I researched various Mig welders for quite some time. I finally pulled the trigger and purchased the Eastwood 180 Mig with spool gun combo. No Regrets!!!

How well does that spool gun work for you?

So far so good, it's been reliable and performs better than the old 175 I had.

Good review. I've had my 180 for about a month and I'd does a outstanding job on thin guage or thick metal. Perfors ok on 110volts but on 220v it really shines. And with 100 percent duty cycle at 100 amps thats pretty damn good. Very happy with mine.

The gas line - get yourself a brass 90 deg and problem solved. The 90 can be oriented in the direction you want/need.
I can't really tell the fittings, but any fitting can be changed out to what you need.

or make a metal spacer to kick bottles out/away a little..or could use wood...another possibility you mentioned leads too short..will175 leads work???? just a couple thoughts that popped into my head...good review thx

Thanks for the review! I've had my eye on one for a while and was hoping for a memorial day sale but it doesn't look like they are going to discount it. I have the tig200 and for the price I can't complain. I don't do enough welding to invest in a miller level welder so this seems a good option.

Great review, thank you! Was curious if you thought the gas line could be relocated/modified without too much hassle? That is a huge oversight by the Designers, wow.

I've never taken the lid off this machine to look. In the previous 175 Mig the regulator which failed pretty often was mounted just inside the back panel. On that machine you wouldn't have been able to have moved it. At some point I'll have to pull the cover and take a look. I'm more inclined to build a better shielding gas bracket on the back of the welding cart to keep the bottle from touching the gas line.

Had the same issue with the gas connection on the back of the welder 135 amp Eastwood welder. Stupid design and the hose wore through. Ended up putting a board between the bottle and the Eastwood cart to prevent the hose from pinching.

Still working good, no other complaints than what was put in the video. Aluminum spool gun is still in the box, I use the TiG welder for that.

Eastwood doesn't carry the mig175 anymore because they had bad circuit boards my 175 blew out I have no power coming up to the torch but it let the gas come through, 8 months out of warranty they gave me for credit towards a MIG 180 with spool gun which I have now so far no problems but it's inverter welder and is half the weight of the 175

There is a sale on right now for $549 but that happened after I got mine but it was $599 with a spool gun plus tax and shipping, I had to pay shipping and tax so overall it cost me about a hundred out of pocket which I'm okay with considering that they honor the warranty way past due so I'm cool with it

It looks like you could add a spacer, to space out the bottle from the welder.

I got a Eastwood 135 Mig and it seems no matter where I set the settings when welding 16 gauge metal it just wants to burn holes through I turned the Volts down it seems fine when it starts to burn holes that turn the the gas up more seems like it's gonna work than i t doesn't , it's intermittently to much time spending on trying to adjust the welder than I actually get to weld this welder sucks! I've used other mig welders l didn't have any problems like this junk

Eastwood has about the same amount of back up for their welders as does Harbor Freight. If you are considering a welder, steer clear of Eastwood. My experience with the company and their MIG 175 is not good. Screw Eastwood.

    • @Gonecheenin
      @Gonecheenin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Normally I would agree with you (I have a Lincoln 180 DUAL for my main MIG welder) - but in this case I have not successfully found an American made 140-180amp inverter MIG/FLUX/MP welder with standard analog infinite controls and dual input voltages under $1000.
I search & search for American made products when I buy something - but SO much stuff is made in China now your options can be significantly limited. And I'm considering this welder for a camp/trail welder which I simply can't afford to buy a Miller for at $2000. (That's twice what I paid for my Lincoln even)
