I definitely prefer the SMC versions, as they are true to the original, and many of them have a lot of customization options that make them much better to use. I think that the sprinters for SMC have done a great job making their custom sprites look like they came right out of SMW. It really helps the game feel authentic, while still having items and enemies from modern games. The SMC team is doing a great job!
Definitely SMC. After getting to know some of the spriters for SMC, I know how much work and effort they’ve put into these sprites and I can’t help but not be anymore proud and ecstatic of them.
These are both vastly different editors, but a common pattern I've noticed is that the spriters of Construct have modeled enemies to be faithful to the OG style of 1990 and backward rather than the modernized pixelations in the first SMM. I gotta say I prefer SMC for all of them because of that.
There's nothing wrong in enjoying using both editors, I share the same opinion too in fact! If they do, just ignore them, you have the right to choose the things you enjoy doing ;)
SMC Bowser is more faithful to the original, still both the Bowser sprites look good. I think both of the game's sprites look good. It's kinda weird that the original SMW didn't have hammer bros or bloopers.

The only SMC sprite that I like more for sure is the Bowser one, SMM SMW Bowser looks weird.
When it comes to classic I prefer SMC.
But I do like Spike and Hammer Bros sprite in SMM2
The only ones from SMM I would prefer are Blooper, Rocky Wrench, and the Angry Sun.
If SMC actualize, the Cape Feather will apear, not only the Super Leaf.
The Cape Feather is planned for a future update!

I disagree because the smc sprites stick more to the original and not just try to remake a hole new sprite like what smm2 did to bowser
Those SMC design of Bowser for SMW sprites is so much better than official Mario Maker SMW Bowser sprites.
I like both sprites, one has a touch of modernity and one more retro style

I prefer the Super Mario Maker 2 Sprites! The Goombud looks silly.
