I've been working in Advertising for 6 years now and have realized it's not a very fulfilling life and it's definitely not where I want to be in the next 5 years. While I didn't hate/love my job, it was a paycheck, it was security and I didn't mind that, but a big change happened last month, I was let go after 2 years. While it absolutely crushed me, it put everything into perspective. If I hadn't been let go, I'd be there for the next 10 years and wonder where the hell the time went. It's time for me to take a MASSIVE step into creating something I love. 1 month ago I didn't know ANYTHING about cameras/editing/film etc, but I've invested time every day into learning and becoming better. I love creating, that's what I'm meant to do. Currently, I have no job but that's alright because now I have TIME! It's time to create! ps. I created a little film on my channel (it's VERY beginner, but I'd love for you to check it out!)
The thought of taking the bigger jobs is definitely feeding my "Imposter Syndrome" feelings. I shoot music videos and I now have a opportunity shoot for someone who was once Grammy nominated. Man I wish I didn't know that! 🥺
I wouldn’t say I’m scared but exhausted. I have 3 kids ages 10, 7, & 5. With their school, sports, my work and my wife time is a hard thing to manage as you’re exhausted from so many different directions. I’m with you on the gym thing as I have a membership to a gym but never go. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!

This video hits perfect for me. I was in the same place - no balance, nothing getting done. I tend to just shut down when I’m overwhelmed. So I left myself shut down last weekend. I came out with a clear (I call it reset) brain. In my case it is time to let some other people’s things go in order to grow my thing, which is a scary leap. But how I felt was exactly what you described.
I’m literally at the same stage in my life. Deciding whether to hire someone or not is a daunting task. But I finally went through with it. An intern will be joining my channel soon. Hopefully it helps :p (I’m sure it will)
Hi Lizzie!! Great video!! That whole gym situation was actually so funny, I would totally find an excuse to skip the gym if I lived 2 minutes away from it!!! However I completely understand the whole stressful and lost feeling during this entire year. You definitely still did more than you probably think and you might just not be realizing that! Getting help is a big part of life in general, which I think I’ve just recently figured out as well. Just that fact that you need help with certain things such as an editor is going to help someone else out at the same time! I am one of the people who actually sent in an application to be your video editor (sent yesterday😋), and this opportunity could be a huge step for me. It would possibly help me out with a great connection into this industry all while I simultaneously help you get some sh*t done😋 It’s crazy how the world works like that. Someone needs help, gets that help, and that help is helping out another person....lots of help involved, and a tongue twister lol!
Mitchell Coyle glad to hear you’re considering it! You really won’t regret it. It’s always a process which I think so many people don’t realize. It’s making small changes little by little before you get to one BIG adjustment. You can go at your own pace! It’s just important to be self aware enough to know when something isn’t working anymore
I recently brought on a brand strategist and content developer to help me in my web design business, and even just having initial conversations with them to flesh out new plans and project ideas has been immensely valuable. It's hard for me to delegate and put out that money (as a freelancer myself), but it is so-o-o worth it!
Hey Lizzie thank you for this insight! Especially nowdays when we only see the positiv side of creation. It is easy to asume all the other ones get their shi* done easy. So when I look at my problems like self-doubt, stress, depression I something thing only I have those problems. But this is not true! So thank you for youre honesty and the tips! cheers Daniel

I accidentally clicked this video and its so weird that im in the same situation right now, i have too much on my plate, exhausted, i got 6 months gym membership but came only 5 times. i’ve also been thinking about hiring an assistant, but im not really sure because im a control freak. I was just this morning talking to another TH-camr about his this morning, I use to work with another company & they would do all my editing & such, I was starting to feel like I was falling behind in learning so this one I am afraid to let go, I will probably get someone in time to help out when I get busy but this is 1 thing I am scared about letting go
