    Just did my first TW200 moto camp trip. basically just loaded my backpacking gear into some saddle bags and did the rest like you did. It worked really well. The one thing I needed was a chair! it gets rough sitting on logs after a while. and btw poop bags and poop tube is the way to go, even if its just a back up you never know if you are be camping in a spot that is just too hard to dig a cat hole either from rocks or the land is just so rugged you can't go far enough from camp or a water source. It's also just super freeing knowing you could poop anywhere anytime no worries lol.

      I love my little lightweight Helinox Chair One! It fits perfectly on my front Man Rack: flic.kr/p/UzuSgH

    FYI Best Practice = bury your solid waste 8” down and pack out your poopy paper in a separate Ziploc bag. Not a big deal and insures no TP flowers left behind.

    That's a lot of stuff, but you forgot what to me is by far the most important things. And they take up a lot of room. And that is stuff to fix flat tires with. Just about every other off road trip I have taken I have had a flat tire. I don't know what you have in your tool bag, but for flat tires, you will need wrenches that can remove both wheels, tire irons, some type of tire mounting lubricant, either a small 12V compressor or a hand pump, On a TW200 you will need TWO new tubes (and they are huge and take up a ton of room) because of the big difference in front and rear tire sizes. With most of the flats I've had, and I've had dozens over the past 30 years or so, the tube is too badly chewed up to patch, because by the time you realize you have a flat tire, whatever punctured it has wiggled around and cut up the tube. I do carry a patch kit, and a bottle of Ride On with me, in the event that the tube can be patched. Sometimes a patch will leak just a tiny bit, Ride On will seal a tiny leak like that in the tube. Sadly you cannot get the super thick 4mm tubes (stock tubes are about 1mm thick) for the TW200. I used to have those in my XT225, and had noticeably less flats, and tubes damaged beyond repair. Then you have to have a way to support the bike while removing and reinstalling the wheels, and while you are fixing the flat. I do not trust those "prop rods", I want something actually attached to the bike. I welded a bracket to the right side of the swing arm with a 1/2" hole in it, so I can use the sidestand on the left side (with a piece of 2x4 under it to prevent overstressing the sidestand) then use a 1/2" piece of threaded rod as a prop rod, bolted to the bracket welded on the swing arm so it cannot slip and let the bike fall over. That is to remove the rear wheel. I have another similar bracket bolted to the right front footpeg mount for the front wheel. Almost never have I had a flat where there was a log or rock nearby to lift the bike up on. Many people actually count on there being something nearby to support the bike. Yamaha could have avoided ALL this mess simply by equipping the TW200 with tubeless wheels and tires.

      I have a bicycle pump that I have carried for years as I have changed a lot of tubes in the desert. Here, I am carrying the same tool in my tool kit. As far as tube, I carry only the front and the hope is I can use it in the rear. One day I will test my theory...

      @@YAMAHATDUBCLUB I think I would test that theory at home, just in case it doesn't work.

      Thank you sir! When you look at folks who are traveling around the world by bicycle, they are PACKED! But, they are packing a lot smaller and smarter these days! The website that has been my lead of inspiration is bikepacking.com/bikepacking-101/ • once you read all that, read: bikepacking.com/gear/ • there are some very interesting reads in that site!! Everything comes from somewhere! If you can carry it on a bicycle, we can carry it on a TW200. Truth be told, Jason, owner of Pedals Bikeshop in Riverside, CA., and myself have built a couple of these bike packing bikes and have made a couple campouts from the bikes. It’s why I have the smaller/lighter Big Agnes Fly Creek High Vol UL 1 tent. But for moto camping, the REI Passage 2 is hard to beat! Especially because I scored it at the REI bi-annual year sale! OH! I can’t forget my original source of inspiration too! ADVrider.com !!! It’s a forum that been around a long time for people who love adventure travel by motorcycles! I’ve spent a huge chunk of my life in that forum! Just search GCRad1 and 950ADV and my old thread should come up!

    Will the Cycleracks side racks fit with the rear rack you currently have on there? I believe they mount at the same point on the footpegs. Could be wrong though.

    • @YAMAHATDUBCLUB
      @YAMAHATDUBCLUB  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why yes! The Cycleracks side-racks are made specifically for their rear racks! I intend on purchasing them so I can easily mount my Rotopax fuel can on the TW200 with having to remove all the camping gear! I will also add a water Rotopax on the other side as well for long trips. What is cool about the Cycleracks side-racks is there ease of mounting and removal for the weekly commutes and or more “enduro’tasic” sessions.

      Its easy to overpack. After a few trips, you realize there are items you don't need and you pare back. I'm curious if you've reduced this load?
