- After the major setback with valve guides and seals, a complete engine removal, and half of the motor torn apart, I finally got the cobra back together and running! Been absolutely slamming miles on this thing and enjoying every minute! But did we fix the problem?? Happy Memorial Day weekend to all of our service members, first responders and fallen heros. lol to be fair they are all pretty much made in the same plants. The Clarios plant I do contract work at does AC delco, Mopar, motorcraft, Toyota, interstate, and a few others I can’t remember off hand.

Dude it came out fantastic. You say paint correction..........to me it looks flawless. I've commented on past videos saying I have a sonic blue f250 6.8 v10 and damn dude I wish my paint looked as good at that. I'm a diehard ford guy and sonic blue is by far my favorite color ford put out.

I built a 5.0 stroker 2 Valve years ago. 15lbs of boost. It smoked for a few hundred miles. 500 mile break in. No smoke. Dyno 535 RWHP. Ran that motor for 15 years running low 11’s. I think if it puffs now it’s rings that are not fully seated yet. Unfortunately my oil pump crapped out. Just built another 5.0 stroker with a 3.2 Kenne Bell goin on. Love the channel. My Dyno guess on your set up 572rwhp!

I would suggest going single blade throttle body, I gained 37 wheel just from accufab and a larger inlet prior to blower porting

On my 04 mach anytime i have the front raised on jack stands then back on a ground, the first 2-3 starts afterwards will puff a little smoke. I got it in 07 and has always done it.

Love your work keep up the great content.not sure if i saw it correctly, but you might be having oil smoke do to the pcv system routine.I normally plug the bottom of the intake manifold and put breather or a catch can in the valve covers.just might be your smoking problem.

The car was tuned with a bent valve. So it would probably need another quick tune to make sure the mix is correct across the board and all the cylinders. I would imagine that would take care of any bit of smoking that still exists.

Just throwing it out there for viewers as part of a build or maintenance. I highly recommend changing valve cover grommets, check valve, vent and lines to the booster for high mileage or cars that sat for years. Be surprised how much better brakes are with soft rubber that isnt leaking. Thanks for the great videos.

We just went through the same thing with my son’s mustang after putting some long tube headers on this weekend. However, I drove an hour away just to pick up some Motorcraft 02 sensors. You are such a stickler for perfection!!! It killed me to see you get an aftermarket sensor 😓
Hate to break it to you but NTK manufactures the o2 sensors for motorcraft lol

People used to swap solids in these all the time back in the day it isn't like some rare mod that people don't know about it was one of the go to mods if you drag race. It's alot lighter and more simple.

One thing you forgot to do and that is to reset the odometer back to 000000 because you literally rebuilt that engine. Oh and thanks for the info on that handheld light. Picked up one from Harbor Freight last week.

Thoroughly enjoyable video. Lots of work for Chris but it makes for great content. Hopefully this fix is the charm! You really need at least 500 miles to be sure. Then you can put the boost to it. I am at the same point with my 03 Cobra's new engine too. Good Luck!

40:27 chris u have been killing it I'm not agreeing nor disagreeing u deserve every smile this car makes u and sounds and thumbs up from other car gurus my engine was a fully built forged engine high compression not cobra 04 mach1 and on me first start up just a wiff of smoke and clear as water so I hope there's nothing wrong with your engine and maybe it's what u said the guide maybe slight worn or engine expects more boost either way I'm just comparing peanuts to peanuts. And I have no smoke. Haven't driving it yet so who knows cross my fingers. Needs a tune soon. But either way love this car honestly cobras are my dream car but didn't have the loot to buy one so next best thing rite ,? At the time. But now with what I've got invested in my mach I could of had a pretty nice cobra low miles. Anyways jabering away. Keep it up brotha love the car !!!!!
I wouldn't sweat the smoke coming out the tailpipe. Are you experiencing noticeable oil burnoff? How's the engines compression? Terminators are known to smoke a little bit on a cold start. You can look it up on SVTP or whatnot. It's just one of the characteristics of a Terminator, kind of like if you squat down by the front wheelwell while it's idling you'll hear some ticking. It's a fully forged engine, and kind of noisy. It doesn't necessarily mean your valve guides are bad, but if it's extreme tick, then they may be bad. Same with tailpipe smoke. It's kind of like when you buy a LS1 car and notice some valve knock on cold starts. It can be concerning at first, but then you learn it's just the nature of the engine, and it doesn't mean it's hurt, and you don't need to stress over it.
With a Terminator you have to accept that while it's a fun, fast, raw, pissed off Mustang, they all left the factory with some gremlins. There's probably 50 gremlins a Terminator can potentially have, and every Terminator is guaranteed at least 2-3 of those possible gremlins, but which gremlins does your particular Cobra have is the mystery.?.? 🧐
This has been a great timeline of rebuilding the cobra 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Had the same problem with the o2 sensor bung on the headers on my 72 ranchero. Overtime the moisture in the exhaust buggers up the o2 threads. A quick fix is getting a $8 o2 sensor thread chaser from amazon and it is as good as new.
Now you need the ford lighting with same paint and engine thatd be sick

@@ChrisSullivan69 just a quick Florida trip. You drive by me on the way back up with the lightning lol. MS3 can be tuned fully remote though if you get fed up with o2 sensors.
