Thx for the reply 😂 actually we are quite lucky here almost never rains and average all round temperatures of 24c .. great for bikers like us 🥳 but a nightmare trying to get spair parts 😤. I bought a used set of carbs for my Z1 1975 from the states .. 2 months ago customs still fooking around with the paperwork… .. chat again soon happy new year don’t work to hard 🎉🙏

I was told by Racetech to put the closely wound coils to the top. Because the other way displaces the oil more/higher causing a air gap difference. Enjoyed the video Tom and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE.

Progressive literature says it doesn’t matter with their springs at least, but all the others with right coils were on top. I’ll probably change these around. The coils are so tight, it’s more like a spacer and they always are on top. So I think you’re right.

I think, when you hit a bump on the road you wanna a softer response of the spring. When you hard brake the force comes from above, your and the bike weight. Then the tighter coils are better on the upper side. Hope you can understand. Greetings from Germany.

Great video, I always put the tight coil up top also.

Motion Pro Fork Oil Level Tool makes that job a lot more convenient.

Could you loosen that 8MM damper bolt while it was still in the bike? or am i missing something else?

Absolutely, just not with the axle in place, obviously. But since the cap bolt is tight to the upper fork tube, the majority of torque is on that, just hold the lower tube and bang that out, or simply loosen it. Cheers.

I'd put the tight coils up to reduce unsprung mass.
Same principle as tight coils down for valve springs.

Probably right, the more I think about it, the coils are so tight, they’re more like a spacer and that always goes up. I’m gonna swap the orientation before installing, unless I find contradictory info. The service manual has zero guidance.

How many "Double entendres" can you insert in one video? The more the better, 🤣🤣🤣.
