When your curing, if you have a heat spike, pull your nails out, let them cool, put them back in, pull back out. Do this back and forth until the time is up. Usually heat spikes are caused by product being too thick. Try applying thinner coats and curing in between each coat. Having a lamp that pulses the light also helps with heat spikes.
@Katelyn Cecelia Everything I have watched from Nail Techs say the biggest issue to prevent heat spikes is to not have the product too thick. A flashing light in the lamp really helps with this. I'm not a nail tech, but have been doing my own nails since 2016. You can research this online too.
This is my favorite nail extension look by far. It used to be popular in the late 80's and 90's in Los Angeles. When I moved to Atlanta, no one knew what I was talking about when I asked for gel nails. I would just get my nails done whenever I went back to Los Angeles. Now I can do them myself (potentially)
I love this set!! I like how you applied the light pink toned gel to your nail-beds, it gave it a more natural look!! The reason why you get burning is you’re applying thicker layers of gel onto your nail-beds and if you put them all the way into the lamp you will get burning. Some lamps have settings which allow you to decrease the heat by half, which can help with the burning. If you don’t have a lamp with that feature, you can slide your hands/fingers in and out of the lamp as you feel the burning start. When the burning subsides, then slide your fingers back in. You can do this until the burning stops and then leave your hand in for the full cure time. This usually helps people get past the burning. Also, the reason you didn’t have burning when you only applied gel to your tips, was because you weren’t applying gel over your nail-beds.....it was just the tip or the free edge of the nail. Hope this helps!
I feel like this look is one I should be trying to master bcuz of those girls who want to get a natural look but still have their nails done and are tired of french nails and nudes. Perfect 💜
It's pure perfection, isn't it?! Every time I do a fresh set I think about leaving it like that but then I do some crazy design LOL! But it's just beautiful!
‘Beauty is pain.’ Also, it burns because it’s not a cool gel. That burning sensation is actually the chemicals in the gel reacting to the heat of the lamp. You can try the putting it in, taking it out method for the first ten seconds or so then cure normally the remaining time
Omg thank you for actually showing this w tips ! I went through so many videos listed as tips but they were just whole press on type nails , glued on a nail w gel over the top ... I appreciate you
I have had so much trouble finish filing my nails into shape perfectly..and watching your videos (a thousand times lol), I have now realized so many things that I haven’t been doing right. For example, you always hold whatever nail ur filing to keep it stable..just that little thing alone helped me tremendously..it’s the little things like that I now realize are so important..ty for your videos!
HERE'S A TIP TO HELP WITH THE PAIN. To avoid the pain from the heat of the gel going under the lamp do 1 nail at a time, do a flash cure 10 seconds and less gel, the gel should be thin for each layer. If you have the small flash light LED lamp that will work perfect as you go thru the initial process on each nail. Use the bigger lamp as you finish. Hope this helps. 💅 this will avoid a lot of the heat exposure from the lamp.
You made me get out all my old ibd gels and tips and redo my nails. I forgot how pretty and natural they look compared to other options . Some of my nails didn’t even need a tip and they look so good!
You already know I am obsessed with your gel application and I am so happy when you post!! These are soooooo gorgeous! Thin and smooth and flawless....everything they should be! Definitely try holding your hand outside of the lamp for 30 seconds, and then put them inside for the full cure. That gel must cure very quickly if you're getting that bad of a heat spike. You should only get a heat spike the first layer that you cure, after that there should not be any pain. Thanks so much for this beautiful video!!!💕💗💕💗
You can also reduce the pain of heat spikes by just putting your hand in the lamp for a second at a time and then pulling it out for a few seconds. You can do this several times and then the gel won’t burn you. Sometimes I will go in and out 5 or 6 times and even hold my nails right outside of the lamp so the nails can still cure from the lights, just not directly inside the lamp. This works great!
very pretty!! another tip for heat spikes is put your nails just in front of the lamp instead of all the way in for 10 seconds then put them in, The light coming out of the lamp will be enough to start the curing process without the intense light. still put them in and out a couple of times after that and you should be good to go :-)
All hard gels burn in LED lamps. The heat spike is actually a friction burn when curing fast. Hard gel doesn't burn if cured in a UV lamp as it cures slower. It was actually designed to be cured with UV. Both lamps will cure properly though. Beautiful set!
Beautiful, thank you ! I was looking for a video of somebody using tips with gel just to see if it will work as I will find it easier doing it this way. Couldn't find many of those videos but yours is very very helpful !
The heat spike is bc the gel cures so fast. I find it helps if I don’t put my hand all the way into the lamp. I place my hand under just enough for the light to hit a little keep there for 10 secs or so and then put my whole under the lamp. I hope this helps!! Absolutely gorgeous set!! I must try this
Beautiful set! A quick note though: I noticed you swiped the SuperBond on your cuticles. You should be a bit careful with your primer. It's not good to get it on the skin because you can develop an allergy over time. Try to keep it only on the nails.
I want to do these in dip powder. This gel set will always be my very favorite look. The shaping is perfect! I wish I had not developed that gel allergy!
WOW Girl your nails look so natural. Thank you so much for showing this because I have been trying to find a video like this. I will definitely be buying these tips. Thanks again and your nails are beautiful.

A little pain for a little beauty. YES I've experienced pain with name brands gels IBD gel and probably Veralisa gels which I love. Beautiful natural nails set💜🧡
Just beautiful! Just the inspiration that I have been needing to get my butt in gear and put a new set of natural looking gel & tips on, too! I've been without nail extensions for 3 months, 9 months since I did my last set like this and just let them grow out. Time for some new nails, I can keep this playing in the background to keep me motivated!
They look lovely. You can speed up the application process by applying without all the circling - just applying in slow sweeping strokes like regular nail polish but, keep the nail pointing downwards and then, before curing, obvs, tip the hand over after application to get a uniform shape that saves on filing.
There gorgeous!! I had a hard time working with En Vogue. Creative brisa was really easy for me but the quality didn't compare. Ur nails remind me of America manicure
Same here, if I do gel it burns. But flash cure them for a couple of seconds before the complete cure solved the burn problem for me. I hope it'll work for you too. Gorgeous nails, as always 😍
I’ve been told to place the hand just outside of the light where they can still be hit by some light but not full force. Allow them to begin to cure(about 20 seconds) and then slowly move them further into the lamp to fully cure. I might be completely wrong but worth the try
I use a freestanding uv torch to start, place my hand a ruler length away gradually getting closer with no sudden heat spike. Once at the torch I just pop it under the normal lamp, takes a little longer but completely avoids the heat spike. Hope this helps someone :) BYW I love these nails, could look even more natural with a matte finish topcoat which you then buff to a gentle satin sheen
HELP WITH AVOIDING THAT BURN!!! To help with the passion u can flash cure ten seconds and take ur hand out twice before or start curing your nails outside the lamp and slowly move your hand into the lamp all the way.
