Now I have a mixture of everything,r/b,hip hop, jazz, trap, funk, soul, gospel,a little rock music. The older I get the more I want to listen to other types of music.
Timmy was referring to an act who wrote and produced their entire album without the need of the label. Guy, and Al B Sure on Uptown at the time. Heavy D had Teddy riley co-produced his first album
Timmy Gatling is the only one who owns publishing rights from the Guy album because unlike Teddy Riley and Aaron Hall, he didn't sign away to Gene Griffin
If I'm not your lover. Al B Sure and Kyle West have said in recent interviews that Teddy co-produced the entire album but when Gene Griffin came into the scenes Andre Harrell didn't give Teddy any album credit to avoid Gene Griffin causing more trouble after beating him up at the Uptown Records office
For one, I wonder why this is an issue now?! After all these years. Well after Andre has passed and is not able to give a neutral recollection of what happened. Both Teddy and this man here have their own memories of what happened. Everyone lives a different life, so not everyone will recall things the exact same. I will say, this man must not understand audio engineering and production. You can record ANYWHERE on a song. Your vocals can then be placed elsewhere along that beat. As long as the melody, tempo, and pitch all match the beat backing. Even in those times that was extremely possible!🤷🏾♂️
He wrote all the songs on the Guy album. He heard Aaron Hall singing and they started Guy and asked Teddy to produce for them before he eventually joined. He came up with the name of the Guy and image. Now he's the only one who owns publishing rights and approves sampling of the songs because he refused to sign the contract that Gene Griffin put forward to gain control of the group. That includes the written, audio and video interviews by everyone from Heavy D, to Aaron Hall from Guy, to Damion Hall from Guy, to Chauncey from Blackstreet, to Keith Sweat, etc. IDK if Teddy is lying, if he uses drugs, if he is delusional or if he just forgets. There are a few other musical geniuses that I can think of who repeatedly give horrible interviews or inaccurate information in their interviews; R.I.P. Bernie Worrell, Marley Marl and Rakim. But Rakim is getting better an his book was fantastic. I think Rakim is a written word kind of guy more so than an spontaneous conversation type guy. I wish I knew what Teddy's interview problem was, because I've been in love with his work since Kids At Work - Singing Hey yeah.
Have you seen Teddy's interview on Red Bull Music Academy?
😅 I couldn't have said it better myself 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I remember an interview teddy did with Oprah abt him lying abt all these MJ records he claim he produced
Harlem Swag lol
What songs for Michael Jackson do you think Teddy lied about producing?
Great interview 👍🏿
Thank you 😊🙏🏾
This sounds legit.. Teddy's interviews has him playing the victim all the time. My thing is if we boys and I see the cliff you should make sure I don't fall off. You can't sit back and say I thought u saw the cliff.
Guy Should've had Timmy on this 2023 NE EDITION Tour with them. Probably their Last Major Tour they Shall ever have.
i could hear Al on that track from day one
He is from harlem on Morningside? I think I remember him seeing as a kid with two of the most beautiful I have every seen as a mom walking pass Dougie fresh house! I had to be like 11-12 I will never forget him if that was him! I think he grew up in KK building
Great interview
Thank you 😊🙏🏾
I had the pleasure of working with Both of these Brothers when they were working on MJ's project in the early 90's!
* It was Teddy and Bernard Bell
That You Can Call Me Crazy stay in heavy rotation…
🙋🏾♂️ Damn that was (and still is) good music back then.
Just subscribed, this interview is 🔥🔥🔥
Welcome to the community Jerry 🙏🏾
@@HalftimeChat thanks for having me.
As a recording engineer I would like to hear about the equipment the artist/producer used.
It makes all the difference in the world.
Teddy and I used Roland S-330’s for sampling. It was a very magical time.
Fred Hammons used an AKAI S-1000 along with my S-330
Mario Winans used his MPC 60 sampled from my S-330 the sound on those records were off the freakin meter.

I’d seen this interview when it first dropped,I was sooooo disappointed when Teddy told a different story on vlad smh 🤦🏾♂️
Cool brother Mr timmy gatling his brother is cool to ! I was on a uso tour with them
Fire content as usual
🙏🏾😇
Damn damn this is a hell of business
You knew it was messy . Everyone outside of like who this on the cover when the videos showed a different member . Harlem and some parts of NYC was like that is Tim but no real reasoning why members changed unless you really was in that circle.
Great channel 👏🏼 man
Thank you very much 🙏🏾
Dude looks like LL cool J in the thumb nail clip
Im 47yrs young, and grew up in the new jack era. And i NEVER EVEN HEARD of this guy until Teddy on Vlad interview.. didnt know he was even a part of guy...
He was the guy on the album cover not Damion Hall 🤭
Timmy Gatling started Guy and invited Teddy Riley to join plus he wrote all the songs while Teddy put music to the songs.

