Even if the screen only delivers HD, I think the rest of this phone offers some good value for the money. Firstly, it's actually a "Nokia", it has NFC, it's easy to repair and the spare parts are cheap, even the battery can be replaced on this phone, and the UI also offers some good options. I'm very happy with this entry-level smartphone, it's worth every cent. I bought it for a ridiculous 105 Euros at a discount in the top version HMD Pulse Pro.
Thanks for the review. Mine's the Atmos Blue colorway and is a TA-1589 with 4GB RAM + 4GB virtual RAM with 128GB storage. Gave some of the selfie gestures a go on my Pulse like the peace sign gesture in the camera app-makes snapping selfies a snap!
Thanks for this review. The guaranteed OS updates is a win. Not sure about the processor, but hopefully this would serve as a great backup phone that will last.
You’re welcome. And yes definitely good to see OS upgrades at this price point, but processor does let the phone down unfortunately, 100% as a back up/second phone it would suffice
I have a Nokia G10 that I bought for my son as a temporary phone. It has a very similar spec to the HMD Pulse. The processor on both phones is slow but not unusable. Having a slow processor is actually an advantage because with a slow processor battery life is in the G10 an industry beating 3 days. Another feature which help improve the battery life in both phones is a large display which hides a huge battery. The battery life in both phones is also helped by its LCD display rather than an OLED display. I think that the similarly specified new HMD Vibe is a better buy because it has a much better Snapdragon 680 processor. Unfortunately the HMD Vibe is only available in America.
I had a Samsung A05s. The screen was 90hz, but it eats the battery.I turned it down to 60hz and it looked just as good. Most of us don't care as long as it looks ok. 60hz is fine, so is 720p on a phone. 720p is ok even on a 32 inch TV. Like you say, the battery life is more important. If I want to game I'll do that on my PC. Top end phones can open an app in fractions of a second, but who cares? Is you time that valuable that you can't wait 1-2 seconds. Lots of people demand super fast performance, but there is little real life gain.
Thank you! Appreciate that. Budget tablet wise, I would say the Honor pad X9 is a good choice, also the Lenovo Tab M11 is good too (more for productivity)
Really nicely done content mate. Sooooo many TH-cam reviews I find untrustworthy cos they want free stuff, so don't discuss negative aspects of a given product like they should. I'll definitely check out your channel mate.
I got my son G14 its epic for the price and you can boost to 8gb ram he has lots of games and has 10+ apps open and still works flawlessly. I have edge 30 ultra wanting edge 50 ultra.
@typicaltechlad I got a few screen protectors for the samsung s22 for free so i thought that i should upgrade to the S22 from the oppo A57it's been gettjng slower with every update its not broken just slow, do you think i should wait till the new EU laws are updated? (laws about replaceable batteries and right to repair)
I recomand a G42 5G over this. Kosts 200eur at the moment but has a faster cpu and is more fun to use. Still no phone for gaming, but enough for the rest.
Good review but the screen resolution is 1612*720. So there is no point watching anything above 720p. The AO5s has 1080p. I just sold my one. You can buy the HMD for £69, The A05s cost me £100. It was 128gb, but I have plenty of MSD cards for extra storage anyway. The HMD has NFC, my A95s did not have NFC. I think the specs vary from country to country. But the way I see it, they are both budget phones. I have a habit of dropping phones and I save 50% on the HMD. Honestly on a screen that size, who can really notice the difference between 720 and 1080? Even 480 is fine on most phone screens. For £70 it is a decent phone for every day usage. If you break it or lose it, no big deal.
I was a fan of HMD Nokia around 2018, they were pretty great around that time and I was hoping they'll make Nokia relevant again. Then they announced they'll no longer making flagship phone in 2020, ended their partnership with Carl Zeiss in 2021, making a phone with 5 year old unisoc sc9863 and micro usb charging port in 2022, and finally announced no more Nokia branded smartphone starting 2024. As for this HMD Pulse, I see no reason to buy them over Nokia G22. Basically the same phone with same gimmick... repairability means nothing if the phone itself not worth to fix after 2 year. Sorry for my rant, I'm just very disappointed with HMD.
Want figerprint and nfc.. On HMD pulse phone for £69 in uk does basics.. On budget.. Date November 30th 2024. Try argos.. £69 for hmd pulse - colour (black)
This 79€ phone is similar to 75€ Xiaomi Redmi A3, but has 1 GB more ram and 13mp instead of 8mp cam. And as european you support european company. That is why i gonna buy this one. I still have a Xiaomi but i need second phone, and it is also better to have 2 brands from 2 different continents in case in future there is a problem with one company....
I thought they'd be more Nokia phones possibly bearing the new Nokia logo. Disappointing. I saw from few articles and videos that these hmd phones have terrible cameras.
I was so hopful for hmd Thought they will change Will bring new things Os But it is so depressing It just feels like they don't want to be successful;(

