I don't think that there will ever be a college team today, like Phi Slama Jama.

People forget that Drexler was 6' 7" and had a forty inch vertical. Never saw a college team play this much above the rim.
Guy Lewis really blew that finals game.

Agreed. Lewis allowed his players to play with their talent every game until that one painful time when he forced them into the unfamiliar "stall ball"....they cracked because they didn't know that offense 😂. Seriously that was the saddest ending as a fan (I was 14 then) that I can ever remember, I'm 52 now and it still hurts me to this day....I can only imagine how the players on that team still have nightmares!

If Clyde Drexler stayed for his senior year, the coogs would have won the national championship against Georgetown.
He left early because he thought the rockets would draft him with one of their 2 first round picks. It was a mistake because they passed him up.

Never ever will be another Phi Slamma Jamma! Only Guy Lewis could stop them from winning at least 2 championships. But in fairness only Guy V was visionary enough to assemble a team like this. “Akeem” started fast breaks with block shots! My goodness. Wish there was just one Rob Williams highlight reel. I would watch it over and over. One of the best & least remember guards in NCAA history.

Great Team..!! Clyde the Glide & Hakeem the Dream.!! Should've won a few titles but ran into Jimmy V & the Wolfpack & Patrick Ewing a year later. College Ball was awesome back then. Great teams, players & coaches. Georgetown & Ewing , Wingate & Jackson. NC & Jordan, Worthy & Perkins. Ralph Sampson @ Virginia the Twin Towers of Kentucky Sam Bowie & Mel Turpin. 1984 NBA draft was Epic.! Olajuwon-Bowie-Jordan-Turpin-Charles Barkley-Sam Perkins-John Stockton -Kevin Willis & Alvin Robertson. A year later in 85 Ewing-Karl Malone & Chris Mullins came out.! Miss this era ...

Michael don’t forget Louisville w the McCray brothers and milt Wagner, St. John’s with Mark Jackson mullin and Walter Berry, Syracuse and pearl Washington. DePaul w Cummings and Aguirre. It was a great run from 81-84

So true, but the 1982 NBA Draft was epic too - James Worthy, Terry Cummings (who won rookie of the year), Dominique Wilkins, Clark Kellogg, Sleepy Floyd, Quintin Dailey (RIP), etc.

Had Terry Cummings been a freshman at DePaul (with Mark Aguirre and company) a year earlier then just maybe the Blue Demons would’ve beaten Larry Bird and the Indiana State Sycamores in the 1979 NCAA semifinals.
