Now you're in my neck of the woods. I live within walking distance of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Gilroy Gardens is a totally cool family park. First time I went to the park was opening month when it was known as Bonfante Gardens. I remember the circus trees in their original location. In the 1960's the place became "Lost World" in Scotts Valley. Along with the circus trees there were large dinosaur statues throughout the property. Long gone now. The food centric attractions are not exclusively based on foods from Gilroy, but the Monterey Bay area. The "Artichoke Dip" ride is tied to Castroville, the "Strawberry Sundae" ride is tied to Watsonville strawberries and the Mushroom Swings is tied to Santa Cruz County, all part of the greater Monterey Bay Area.
I used to live in Gilroy for a long time and I visited Gilroy (Bonfante) Gardens a lot in my childhood. It's crazy how much people know about the park now, thanks for giving it more recognition!
I'm glad that you finally got the chance to enjoy Gilroy Gardens, or to me before the name change, Bonfonte Gardens. I loved this theme park as a kid, it helped me get over my fear of roller coasters and provided a cheaper alternative to Disneyland but did captured the feel of an theme park but does not skimp out or feel cheap like other parks do nowadays. Definitely bring your future kids here as a starter theme park to get them started for thrill rides
You two are so cute in your garlic hats! 😄Funny I’ve lived in San Jose my whole life, never been in the Winchester mystery house. Only the grounds. Also never seen Gilroy gardens, great video!
It's like a non-Disney Disney park! The people mover, the land, the teacups, the Land pavilion, the kitchen kabaret, the monorail, big thunder mountain, Heichimi's chew chew train, the Dumbos, the flying "inside out" ride, autopia, King Arthur's carrousel and the Disneyland railroad.
That sure was different! Love garlic for it's taste and health benefits. Thanks for visiting there and sharing with us. Looks like a real fun place to visit for all ages. Loved the circus trees which were amazing - so glad they were rescued back in the day. Cheers!
In Rotterdam we have a restaurant called Look (l - ow - k). All the dishes from entrees to dessert are made with garlic (knoflook in Dutch), which I think is pretty awsome and tasty
Artichokes would be because you are only a couple dozen miles away from the Artichoke capital of the world. Needless to say, there is not a theme park but there is a good fruit/choke stand just off the freeway called Pezzini farms. Just take the 101 to the 156 which turns into the 1 just past Castroville. The stand is on the left if you're on the way to Monterey Bay... The California Central Coast and Central Valley probably has the best produce, hence the good smell from the strawberries :) Glad you guys are enjoying your visit!!
My mom use to take me here nearly every weekend when I was young. Such an adorable and charming little place. The rides are all so adorable and corny, but in a good way. Ah memories.
My family used to go to the gilroy garlic fastival every year, and when I was a little kid my dad told me the garlic ice cream was vanilla, so I took a big bite.... I never felt so betrayed in my life.
Love this park! Such a relaxing place. My fave thing to do was to get lunch at the place near the roller coaster and walk aaaaallll the way to the hidden garden under the entrance bridge. I'd eat at a picnic table near the waterfall while watching the goofy uncoordinated swan get out and back into the water. Heehee you'd expect swans to be graceful but, this swan was so clumsy. So cute!!
I love Gilroy Gardens! It’s one of my favorite theme parks! If you ever go back to Gilroy I recommend the chocolate Garlic ice cream! The garlic seems to be less strong in it. Also pickled garlic is the best! Makes me want to go back during the garlic festival 🤤
Gilroy Gardens looks awesome, the singing veggies reminds me of EPCOT Center's old Kitchen Kabaret show in the Land Pavilion (Where Soarin' Around the World is now). Also Justin, next time you're in Orlando, go downtown to Lake Eola and check out the famous fountain, swans and swan boats! As usual, great video!
I could smell this vlog before I clicked on it... Looks like you've found a super little park there... Singing vegetables, fruit & veg rides, 100 year old tree's... ☺
....so glad to see more exploring in Northern California ....for those of you who haven't seen the Train Town vlog from Sonoma ( 3 years ago ) it is a lot of fun .....while watching the part about the Circus trees I was reminded of how I found The Woo and then Justin...those trees were eventually part of Santas Villiage on Hwy 17 between San Jose and Santa Cruz...and Adam had a vlog about the abandoned Santas Villiage in Southern California...don't remember my first Randomland ...life has not been the same since ....W E I R D .....!!
Justin! I used to work at that theme park in the admissions and foods department! I cant believe you actually visited Gilroy gardens! Im actually really surprised you knew so much about the place from the change of names to the circus trees. For the mushrooms, though they grow mushrooms in gilroy they try and keep it garlic themed to market for the garlic festival they have every summer to bring people in. And if you go to the next town up named Morgan Hill, they market mushrooms more there and have a festival called the Mushroom Mardigras.
