Literally what I’ve been saying, Walker defenceively has been horrific this whole tournament whilst also contributing nothing in attack, you might as well play Trent who will at least offer something offensively.
he’s played walker because he fits in the formation he’s not going to play trent as a centre back is he. the only player that trent would be able to replace is saka on the right and with how good he played against netherlands southgate had no reason to drop him.

Palmer is quite good. I actually think he could maybe go down as the best of the 3 (him, Foden, Saka), maybe not Foden but definitely Saka. He’s the best passer/play maker of the 3 and he’s got the shooting ability. I actually think he’s a better player than Saka ability wise but he’s only done it for one season so I won’t get too crazy. If he keeps it up he’s gonna be an all-time great

The one time he played Jude next to Rice, Jude looked his best and he got an assist. Shame we only saw it in the last 30 mins of the tournament.
Watching Nico and Yamal was just special man, Madrid can get whoever they want but if Barca reunite those 2 then they’ll always have a chance.
This. People talk about Jude playing as the 10 at Madrid but the system was built around him to succeed there. England doesn’t have the system to support him as the 10. He can use his defensive abilities better playing deeper next to Rice. Let someone more creative and technical play the 10 like Palmer or Foden.

If you want to call it a position it was a false 9 type role. Funny thing is Southgate thought he played in a 10 as well, he should have done some research and should have known there was no striker in front of him

The entire players aren’t good enough. English players are t technically good enough. Specifically in midfield. They were properly outplayed by the Spanish. Zubimendi who plays for “small club” Real Sociedad and was subbed in for Rodri, walked 100 million pound Declan rice all over the 2nd half.

Palmer has played 4 finals and scored 3 goals and this goals where the only goals for his team in 3 of those finals and the most mindblowing fact is that he didn’t start in each of those finals and played few minutes…he is underrated esp in sds just cos he is not Arsenal player and he is a Chelsea player…he can’t even start for England yet he has the highest G/A in epl last season…he is the only creative player in the squad…if he has started Kane and the rest would have had more chances…England would have won

You know you're waffling when even Fuad is defending Saka. Saka is the modern day Sterling, consistently delivering performances in all tournaments whilst other superstars drops stinkers but they get scapegoated because they aren't "Flashy" or have "X-factor".

I hate the narrative that pragmatic teams win trophies, sure Portugal did it. Every other major trophy winning team I can remember in recent history has played good football.
1. France when they won a trophy (not in the recent finals) had high scoring games 4-2 Croatia, 4-3 Argentina.
2. Italy in Euro went 40 something games unbeaten.
3. Argentina played some amount of sexy football.
4. Spain speak for themselves.

But when they actually won the world cup, they had pogba, greizmann and mbappe playing and combining to play very well. Only after Pogba dropped out, have they been defensive, and haven't won anything since.
Italy were stingy in the final, but their midfield at the time and wingers controlled the game and just didn't fall back. So while I agree with your words, there aren't enough examples of it working in the modern times.

This euros i realized how well protected Foden is. Nowhere near the level of scrutiny that other players get, that too for playing better than him (i.e Saka, Bellingham etc)

20:19 I did 😌. To be honest they were good throughout 2023 but what moved me was the last few games before the tournament. Also, there is an art to squad selection that people don't talk about cos like having a squad where there isn't a big drop off in many positions is an underrated advantage. They had that advantage in the whole defence (plus goalie), midfield bar rodri and in CF. Italy had that too in 2021. If you really focused on them it was clear they would do well.
Yeah I agree with you. It was clear even before the tournament that Spain had the best fluidity and quality with the way they balled.
Also, one of the biggest problems that PL fans had, is that they heavily underestimated the Spanish squad. Well now they’ve etched themselves as one of the big favourites for the upcoming world cup.

Most attacks, goals came from a play either Jude assisted/scored/started.

Coming into the tournament England had that in Bellingham, foden and kane based on there great season. But they underperformed this tournament. Most people who watch alot of spanish football knew spain have young talent like Yamal and nico but none of spains Forwards have had a season like those 3 English players I listed. So you can't say they don't have superstars. Spains talents are superstars and now it's there time to take over 😂

Not playing Gordon on the left as carvajal was nowhere near tested for his pace. Foden being forced in which pushes Bellingham out of position, ruins the effectiveness of the team. Also Kane should not have stayed on as long as he did. As soon as he came off for Watkins, you can see the immediate panic as the CB’s have to watch for the in behind passes.
Carvajal has 15 years career winning everything, starting for Madrid for years, has 300-400+ games and played against the best players of the world including Mbappe and Neymar but yeah he’s « nowhere near testes for his pace » shut up man 😭😭 stick to the prem and save us

i completely agree that harry kane has been horrible this tournament but this man is the best striker itw in my opinion, broke records for bayern this season, the way southgate sets up does not bring out his strengths or the rest of the teams strengths, i believe that kane can definitely be revitalised in a team where southgate isn’t the manager