Nice unbiased depth review and good explanation. Thanks so much. I will buy it because it's my budget and love stock and will software updates
Thank you bro, glad you found it helpful, I hope the phone serves you well 👍
Stock android + UniSoc T606 just works best for daily use. Mine moto e13 with 2/64 is just giving better usability. This one have 4 gigs ram.
U already bought it before this video 😏
@@typicaltechlad месяц пользуюсь, очень доволен! Норм. телефон
You do phone performance review with less than 20% of battery left... why?
He doesn't care about battery life
Thanks for the review.

Hey, thank you! I try to provide an honest review and one that will help the viewer
HMD make great phone 👍🏻. I will surely buy one of them later. I currently use a Nokia X20

One of my favorites phone 📱 I promise I will get it one day
Hope you can get it 👍

On the plus and pro models, I'd rather have seen better processors than cameras...
So HMD can push out the successor out a year later
Good review, thanks. Looks just like my Nokia G22 that I use as a backup phone except with different cameras.
Thank you 🤩 yeah looks like a lot of the design language has been taken from previous Nokia phones
So are these what we normally know as being Nokia ?
I recomand a G42 5G over this. Kosts 200eur at the moment but has a faster cpu and is more fun to use. Still no phone for gaming, but enough for the rest.
Better go for G42 since it's a Snapdragon powered phone
Wireless charging?
Oukitell wp33 20,000 mah battery the phone is a beast

I wish they redesign old nokia phones with current tech. That would be great.
That would be amazing, I loved the original Nokia 8600 Luna, would love to see a modern version of that
To newpies not familiar with hmd - they are Nokia.. Just new name they replace (hmd)
Like am using it ❤❤

Also...most people will still take their phone to a technician anyway. I doubt anyone will be able to repair it themselves
eMMC or ufs sir?
I believe it is UFS 2.2
Great phone tbh, for the price its a very good investment ^^. But any case for it? Lol, repair, but no volontary break huh… ^^

I think it's a great device at 99 quid.
Wow ❤
Better off with the moto g14
@kssis86bYeah no because you still get stuck with a 720p display unisoc t606 lol
After being fooled by Samsung m55. I have decided my next smartphone will be hmd
HMD had started very poorly.
Really. You can buy them for 79 and it has everything most people need. 2 os update . Hmm seems a steal to me
I thought they'd be more Nokia phones possibly bearing the new Nokia logo. Disappointing. I saw from few articles and videos that these hmd phones have terrible cameras.
A curious question: Are there people over eighty years of age who are very elderly people who own and will use modern smart phones??👍
Yes. My partner's parents are in their late 80s and they both have iPhones. They're always on WhatsApp and facetime.
I was so hopful for hmd
Thought they will change
Will bring new things
Os
But it is so depressing
It just feels like they don't want to be successful;(

Better off with two cans and a piece of string 🤔
Seemingly these phones aren't selling well. That's the conclusion because their prices have come down over recent weeks.
People will definitely only look or choose the Pro for bare minimum, except for a simple back up phone
LCD PANEL WOW FUTURE TECHNOLOGY....3033...AMAZING....🤣🤣🤣😂😂
PUBG 90 fps
Noob ra phone 😅😅😅😅😅😅 shameful hmd brand..
Better than India lava smartphone
