    Today we’re gonna talk about accuracy. All hunters want their shots to land where they aim. For one, accuracy translates into reliability. Having an accurate rifle gives you the confidence to nail that shot and helps you focus on where to point. Another reason is ethics in the sense that you can achieve clean kills. You just need one shot to take down the game, which minimizes suffering.

      Then again SAKO and Tikka represents sort of different line of rifles too, they are made out of pure quality and in some parts with hands. The rifles in this list are mass manufactured, so at least i personally don't count them to be comparable, even though the price range in some cases are the same. Just goes to show one more superior aspect of SAKO and Tikka i guess =)
      Edit: Also SAKO / Tikka tests every single rifle by hand before they leave the factory, they are made sure to be accurate as they claim to be.

    The most accurate rifle I have ever shot is my 1940's Winchester Model 70 in 30 '06 with a 12X scope. Maybe I'm deluded, but I was pretty surprised to see it missing here. I understand that the best marine snipers in the Vietnam conflict used these older Winchester Model 70's with big Unertl scopes on them.

    • @GeorgiaBoy1961
      @GeorgiaBoy1961 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @IMPureRay - The Winchester M70 isn't called "the rifleman's rifle" for nothing. Back when it was rare for factory rifles to shoot sub-moa, the M70 was doing it routinely. There have been plenty of National Match championship shooters at Camp Perry who have used their '70s to win things like the 1,000 yard Wimbledon Cup. U.S. Marine Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock, then a Corporal, won that very match in 1965 using a M70. Later, in Vietnam, he and his fellow Marines used M70s in 30-06 in the field under the toughest conditions, and the rifles performed superbly considering that they were "civilian" weapons not designed for warfare. Finally, the list of distinguished big-game hunters down to your local white-tail deer fans, have used the Model 70 for years with such success that even more than eighty-five years after their introduction, for many hunters and riflemen they are still the standard against which other designs are measured.

    Not a mention of Weatherby? I was both a small and big bore competitor in the Army. For a sporting arm Weatherby makes some of the most accurate and well-made rifles available and has for decades. Most models are guaranteed sub-MOA with factory ammo. That's saying a lot.

    Very Disappointed that you left out the Winchester model 70 for old and new. My first one was Actually used in WW I I (was given to me), I traded it in for the Feather Weight XTR in 30-06.
    Winchester also produced the model 1917 (30-06)...though after the war hunters would "sporterize" them (I still have one).
    The M - 1 grande..another outstanding shooter which was and IS used for hunting.

    I grew up on a 25000+ acre ranch that was surrounded by a 780,000 acre ranch. I had a Remington 722 (obviously .222) a 700 BDL (.270) and I have to agree both those rifles were amazing. That being said, I used the .222 90% of the time. The .222 was an amazing mule deer rifle. I know a lot of folks don’t think it’s of sufficient caliber size but I can say it never failed to drop a deer instantly at ranges up to 500 yards.
    I also had my grandfathers Winchester Arm Model 30 Winchester 1895 30-40. I have to say, that is one great rifle also. It was my grandfathers only large caliber rifle, he had a Remington model 33 .22 single shot, a sears single barrel 12 gauge, and a Ruby Extra .22 revolver. That all he ever needed and he used all of them until his mid 80’s. He passed over in his 90’s.
    There are just so many amazing guns used or new. I wish I had the time and money to find investment grade guns from the 1600’s up until today. I just love the feel of a well made and historical gun.

      drop a deer instantly at ranges up to 500 yards. Thats amazing seen many deer shot at closer range with 30-06, slugs, 450 bushmaster and they never go down instantly unless you spine them. Hearth or double lung shot they almost never go down instantly they run 25-75 yards then drop.

Have had 600s in 222, 6mm, 308 and maybe others. Have had 700s in223, 243, 7 08, 30 06 and probably others . Have owned Winchester's, Savage, Ruger's, Browning's Marlins, Thompson Center and probably others. Have had bolt actions in all of them, lever actions in 4 of them and Semi action in two of them and Single shot in one. Liked some, didn't like some. One that stands out in memory was a Browning A Bolt Composite Stalker 30 06 I had in early 90s It was accurate and tough as a boot lots of pigs and deer fell to that one. It was probably more due to it fitting me then than anything else but it was a good one. You can and will find good ones in all of them but I always seem to come back to the old Remington 700. I'm not a paper puncher I'm a hunter and have been for over 50 years. 700s have served me well throughout most of those years.

    Several misses here IMO. Carlos Hathcock, one of the deadliest Marine snipers during the Vietnam war, used a Winchester Model 70 chambered in 30.06. If it was accurate enough for 93 confirmed kills, then I think Winchester should have gotten some acknowledgement. Both Bergara and Tikka make extremely accurate rifles, with guaranteed sub MOA accuracy, and lastly there's the Ruger Mark 77. These four manufacturers have been producing dependable, highly accurate rifles, chambered in multiple calibers for several years now. They should have definitely been mentioned, as they are much more accessable than several of the rifles that made your list.

