Adam outplaying himself by bringing a disguise then not using it while getting off the train was so sad yet so hilarious to watch
I wouldn't say it is hilarious it was very maddening to see such a good once in a lifetime idea get screwed up like that. Would've probably won him the game or at least created very funny content of Ben and Sam being confused. Probably more stressful to watch than Ben and Adam's rental car breaking down during the connect 4 challenge at the most crucial moment.
It was infuriating that he didn’t use the disguise and may have one 😂
And also carrying it in his hand so they could see it, preventing him from using it the next time around 😔
I feel like it was part of the script so that it would be easier for them to catch him.

I love how the whole time they thought Adam was masterminding some crazy plan but in actually he was mostly screwed over and confused
The same thing happened when Sam got cursed - the chasers were smart and predicted what he WANTED to do...and then confounded when he never follows through, and assumed he'd pulled some master ploy.
Sam above all should have considered 'did Adam get screwed over by a curse card or something?' when he seemed to not be acting as they predicted.
I feel like a lot of Adam's problems came from him misinterpreting the curse card. The card only said he couldn't do research with his phone. It even specifically said that it could be used to verify challenges and for accounting. So he could've used it for the mile challenge and for calling his bank.
Yeah, he really didn't show his brightest side in this episode
He also could have played it safe at Massey and put the wig and hat back on to further bamboozle them

I was about to say this, if it really was no phone allowed period it makes the challenge SO much more difficult. I feel like there should have been exceptions explicitly written out for stuff like accounting/checking in with your bank to make sure you can even continue the game. Otherwise it’s no fun to catch a sitting duck.
I can't even comprehend the CHANCES of finding John Green not only in the same place, but time, street, intersection, everything, AND being able to spot them, then have the ability to be heard while stopped at the right time and be filming... Wow

It was so funny that they couldn't even conceive that he was waiting out a penalty at the start when talking about why he wouldn't get on transit

@@jedimasterpickle3 I'm fairly sure it's the first time there's been a veto time penalty though- previously there either was no veto as all challenges were on the table at all times and you just had to pick, or you had a cap on vetoes.
@@chrisoddy8744 That is accurate, yes. S1 had a veto limit, and S2 allowed each team to choose what challenges they did.
And they kept doubting the tracker even though it was spot on every time
I love how Adam's curse of no phone actually made him do better, since no one knew what he was doing or where he was going

The curses and veto penalties are really not so bad, at least in a big city. They really make your moves harder to interpret.
Yeah, so far both "curse" cards have in a a way helped those who had them - Sam didn't blunder into a trap at Dunkirk forcing him to stay back and do more challenges, thereby leaving him with more budget and less embarrassment, and Adam managed to use it to evade capture for far longer than he probably should have been able to.
I'm not sure. His walking was unpredictable, sure, but getting to the train station that far in advance and with a slow mode of transportation got him caught.
He mentioned a "tracking phone" around the 5:20 mark (he was talking about still having signal in the station so he wasn't cheating and making it harder to see where he was) which makes me feel like it's a separate device that's being tracked and that card doesn't actually affect his ability to be followed?
I like how there assuming Adam has this great big plan and Adam is just like, “Wow I hope this train is going in the right direction”
Halfway through the episode and I am LOVING this format. The chasers tricking themselves into jumping on a random train while Adam was just stranded at the station fiddling with his ticket was so hilarious.
The John Green cameo was the best thing that could've ever happened. Please get him and Hank to be on Jet Lag!!!

Edit: I can't decide which I'd prefer to see. Splitting the Greens could bring out some competitiveness. But having them together on their own team could bring some wonderful sibling chaos.

TOTAL RESPECT FOR ADAM! The guy could not use his phone, had his debit card blocked, was in one of the biggest cities in the world, without even speaking the language. A lot of people would have given up, but it took a train genius to get him caught. BRAVO, SIR.

The disguise idea was genius, what was not so genius was not wearing it when he got off the damn train!
I reckon it might have worked if he had no trouble at the gate, but only if he hadn't stopped to read a sign there AND kept his confidence. without that confidence, he would have stood out like a sore thumb.

I was really rooting him on too because I felt bad. And if he knew the RER B took half the time it takes the C to get to Massy-Palaiseau, he would've beaten them there. Though I think the RER would count as low-speed rather than a metro, considering the RER is a commuter rail network. It's like saying the Long Island Railroad is a metro because it has stations within NYC.

Seeing Adam not wearing his full disguise at that train station at the end made me mad. Like a perfectly genius plan that he totally blew it. That plan only would've worked once, but now Ben and Sam know about it, it will be hard to pull that off again. Wouldn't it be so much more entertaining to see properly how Sam and Ben would've reacted.