Wow! It's been years since I last went to Gilroy Gardens. Just looking at this video, a flood of nostalgia just came in, and I can remember some of the smells of the park. Perhaps I should go back there sometime.
OMG!!! I live so close to here. A lot of people I know work at gilroy gardens. It gets a lot more crowded in July, so great timing. I hope you enjoyed our little theme park!
I'm surprised you didn't point out (or notice?) At 12:47, that statue triceratops is Rocko from Knott's Berry Farm! So much history, and the theme park is managed by Cedar Fair, which ties it all together :)
I’m Taking my daughter to Gilroy Gardens tomorrow for her first birthday! I’m a Disneyland and 89 Batman fanatic so I’ve always enjoyed watching all your videos, but it makes me thrilled to see how much fun you guys had here! We live 2 hours away from this theme park, so we’re getting season passes! It reminds me of a little Disneyland in the middle of nowhere in nor cal!!!
I loved this video. It’s not everyday Randomland Adventures makes it to my local theme park but here you are. I am so glad you enjoyed Gilroy Gardens so much. Thanks you for adventuring into Central California. I will need to use my annual pass for GG soon.
Love that you go to other amusement parks and attractions because I would have never known about this place. Might have to check it out when I'm on the West Coast
At 2:53 or 2:54 there is a DeanMartinDoll in the FrankSinattra Collection!! Apparently the Owner of GarlicWorld loves both DeanMartin and FrankSinattra!!
its so cool to see someone so interested in bonfontei gardens. Ever since I was a kid, wed go here like 6 times a year. We even had a combo gold pass for gilroy gardens and great america. I have so many memories of this park and its so peaceful. Though its really unknown so Its cool to see others enjoy it!
LOVE this one! One of your best yet! Thanks for sharing your adventures. This place is on my bucket list now. :) Your humor and choices of places to visit rock!
This video makes me so happy! I live just 30 mins away from Gilroy Gardens and its such an amazingly cheesy theme park! I love that you found it as awesome as I do! 😆👏🏻
JustinScarred 259K subscribers (At 10:53 to 10:54 ) What the heck? Was that a classic Ray Harryhausen's the "Earth VS The Flying Saucers" (1965) movie poster I just saw? That is unexpectedly so COOL dude!
I didn't realize this was a video!!!! I used to go here when I was younger with my family and my grandmother! I went when it was still called Bonfante Garden! This video is too awesome!
I’ve been to Gilroy gardens on a vacation to my relatives but during a Chinese light fest thing and it was very beautiful with the lights and views of regular Gilroy gardens.
Lol...great video. Thanks for visiting Gilroy Gardens, it's one of the small theme parks my family and I frequent. It is not a thrilling rides park, but is is beautiful!
8:48 they have swan boats at Story Land in Glen, NH :) a bunch of little, self-pilot ones and a big "tour"-style one. They also have a singing fruits and vegetables show XD Anyway great video! This park looks wicked fun. I love that you appreciate the nature and setting and the small details instead of just the rides! And I love that little bonus clip at the end I had a book that talked about the Winchester Mystery house and I've always wanted to go. Too bad they don't allow filming :\
Gilroy is at about the same latitude as my hometown of Yerington, Nevada. I guess they must have similar conditions that are good for growing garlic, because Yerington grows a lot of it as well and also has a garlic festival every year. It's not nearly as big, though. Yerington also grows a lot of onions, it's actually known as the onion capitol of the west. They ship all over the place, I've even seen Peri and Sons onions here in Yuma, Arizona. I get some stares, but I'm always sure to grab a bag and take a deep whiff whenever I see them for sale. My family's house was near some onion fields, it's the smell of home.
I have been to Gilroy Gardens sooooo many times. It's super fun!! I'm glad that you enjoy it! You do need to go on some rides like the Banana Split and the Mushroom Swings though. But, I'm still glad that you enjoyed it! It's loads of fun and you should go back!
You find the most wonderfully obscure places. The owners of these places must love it when you show up because I know I’m not the only one who suddenly wants to go to places I never knew existed until you came along. I want to ride the artichokes while wearing a garlic hat. It’s the closest I’ll ever come to being an appetizer.
My husband worked at Belfonte nursery back in the 80s.. We'd go to park for BBQs when all it had back then was a train. Nice u guys went to visit. you two need to come back for the Garlic festival!
MAH HOME TOWN! You're gonna miss out on the Garlic Festival in July, unfortunately. Dude, if you're still out here I worked at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk 3 years ago. I'd love to show you some of the coolest spots and people I know. :)
1 mile from my home never been, except once for Christmas. It was beautiful with all the lights. I got the tickets to eat a buffet and Charlie Brown and his gang does a show. Need to go back to see it during the day. Never been to the Winchester House either.

