    We’d hoped to get up into that neck of the woods and possibly dip a toe in Lake Superior last year. If experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want, however, we left with a little more experience instead. 😄 Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip!

    Great video. What boat do you have and how much diesel did you go through.

      thank you! The boat is a Catalina 30 MKIII. I usually burn about 1/2 gallon per hour when motoring. In calm seas that yields about 9 mpg.

    How much pressure is on the helm? When you have just the main up when I had just my Genoa up. Last year there was a lot of pressure on the helm because it was constantly trying to pull away, you know?

      I typically don't sail with just the main up because that does give a bit of weather helm. I find I can usually balance the boat pretty well in calm seas, but when the waves start getting big, it can take a lot of effort to counter the waves (especially quartering seas from the stern)
