    Jon, you're first class, thanks for the concise and informative rundown. While some may think it's not a simple rig; compared to Luke's massive rack rigs of the 80's it really is fairly simple! For most of us, yea sure it might look to be complicated, but for Jon and Luke this is about as simple as they come given all the glorious sounds that come out of that rig. Go look at many of the other guitarists these days and their pedalboards and/or racks are massive!Someone below mentioned no Boss pedals but his volume pedal looks to be a Boss 500L.
    My wife and I had front row seats (VIP meet and greet) when Toto was in Seattle at the Moore Theater in July 2018 on this tour and it was absolutely the best concert I've ever been to. From soundcheck, to Q&A, to book signing, and concert, it was all amazing. At one point in the concert, something apparently was going haywire with Luke's rig and Jon came out and dove into pulling and plugging wires, all the while Luke kept right on playing and it sounded great even while all that was going on! Amazing the professionalism both Jon and Luke displayed during that minute or so of commotion. They got it sorted out and the rest of the night was amazing.

    That's proved that he doesn't need any super rare equipment such as Klon Centaur or Dumble Amp in his tone. He is the tone himself.

    Like Luke said with recording of Tambu 'getting back to some organic sounds instead of covering it up with a whole lot of technical stuff' same deal really. This is a simple rig making use of right tones and effects in the right place. Guitarists are looking for tone non stop. The evolving of my own rig says that!! If this is simple then I'm just downright complicated stuck in the midi world again. Racking gear has become popular again leaving gear off stage with nothing but a volume pedal, wah, and switcher on stage. Not a bad setup once you learn how to fly it. Thanks for the tour.

      Tomulator I love distortion and fuzz pedals but the Friedman smallbox limited needs nothing. The search ends as did the money. FYI only got it after a lifetime of playing since I was a little kid. Otherwise, I don’t think great gear should be bought until deserved. I don't understand how the short and long delays are after the reverb which is always on , even though this reverb have a pre delay so the picking sound preserved and the note still there and not get splashy , but still its interesting to hear , never saw anyone put his delays after the reverb , i have seen TOTO 3 times from 2013, his sound is unbelievable.

      The tone changes based on the player, it took me years to realize 95% of tone is in the players fingers.

    So it was not made clear.. Are then both amps running effects. The stereo out goes to I assume the main amp and then the other side to the second amp? So no dry amp?

    • @jaycareaga9929
      @jaycareaga9929 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      One side feeds the return of the main amp.
      The other side feed the other amp which is only used for the power section.

    Luke’s pedal board set up here just goes to show there is no one correct chain. He prefers some Modulation (Chorus) before distortion and some (Leslie/Univibe) after, delay before and after reverb. If it sounds good to the player, that’s all that really matters! 😎🎸🖖🏻

    I hate to see the Gaffe tape thing on pedals. Here's a tried and true trick peeps... Put some rubber O-Ring washers under the pedal knobs!! Loosen the knob, put 1 or 2 Rubber O-rings on, press down, tighten the knob and boom, they barely move. Perfect for keeping your pedal settings locked down and non-evasive.

      The reason for the gaff was because lighting was hitting the tube thru the clear window and causing noise. It took us 2 hours of analyzing where the buzz was coming from from. Simple gaff yet again saved the day. I’m so sorry you hate to see gaff but I bet you haven’t been touring so you wouldn’t have a clue...

    Is that a classic Gibson H in the Number 1?
    He’d need to have all his marbles in order to compartmentalize the function of every box in that pedalboard, without depending on any digital preset systems to access everything from one song to the next. No dummies here.
