    For many years, I have converted Thomas the train to a front yard Christmas train layout. Then I seen your video it inspired me to do something different. Would like show you pictures of what I did with the trains i got from OfferUp.

    That’s awesome. I have been looking to build something exactly like this all others like you said are like gas engines but great job man. Thinking those battery powered lights on the train

      I definitely need to add some flare to it. Can't wait to have a bigger yard and make a bigger track with multiple trains running

    This is so cool. I too have been looking to do this exact thing. I just ordered my train. I hope I can figure out how to do the track. I have watched your video so many times. Thanks for this awesome video.

      I'm glad you liked my video! I've wanted to do this forever, and was surprised no one had a video like this already.
      My biggest advise is to make sure all of your track, especially the turns, are 100% level with no humps or bumps. Be sure to bend all the pipe on a flat level surface. Even the slightest dip will allow the trains front guide wheels to come off track.
      I'm very much looking forward to rebuilding my track this year, and hopefully adding another train.

    Bro this is insanely awesome!! I been wanting to do something exactly like this for years!! Thanks for the idea!! Any issues with the wheels loosing traction on the pvc as opposed to its original tracks? This is so cool!!

      I'm glad you liked my video! I've wanted to do this forever, and was surprised no one had a video like this already.
      Yes I'll admit I did have some issues with the train de-railing but it was due to un even tracks. So my biggest advise is to make sure all of.your track, especially the turns, are 100% level with no humps or bumps. Be sure to bend all the pipe on a flat level surface. Even the slightest dip will allow the trains front guide wheels to come off track

    Nice job. What is keeping the train on the track? Why doesn't it derail?

    • @uncledingovlogs
      @uncledingovlogs  ปีที่แล้ว

      The wheels have a lip on the inside, that's how it "rides the rails" same as it works on the rail tracks it comes with. Check out my new video from last year

      @@uncledingovlogs I couldn't see that, but i see it on your 2nd video. Thanks. Looks like you replaced your pvc track with the amazon track. I thought your pvc track was great! Nice job again. I've built ferris wheels and skating rinks. Looking to add a similar setup.

    • @uncledingovlogs
      @uncledingovlogs  ปีที่แล้ว

      The PVC worked okay but if it warped at all I had a lot of derails. The factory tracks work flawless so I took advantage of that got more pieces when they were available. Eventually I'd like to figure out how to 3d print pieces

      @@troybower9419how did you make the Ferris wheel ? Was it a kit !

    • @troybower9419
      @troybower9419 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@italianballbreaker not a kit. Although i ended up making dozens of kits and selling them once people saw my ferris wheel. I used 1" PVC. Use an octagon calculator to help you determine what size ferris wheel you want. Construct the octagon using PVC and 45 degree fittings. With octagon laying flat on ground, lay PVC at each 45 degree fitting to make your spokes. Pipe will go from the fitting towards the center hub which is built out of aluminum or plywood. The hub should have a hole thru the center for your axel, i used 1" steel pipe. Use pillow blocks to keep the ferris wheel on the axel. Use a slip ring to power lights. I can help more if you need. This is a start.

    Did you have to rewire so it would stay powered on? Did you have any sound effects going? Great vid and inspirational. Thank you. Merry Christmas. Great Job!

    • @uncledingovlogs
      @uncledingovlogs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No rewiring. The switch on the steering wheel has 3 positions. On, off, reverse.
      The train has some pretty cool built in sound and steam functions but unfortunately they only work when you push the button. I'm hoping to rewire them eventually on a toggle switch so I can leave them on

    With no kids on it, the battery should last a long time between charges.
