The BEST step-up jazz mouthpiece for alto?
And i actually really like the left pinky cluster. Reminiscent of the bundy IIs and of course the original, Selmer Balanced Action.
Both sound great. For over 25 years now I've had the chance to play pretty much every model of Yamaha saxophones going back to the early 90s and on, and they truly are incredible instruments when in proper regulation.
My dream one day to have this
This song and sax player made me buy the Theo Wanne Ambika IV in 7* from JL Winds in New York City…..
Bravo!!!
Love her so much
The ending sounded like R2D2’s scream 😂😂
This is great man ! What kind of reed you use with the RPC ?
Thanks a lot! I think it was a LaVoz medium on this recording, which is still usually what I use.
Thank's !
Bravo!!!!
does this horn has the tone ring just like the super 400 hat&cane one ?
it doesn't have.
Thank you very much !!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! Glad it was useful!
The "unlacquered" horn looks like it is just standard brass with clear lacquer and just doesn't have a color to it. Yes or no? It definitely does not look like the unlacquered horns that have been on the market recently.
Yes, it definitely looks different than a lot of the unlacquered horns out there. Unlacquered can have a lot of different looks, but the most popular recent ones are patina'd ahead of time, so they look darker. This one isn't, so it'd look darker over time as it's exposed to the elements. Our newer version that we should have in soon has a patina applied, so it'll look a little darker. Good question, thank you!
Great training aloha coach Mundo
Thank you!!
Love your set up 🥰
Where are you located?
Great information
Le sapse
4 years old, but I've got to say how great you sound ✌️
I think both ends are not necessary and make it bigger making it less portable
This is the vintage "new york usa" model, yes?
Yep, it's an old New York USA
so metal
Thanks for this. With so much resources out there its easy to get ahead of ourselves without mastering the basics. I need to spend more time on basics.
Black people use a 3
Hey Pete, thanks for all this information on how to navigate over chord changes. I've got two questions; you keep saying concert keys but you don't transpose for tenor? Bit of a rookie but what's your mouthpiece/reed setup? Thank you.
If I say concert Bb, that would be the key of C for tenor. I am calling out concert keys since the workshop is tailored for all instruments. See the handouts indicated in the description above for the discussed tunes and topics for Bb instruments which would include the tenor sax. I play all kinds of mouthpieces. The one I am playing in this video is an ARC made by James Bunte. I tend to use Rigotti jazz reeds on this set-up. -Regards!
I've tried a lot of mouthpieces but for tenor I always come back to my Morgan 6L and it works for all the different kinds of music. My second choice is the Selmer short shank C**. Do you have any opinions yourselves about the Morgan mouthpieces?
I bought a Signature Selmer tenor and I have to say it is way better than any vintage horn in every way- I also play a 1963 Mark VI that is way above average compared to other VIs, perfect intonation and the Signature still wins, I won`t get rid of my VI but my point is...these new Selmer Tenors are fantastic in every way, Selmer finally got rid of the old line of saxophones that kept them in the middle of the pack for years, the Supreme and signature tenors put Selmer where they should be.
I live for the smoky taste!
You have a really nice sound! Can you tell me which mouthpiece you use?
Dave!!! You made it into my algorithm!
Ha! Hi Joe, hope all is well with you! Miss playing tunes with your trio out at sea! :)
2 is waaaaaaay too soft for me, 2.5 starts to feel soft too. Maybe 3?
You can get. 2.75 synthetic reed, right in between
Skerik is the best!
Wow man! - all that hype and bluster and the horn sounds like shit
Leo all growed up! I dig the long hair!
Hi, what mouthpiece and number and what reeds are you using thank you
I wish I had known. It was in my birthday
This isnt leo, this guys feet were not even moving
I have Berg Larsen mouthpiece for my tenor - 105/2 SMS 7 - and I really love it. My tenor is old Kohlert Regent.
Dude! This is some killer tenor tone! And a wonderful solo on this beautiful ballad! I’d buy everything if I thought I could sound like this, but alas, I have to shed more. Seriously, nice video and great playing. I really do love your tone. I have not considered a large chamber piece, but maybe I will give the large chamber Theos a look. Thanks!
😩😍🔥💋♨️😘🥰😱
I’m a soprano sax!
This cat is incredible!
Nice playing man...makese seriously consider getting one of dem baby's
I'm an ex Turkish clarinet player and I just started to play the saxophone. I'm used to reeds which are even softer than 1 and I can produce a stuffy sound with it. I bought a legere 2.25 reed and even that feels too strong for me. I'm gonna try the vandoren zz 1.5 now. Any suggestions?
Vandoren is a bit harder than other reeds in my experience. I've had some from Vandoren that were way too hard for my tip opening, as well as too soft. So, maybe something that is made from Rigotti cane or single origin cane could give you better consistency, and a better idea of where you actually are on reed strength.
Great video. I went from using a berg Larsen 105/1 to a super jet 10 on alto. I loved the superjet but then my embochure was getting tired so I went to a 7. It felt good. I recently bought a DV alto7 and have been experiencing with reeds, Boston Sax shop 2.5,3 and waiting on a Venn 2.5 to arrive to try it. I think I may need a DV8 cuz I feel the DV7 too close. Or do I need to adjust my playing habit? I play Norteño music and the main piece on that are bergs but I wanted something different
Oh man.I bought one of These to practice silently at home. But it is shit. Mechanically and sound is shit too.
Here we have the beauty of intelligence and skill. 🎉🎉🎉❤
Useless video. Why didn't they clean the older mouthpiece? Because this product does not work on that one.
Wow great idea thanks so much for the lesson
Thank you!! Always glad to hear that it's useful!
Great vid just came across your channel dave it is well set out easy to follow thanks so much for taking the time out to post.
Thank you! Glad to hear that it helped!
