- This car runs great, but it does have 3 problems.
First, the water pump. Those are the first things that go out on this vehicle. It has not overheated on me yet, thank God for that!
And second is my RIGHT FRONT wheel bearing. IT makes a groaning noise whenever I make a left or u-turn.
And the transmission. These GM 4 and 5 speed auto transmissions are nothing but crap. It bangs into reverse when I shift into, or out of that gear.
Other than that the engine runs fine, but when the engine is fully warmed up, I do have a difficulty starting the engine. I checked out what went wrong and it is indeed my mass airflow sensor.
I absolutely love my 2008 impala SS at 98k miles on her. She treated very well, things ive done to the car is 4t80e swap an headlights. Oherwise, she still working with little to no problems.
Honestly, the Impala is a great choice! But NOT the ones with the 3.5 v6 and 4 Spd auto. Those are trash, but I still like my personal car. If I was getting an Impala, it would be a 2012 or up.
I have Same exact car And it’s been good to me 150 k strong 💪
I have a 2011, 72k and still perfect. Ready for something else and people are fighting to buy my car.
You are right it is the wheel bearing I have a 2012 and I have changed out the wheel hub twice. I guess it’s something with these cars the way that they sit is crooked and they just eat up the wheel bearings having dealt with this problem more than once, and I know how to change the hub by myself
but what about the 3.8 series ii and iii?
Series iii is best
Wheel bearing replace should be about 400 bucks not thousands
Next impala WILL be a 2012 or better then I'll be satisfied
Did you ever sell it?
It will be sold soon
Buy a ev and forget about the ice junk..once you do you will never look back.
1. Don’t take your car to the dealer. Either find another mechanic, but find a reputable one. Or figure out how to do it yourself
2. This can happen on any car, you just had bad luck

It's not the transmission, ice vehicles are pieces of crap..
