The meta is the biggest problem currently because it's one of the "cheaper" decks that is a complete powerhouse so more players can have it. Perhaps diversity is around the corner with the ban list.
Everytime I remember what is Larry's job, I don't know what's weirder to me. A police officer playing yugioh or a Yugioh player being a police officer.

Man, that convention was fun. I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh in years (except Duel Links) and so much has changed...but I finally bought newer Toon cards I wanted for over the past decade and the non-legal God cards 😅 I still love the artwork on these cards and kept most of my deck I've had since high school. I also didn't think I'd ever have my Pegasus Funko Pop signed until this convention was announced!

This channel as well as master duel made me want to pick up paper Yu-Gi-Oh. I'm not glad with the amount of $$$ involved but I'm glad to find a game I want to play.
It's a lot of fun, though it can be very overwhelming at first. Thankfully, there's plenty of good beginner decks out there that don't cost much. I'd look into Fur Hire, for example.

Can't blame Larry for liking MTG. The artwork on those cards are out of this world.
Somewhat. Lately there's been a lot of complaints that the artwork is becoming homogenized and bland. Some cards have really nice pieces, but it's generally tied to older cards or "special" cards now. A LOT of cards in any given "base" product/set have really homogenized generic art at this point. It makes sense though when you consider that WoTC are pumping out new sets literally every month at this point in an effort to part people from their money faster.
Yeah, Yu-Gi-Oh has a lot of catching up to do!
The story is also more clearly laid out than Yugioh often. It's a main selling point that MTG uses simple block storylines and then has big ticket events like War of the Spark or Phyrexia's return. Whereas Yugioh....like until Master Duel does a Solomode most of us can only speculate, especially on newer cards.
@@daviddent5662 Massively disagree with this. I think the story is an absurd weakness in Magic. Yugioh literally has a manga/show hand-holding everyone through the story. Magic's story is so laughably bad that they've literally retold 2 of the stories twice now. Nicol Bolas's Planeswalker war is just Ravidel almost to a T & New New Phyrexia is just Phyrexia's war all over again. The stories are SO BAD that any time anyone mentions the books they just point to Brother's War from 20+ years ago as a "must read" and then when asked for more everyone just kinda' shrugs. Lol.
@@pailofawesome I agree Magic's story isn't great but the monsters from the actual YuGiOh cards and archytypes don't have a storyline, you have no idea what their deal is, at least most magic cards have flavour text to give you something