    • @GeorgiaBoy1961
      @GeorgiaBoy1961 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @kentmedlin4920 - Everyone wants the latest and greatest thing, the newest kid on the block gets all the attention, but sometimes the traditional choices are the best and for good reason. All of the designs you mention have been getting it done for many years, and well, too. Bergara has been well-known in the competition rifle field for some time now, but they are relatively new to the hunting arena, so they are not yet well-known for that. That ought to change since Ed Shilen the famous custom-barrel maker taught them how to make match-grade barrels. Tikka - which is a brandname of the famous Sako of Finland, make terrific products which both perform to a very high level and without breaking the budget of the typical sportsman, either. Ruger M77 Hawkeyes and the like are renowned for their quality, ruggedness and value.
      Remington Arms should be on the list, too, but quality problems and their recent bankruptcy have cast doubt on that. Maybe they can return to the glory of their earlier years. Some of their older M700 bolt-actions are gems.

    I can expect to see 5/8” groups from a vice at 100 yards.
    I know that some rifles will shoot tighter but this rifle was built in 1949.
    I’ve brought home my trophies with her but she is truly a woods rifle. I’ve been shooting her since I was 12 years old and she is still my go to rifle for medium game up to Whitetail but I bet she would do fine on big game out to 200 yards if put to use as many did in Alaska and other areas.
    The .300 savage was a great design but just needed a longer neck and the cartridge would have been perfect.
    Many of us OLD TIMEER’s. Still load and hunt the .300 Savage as a primary cartridge.

    One gun that i think should have made the list was the 788 Remington. When you reload, most any gun will shoot sub moa and if your smart enough to adjust a trigger or glass bed a stock you can gain even more accuracy. If you can't get a gun to shoot moa or better, junk it! You shouldn't have to spend a fortune to get a gun that shoots accurately!

    I have one right now that I just removed a 270 barrel and put on a new pull off 22-250 factory barrel. Paid 90.00 for the barrel and zero headspaced it....takes 30 minutes to do. (someone pulled the 22-250 barrel from their new savage action and put a shilen on it without realising it was a gem) It shoots 1/2" at 100yds with a handload. (34.5 imr 4064.... 3500 fps... @cugir321 - Savage is famous among people in the FA industry for making firearms which out-perform competitors costing thousands of dollars more. I don't care for their new "Accu-Stock" line, but the older M110s with walnut stocks are beautifully made and don't break the bank, either. The M110 now holds the distinction of being the American bolt-action hunting rifle to be in production on a continuous basis longer than any other. If you talk to people who own multiple rifles, they'll often tell you that one of their Savage rifles is among the most-accurate.

    Win 52 - I started shooting at 17 - at a commercial shooting range. I spent 5 yrs shooting there . At the time - I was shooting the NRA - Winchester Grand Champion course of fire. Both Rifle - and pistol. Within a months - The Range Officer let me shoot - some of his person rifles. I began shooting a rifle target - that had a white center pin. If I just nicked the white - in the first shot - the second would put 2 bullets in one raggy hole.
    So in pistol - I shot a Volstok - 22 target pistol. i liked it - nice grips - i was a left handed shooter, so neutral grips helped. My first real target pistol was a mint SXW M41. Gosh it worked nice. I raised my score from low 80's to high 80's - just by a pistol switch. i kept shooting that for 6 months. I had 18 months - on lower quality guns. So my RO - owner of the range - gave me a Colt Match Target. From back in the 60's.
    I increased my score 10 points - and scored - a 95 slow fire. I kept that up - for 2 weekends.
    I then repeated - that string with a Mk1 Ruger Bull barrel - I could make junk - shoot like a champ . Cheers - practise! even with a CO2 pistol. Shoot.

The gun store said the rear sights were not working properly, that they were :stripped", but all I needed to do was to cycle the rear "Olympic" peep sight up and down through it's entire range of motion several times to get the threads on track again and that made them right. Mine weighs 14.5 lbs. and is in an Olympic Competition configuration with a broad flat bottomed stock with an aluminum strap rail and an adjustable for height and length of pull cheek piece. Back in 1992/93 season in my first year of competition shooting I came in 1st. Place for non ranked shooters in NYS in an Official NRA Statewide Competition. Appreciate the video, it’s always nice seeing videos like this especially with a wide array of guns. However, you obviously have never handled or shot a Sako rifle! Especially the older ones but even some of the newer ones, there’s nothing like them, and I believe them to be the most accurate rifles ever made. You can have a shooter with very little experience and not a very good shooter shoot a Sako rifle and they are transformed into very good shooters.
