Hi Dave, I want to buy a good mouthpiece for my tenor selmer selx 80 action sax, I have a lot of doubts because I don't like any of the ones I have, I use dukoff, beechler, jet 7, claudie lakey 6x3, I want a bright, powerful mouthpiece, which In the high register of the saxophone it is comfortable, but the most important thing that does not change the original sound of the saxophone to wood, as is happening with all new brands, I do not have so much money because I live in a country where everything is very complicated (Venezuela ), What do you recommend me? And if you can sell it to me?
That's a tricky one. I really like Phil-Ton's rift. Also, the 10MFan Showboat is really good. They're not super cheap, but they are great. For a less expensive one, maybe try a Vandoren Jumbo Java. Thanks!
What's up? I have a jodyjazz HR* which makes it a great blending piece, but I want to invest in a mouthpiece with a similar baffle to the theowanne without paying upwards of 600 bucks for any solo gigs, do you have any suggestions? If it helps, clarinet is my main but I'm really trying to improve my tenor playing abilities.
Yeah, definitely! The Vandoren Jumbo Java pieces have higher baffles and would get in that neighborhood. If you want to stick with JodyJazz, the Jet is a powerhouse as well.
Great video! Thanks for explaining how these work
Thank you!
I have been BAFFLED for years about these things
