Amazing video, it's always great to see how an experienced person does their workflow. Regarding noise removal do u prefer a software level removal like u have shown or is it better to have a gate system? (like something on a dbx 286s)
In my opinion, showing how to do this in a DAW like REAPER is invaluable, because many people have content where the loudness is all over the place, and being able to remedy that with the tools they already have is fantastic. That being said, do you have a preference for this workflow over Auphonic Leveler batch processing that you used to use? Or is it just not having to open a separate program?
Aaaaah you use NS1, too! Do you get a little 'thump' sound in every individually rendered track with it?? It drives me insane. Support told me that 1/3 of a second is where the plug in 'learns' the noise floor then it applies the settings to the remainder of the track, and there's no way to get it to not do that. The only work around I have is to put 1 sec of room as an item on the master just before the track that I need to render, render "selected media items," delete that first room tone (001), and rename the other file that I need. I could just render what I need as is then bring it back into Reaper, trim off the beginning, and re-render, but that seems to take a little more time. The only thing I haven't tried yet is RX 10's spectral or voice de-noise plug in as a replacement. My noises are random bird chirps and roof crackles. I know this isn't about leveling audio but hey....engagement. :)
This is great for content that I make. The question is - How can I do the same thing to other content? Is there anything out there that will allow me the same control over any sound coming out of my pc or even tv? (I don't often use my phone for watching/listening to content) And no, the built-in loudness equalization and/or night mode doesn't decrease the dynamic range nearly enough. If you find a solution PLEASE let me know!!!
@@SoundSpeeds if you have an easy way to fit a normal live sound compressor somewhere in the path from my pc to the monitor/speakers, I'm all ears. Otherwise I would think it would have to be some kind of software.

Gates are more for live applications in my workflow only

Reaper is a one stop shop but if I need to batch process, Auphonic is easier.
👀
:-) This is child's play to you.
should have used the brickwall to prevent the clipping after render normalize.
It doesn't clip when you compress then level.
@@SoundSpeeds the red spikes in render window are clipped peaks in final render
It doesn't sound like it.

I use the NS1 to knock out very quiet modulation artifacts from other processes or to add another level or reduction to Clarity VX.
@@SoundSpeeds Oh. And does it result in an audible thump in the beginning of your track?
No

Do you mean in real time?
@@SoundSpeeds Yes! In real time. please please please.
Looo into compression. Software or hardware conpressors.

@@SoundSpeeds I've got a Behringer MDX 2100 compressor sitting right here with nothing to do if you can tell me how to rig it up :)
i wish it were as easy to do in Reaper as it is in Audition. Either way, my s's would wreck it all.
OK
