      In the case of the 701 Enduro, the head pipe is quite sufficient. No need for a full system. Akrapovic and Yoshimura, for example, only produce slip-ons for the 701 Enduro and 701 SM.

      Johannes did you get the tall? I got the "regular" comfort seat and did not find it pushed me forward at all. That 2k mile trip last week was the first longer multiday ride on the seat - I was pretty happy with the lack of discomfort even after a couple 11-12 hour days.

    Hi upshift.
    Isnt there a risk that you Bent The subframe if crashing with theese crash bars? I was thinking about outting Them On My own 690 enduro r, but People tell me i risk getting a Bent subframe if i crash with Them.

    • @UPSHIFT_ONLINE
      @UPSHIFT_ONLINE  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do you mean the pannier racks? Look you risk bending all sorts of things when you crash. The Outback Motortek pannier racks are easily the strongest we have had the opportunity to ride with. They mount low to the frame up front and to the subframe up high in the rear and there is a crossbar between the two sides in the rear down low. Both sides work together countering any forces applied. We have had a couple of good crashes and hard drops with this bike and everything is straight and solid. We are very happy with the product and what it does for the 701.

    It looks really good! but as an adventure bike I heard mixed feeling regarding reliability of the 701... what's your experience? Did you drive long distances?

    • @UPSHIFT_ONLINE
      @UPSHIFT_ONLINE  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not a straight forward question to answer. At the end of the day, the 701 is a single cylinder dualsport. If you ride it in situations where you are on pavement hour after hour at the same speed in higher RPM range carrying a heavy load, it will not like it. That's partly why the 790 with a parallel twin has been such a hot topic. But if ridden and maintained properly, the 701 can give you great service.

    I am considering between this and the Yamaha Tenere 700 adventure. Can you give a rough estimate of the cost of upgrades to complete phase 2 and the added weight?

    • @UPSHIFT_ONLINE
      @UPSHIFT_ONLINE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At this point we're not sure. The value of the Tenere 700 is pretty much impossible to touch if you are looking for more of an adventure bike. And it's a parallel twin. The 701 has more brute torque and is more of a dirtbike.

    Wish you guys would talk about cost $$ of it, would love to know how much the this all and parts of it cost, plus labor !!

    • @UPSHIFT_ONLINE
      @UPSHIFT_ONLINE  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with that is... when this video was made, all of those prices have changed since. Which really gets people fired up over time when they go to buy something and now it's 20% more expensive. This is a lesson learned the hard way. We leave links to all the brands we used so you can easily find all the parts. And labor costs is a question for your mechanic. Every shop/mechanic charges different rates.

      So much depends on what kind of riding you are doing. If you are looking for and covering lots of offroad miles it's excellent. If you need something to put in thousands of pavement miles at relatively high speeds, the single cylinder is not ideal.

Check out the ADV Rider forum or FB group for the bike and you will see many happy owners with the occasional issue here and there of course. If you ride a nice DS bike like this and a DR 650 back to back you will know why people spend the money. Of course the DR will be more reliable - just like a Toyota Corolla will be more reliable than a Porsche 911.
