace, balance and beauty as apposed to being more quirky and cute. Love this so much. Thank you for sharing 💙❤️💛

@@lonelysoul7661Well sadly 3rd season is the end of the series, and the series is a different story than the comic books, because this last season wasn't inspired in a book because everything ended in Hilda and the King of the Mountain.
Now if only netflix can make BONE n Amulet graphic comics into a animated series

hilda's comics are wonderful... and i thought it was a big mistake to have changed so much the line and style of the drawing.... it was something quite generic in the market... lost the mark... despite the animation being very good, but if it kept its trait it would be more attractive. I'm saying this as an artist who would not change my characters to convey a feeling that is not what I convey with my trait.

i dont think the tweeks are not petty. I really appreciated those small changes that pushed her away from being typical.