Right! 😂😂😂😂
According to Teddy (Uncensored) he only received $1500 for Keith Sweat's 1st album and he's never received royalties for any of his work w/ Keith Sweat.
Now that's correct, even Keith Sweat got robbed from that first album
has Timmy produced any songs recently ? Hope he comes back with an album or reforms Guy
Timmy Gatling now runs the urban label label and publishing company for universal music group for south east Asia.
@@HalftimeChat coool !!! :) thanks !! :)
You know thats its true!
No offense on Damion Hall but Tim Gatling was a better fit in the group Guy he can Write✍🏿Produce and Sing hit songs on top of that 🎤🎶💯
Damion Hall is a better singer than Timmy.
Yeah, but when your that gifted at producing, and writing, and a mind to not except anything less, it’s time to move on!
So can teddy
@@columbusohio72 we already know what Teddy could do I'm talking about Damoin Hall
@@columbusohio72 I'm not dissing Damion Hall he can dance his tell off...Tim Gatling wrote songs for other people
I hear Kyle West name alot
He was Al B Sure cousin and did the co-production with Al B Sure under the guidance of Teddy Riley
@@HalftimeChat OH didn't know he was AL cousin....he did Tevin Campbell song too right?
@@CEE662 yes that's right 👍🏽
AMAZING Teddy Allowed Gene Who Wasn't Shit but a Suge Knight No Talent just Exploits Talent to Come between He & Timmy. 🤔. Then 3yrs Later oN "Gotta Be a Leader" Teddy is Dissing Gene! 🤔
In regards to Gene's involvement on separating Aaron and Teddy from Timmy, i'd probably run with a mix of candy and strong arm, and knowing Gene's rep, a heavy bias on the strong arm....

Time for the Bio-Pic
😂
They look like brothers
They were best friends growing up
I got the first Guy album,I heard that album so many times it's not funny. It took years for me to buy the album because at the time I was a hip hop type dude mostly even though I had some r/b in my music collection. I didn't really start getting into r/b until later on down the line,so round my early to mid thirty's I started buying hip hop and r/b. Now I have a mixture of everything,r/b,hip hop, jazz, trap, funk, soul, gospel,a little rock music. The older I get the more I want to listen to other types of music.
Timmy if you would of stayed with my Big Cousin Teddy Riley you be a Millionaire right now. Holla!!!
🤭
Wrong Timmy! Finesse & Synquis were on Uptown Back then as well, they came out n 88, shortly after Al B
Timmy was referring to an act who wrote and produced their entire album without the need of the label. Guy, and Al B Sure on Uptown at the time. Heavy D had Teddy riley co-produced his first album
He was smart, guy still hasn't gotten paid for that first album!
Timmy Gatling is the only one who owns publishing rights from the Guy album because unlike Teddy Riley and Aaron Hall, he didn't sign away to Gene Griffin
Yes, he did. They had to pay him in order to put the album out.
What exactly did teddy n Tim do on the first al b sure album, I thought they did the whole thing.
@@HalftimeChat who beat up who ?????????????????????????????????
Where's the Al b /Kyle west interview ?

Oh wow
What does Damion do in the group he doesn’t write or sing any lead vocals. He does dance but he never does a routine dance with the backup dancers.
Teddy said on Vlad Timmy and Aaron was beefing
That's a new story he added that neither Timmy Gatling or Aaron or Damion have ever mentioned
Keith Sweat and Gene had words over not getting paid for Just Got Paid
And Keith went and got Bill Underwood (Slave & Johnny Gill's manager). Then, Gene signed over the royalties to Keith immediately.
The background music is very distracting.
Early teething problems when I first started. This was the last interview with background music
The Ice Cube of Guy
😂
Record industry seems Sooo SHADY!! Teddy Should've became a Millionaire oFF Kieth Sweats 1st Album. That had 2b at least a Double Platinum Album??!!🤔
🌱
How would you feel if something you started takes off without you and becomes one of the biggest groups around and you miss out?
You don't forget the story because it was one of the worst moments of his life.
th-cam.com/video/TuaGn5TfFAA/w-d-xo.html
Guy & New Edition used to be FAVORITE groups. After this interview. I can’t fuck with GUY anymore. Those dudes ( Teddy & Aaron) have NO HONOR.
It's sad because I'm the biggest Teddy Riley fan there is but I don't like the person as much as I love the music 😥
@@HalftimeChat You can definitely hear the difference in the first GUY album and the later ones. The first one had the best songs . But it's not too late. lol .
Never heard of this dude
That was the case with me. I always wondered who was on the cover of the album ☺️
Dudes lose their jobs everyday B! You’ll be alright 😅
Damn so Teddy kicked Timmy out of the group?
The manager Gene Griffin pushed Timmy Gatling out of Guy when he refused to sign up his publishing rights. Teddy and Aaron didn't fight for Timmy Gatling against their manager
So Teddy said he doesn't know what happened and Timmy Just walked into a studio session dapped him up and said I am out and left.

That is what upset me the most about Teddy's interview
I don't believe for one second that teddy only received $1,500 for doing Kieth sweats album. When he went from a volleswagon that summer to a 500 SL drop top Black Benz.🤣
😅
You got to remember that he was also producing KOOL Moe Dee at the time and Heavy D debut album
This is the other side of the story.
Many talents oft are duped by the CONtracts 🧐