Can't forget Santa's Village across the highway from Lost World.
Fun fact: that second water playground use to be a ~10ft tall rock maze.
Yes! It's actually 1 of the only strong memories I have of this place for some reason. Sad they got rid of it :(
No more rock maze?! :(
"I know what it's like to have garlic inside of me, now I know how it feels to be inside garlic" IM DYING
Btw that tree guy's my idol now
I used to live in Gilroy for a long time and I visited Gilroy (Bonfante) Gardens a lot in my childhood. It's crazy how much people know about the park now, thanks for giving it more recognition!
I love this guys energy, reminds me of the skippers on the Jaws ride at universal Orlando
By G force you meant “ Garlic Force” right? Because of the garlic?
That's exactly what I was thinking when he said that lol
The Enthusiasm Project good one!
I used to go to the Garlic Festival in Gilroy all the time, and they have garlic ice cream there. I'm not kidding.
😮😮😮😮OMG I live in Gilroy. I wish I was at Gilroy gardens when they went
eddie spagetie765 I went there before
Oh man this place was a huge part of my childhood. I had a season pass and I went with my dad and my friends during the summer. Such good memories 💖

Leave it to Justin to make Garlic exciting
You two are so cute in your garlic hats! 😄Funny I’ve lived in San Jose my whole life, never been in the Winchester mystery house. Only the grounds. Also never seen Gilroy gardens, great video!
I love it when Ally comes along on your journey. Some of her reactions are classic. I admire that she tried the Garlic Ice Cream, no way I’d try it.
I'm kind of in love with that theme park!
That sure was different! Love garlic for it's taste and health benefits. Thanks for visiting there and sharing with us. Looks like a real fun place to visit for all ages. Loved the circus trees which were amazing - so glad they were rescued back in the day. Cheers!

I used to go here all the time as a kid. Really nice park
I'm old enough to remember when it was called Bonfante Gardens. I think the announcement on the monorail still calls it that.
Love this park! Such a relaxing place. My fave thing to do was to get lunch at the place near the roller coaster and walk aaaaallll the way to the hidden garden under the entrance bridge. I absolutely love your Gilroy Gardens to go back Someday! One of the cutest little theme parks. Not too busy and the greenery and trees are beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed it! We love living in Gilroy.

That Gilroy gardens looks effin EPIC! Like i didn't expect a full on theme park! I love the animatronics
Never thought a theme park themed around garlic would be so fascinating.

Gilroy Gardens definitely takes people by surprise. Love your videos!
I love to go to Gilroy Gardens with my grandma when I go to her house! :)
At 2:53 or 2:54 there is a DeanMartinDoll in the FrankSinattra Collection!! Apparently the Owner of GarlicWorld loves both DeanMartin and FrankSinattra!!
Gilroy Gardens is beautiful! What a lovely little park. Great video.
Wow...fabulous! I haven't been to Gilroy in decades...this looks wonderful..👍👍Love the Garlic guy..💕

I think it's adorable how you use Ally as a metric of measurement LOL so cute.
Wow--I was expecting something tiny and kind of sad, but this park just kept going on and on and on with tons of awesome stuff!

You and Ali are in my home town and we were just there last week! Miss all of the garlic and the Garlic Festival is the last weekend in July.
He sounds like Patchy the Pirate XD
an Illions Carousel! you are so lucky! His studio made some of the most beautifully carved horses!
That place looks amazing! Definitely on my To-Do List now!
Omg I love the look of this place. Cheers Justin

This was my favorite childhood amusement park LOL nice! : )
Something very interesting and unique about mom and pop theme parks
I had no idea how cool that place is!
Go back to Gilroy Gardens during Christmas. Then you can explore the whole place at night with holiday lights everywhere. It is always lovely.
I can’t believe you were in my town! I wish i could’ve met you!! Hope you had a great visit!
I used to live in the Gilroy area, well Hollister, California but I moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. I miss Gilroy.
Vampire's worst Nightmare.
I can definitely dig this ! It's unusual, entertaining, looks delicious and seems educational too.
Gilroy Gardens might just be the one place that would make me visit CA. Lovin' little Gil.
This was my favorite episode evaaaa
Gilroy Gardens is really pretty fun, I’ve gone there a few times since I was a kid
You were in Gilroy?? OMG!! That's Awesome.