As someone living in paris, there was nothing as stressfull as seeing Adam pointing toward the direction where Sam and Ben would be coming from....
I didn't even know that since it was not explained! Ah man, it really wasn't meant to be then haha. He absolutely lost his chances the day before.
I think him not wearing his disguise at the end was even more stressful to watch. It hurts to see a very genius plan get totally screwed up.
I can't be the only one that is SO frustrated that Adam didn't use the disguise. So what you couldn't find a faster way there that's literally the other teams job. That was by far the most critical time of any bit of his run. I think that he totally could've made it if he had the disguise (and the right ticket). Of all the times to decide not to wear it, that was a pretty stupid one. He did really well otherwise!
only if he had also kept his confidence that he was invulnerable, which happens to be precisely why he didn't care to wear the wig :/ with behavior similar to in central Paris, he would have stood out like a sore thumb. I love how twice Adam managed to escape because he was stuck in a veto in the subway. The other guys just couldn't figure out that he couldn't use the subway yet
I went and checked the street view after the end. And on street view the area where you would be able to be seen, it chooses the other side of the road from either earlier or later on, but only for the area where you guys would have been spotted. You can go on that side, but as soon as it gets to the area you are standing it switches to the side closer, then as it passes the wall it goes back to the other side. I swear they did that on purpose.
Man, I am heartbroken for Adam, I thought he was gonna do it, I thought he'd be unnoticed with the disguise or maybe at Orly he'd find a more direct train by accident. That phone curse was probably the most brutal card to pull, especially as Adam speaks no French. Kinda feel like it could have reset during the rest period?

Facts
The Cursed! card said Adam could verify answers if a challenge required it as well for accounting and emergencies. Calling the bank obviously is an emergency and accounting, and he could've verified how much more he had to walk to make it exactly a mile. He gave himself way too much stress and that's what costed him

I was looking on street view for them, but I don't think they made it onto there. The coverage for the street that the car was on is from when it went the other way, so sadly, no Jet Lag on Street View.

I love Adam's disguise. I want that to be his signature look. From now on, every season of Jet Lag should start with Adam in a wig and a green football jersey.

Honestly the cards need to be published so I can look up the wording freely instead of having to pause the video and zoom back every so often.

To be fair they were in what seemed to be a plaza just outside Notre Dame on the seine, so probably a big funnel for any tourists and travelers.
nah mainly france. I forget if they have gone into belgium yet in this series, but I think they might have. Anyways, just the northern bits of france.
It's the St. Michel bridge and intersection, which is a major crossroads in the heart of Paris. But still, the odds that John's car happened to be going by in those few minutes that Sam and Ben were at that intersection are extraordinary.
Public transport in Europe is so amazing. And look at how nice and walkable and cycle-able everything is!

@@yahoolix I mean its going to be not much different than the average Europeans understanding of North America. There will be some, but a lot of it is tempered by false narratives and a lack of understanding.
I mean how many discussions about trains hold Europe as the paradigm, but lack to show Europes focus on passenger at the detriment of freight. The US is the inverse with much greater utilization of freight than Europe. The infrastructure just has different focuses, but many Europeans will only focus on the moving of people.

really appreciate the accessibility effort in providing color-coded closed captions. this show is amazing, i'm always smiling like a doofus while watching!!
Next episode should be monopoly with every european country the catch is that the teams have a set amount of money and they have have no idea what other countries the other teams have claimed until they get to a country that has been claimed in which case they have to pay the other team (they will only know about that country) the teams must also go to different countries every x hours, whoever runs out of money first loses (all eu countries should be included)

One contestant picks a US state to hang out in then the opponents have to ask questions via phone to figure out which state he’s in, they need to then get to that state and catch the person who can’t leave until they complete a set amount of challenges

Adam's game of going to a suburban station and catching the TGV from there was absolutely the right move instead of getting caught up in Montparnasse quagmire, but wow, Sam is an absolute train genius! Does he look at RER schedules all the time or something (Also, I don't think Adam figured out how the RER schedule codes work)
Adam had NO idea how the RER schedule codes work. He didn't even realize he was going the right way.

John Green is the best moment of Jet Lag ever! Neither Sam & Brian getting on Ben & Adam’s flight or Ben & Adam robbing Sam & Joseph of challenges is anywhere close to that.
I've found this channel about a week ago and I have to say that the concept is really fun. I did notice the production value for the episodes were good especially because the channel seemed to be fairly new, at the same time I had also recognized Sam's voice from somewhere but only fully got it when I looked in the description. To finish this off, I wanna say: keep up the quality content, you all, it's been fun so far :)
