holy shit....Foundry catches walls/lights AND the animation? That is absolutely FANTASTIC!
Liked the video beceause:
1. Your voice/mic is very nice to listen too
2. you come across very chill/calming
3. I feel like you do not act differently when filming a video/you are truly yourself on camera
We need more content creators like this
I have started using this combo for solo play, and the map generating pillars and other obstacles really enhance the game.
Solo play?
I would also like to know, how you solo play 👀
@@brotherfromanothermother4383 the basic expert made like 20 videos on the subject, go watch a few of them.
Check our Mythic Game Master Emulator 2nd Edition.
Yes, I too would like to know more about your setup for solo ...
Never heard of Dungeon Alchemist. It looks really cool. Thanks for the presentation.
WOW ! i already have Dungeon Alchemists and i didn't know i needed Foundry VTT aswell, thank you my friend ! amazing video !
I picked up Dungeon Alchemist recently and plan on using it with Foundry VTT as well. Great timing for the video in my feed!
Man the intro music gets me anticipating some 80s hobby video or something! Thanks for sharing this, good stuff.
Thanks for the video, this combo is awesome!
I do find it's "better" to do the Dungeon Alchmest part in bright(er) light then adjust lighting/darknes in Foundry for a clearer/more detailed map.
Also, there's been "green screen" stuff for a while now - which is really cool too.
I also use this combo. It is POWERFUL!
Man, I might have to look into this
Great Video for small scene animated battle map creation
Hey man, love your video. Thanks for sharing. I'm new to DA, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how you added the elevated rooms. What am I missing?
He did the pit to make them underground and normal rooms for the "elevated"
Great video
I’ve never done anything like this and I don’t play D&D but I play Warcraft 3 - WoW - Diablo 3. If I get this app I’ll only use the First Person View Perspective as a video background maybe for TH-cam ie being in a hell room or fireplace, is this possible or is there something better for first person view?
Does Foundry or any VTT allow you to use the "cinematic mode" feature that dungeon alchemist has? It seems like it's the best feature for dungeon alchemist but it would be a shame if it can't be utilized in an actual VTT game
Wow, never even heard of Foundry before. I'll have to look into it. What are the specs of your PC? Do players have to have a beefy PC to use Foundry or just the game host?
Foundry is dope! I run a foundry server on an entry level M1 MacBook, but only the GM needs to actually have the program or a license. Everyone else joins via browser. There’s also a great service called the Forge that I’ve used that hosts your server for you that makes the whole thing browser based, even for the GM. Pretty fast (if you don’t load a ridiculous amount of data into your world), super customizable, and supports loads of different systems. Does have a bit of a learning curve though.
@benjaminalexander7028 Personally I just keep the server upon a small older PC, one of those little $100 HP work computers, and access it with my browser on my main PC since I have some modules that I really like that need to be in browser. I don't see why you couldn't run it off a rasberrypi as well
if you shared the screen instead of just tthe app you could see everything
Yeah I realized that experimenting with OBS. Haha.
@@TheBasicExpert new streamer problems homie.. we all go through him... I went the major growing pains lmao
you can't use it on 3d?
The problem I have with VTTs is the artistry is always very sub par, I rather just look at the old blue print maps. when you use such crap art it kills the feel.
Dungeon alchemist maps look fantastic. And with vtts, you can still use old blue maps too.
@@TheBasicExpert that's cool, my major beef is with the usual suspects of fantasy grounds, foundry d20 etc. the 'chit map' flat look is just an eyesore. Bad enough I would rather just use chess pieces and green army men. there's another 3D vtt called Talespire that's 'ok' but again the art, while better, is really 'world of warcraft-y/5th edition-y' not particularly great.
Nothing wrong with theatre of the mind either. No need to spend so much money on tools you won't use in the first place.
@@MarkHyde I play theater of the mind too. I'm a miniatures and maps and tools VS theater of the mind centrist haha.
@@TheBasicExpert LOL - Whatever works for your playstyle and what the group is happiest doing really. As I said - cost is the only issue for me. When I went with a full Fantasy Grounds license I was more financial (2020) - nowadays not so much lol
I have to say. Dungeon Alchemist is REALLY LACKING. There are lot's of programs that are 50x faster at generating dungeons and customizable with New and downloadable tile sets. Considering you are exporting as a PNG anyways in top down format. Walls and lights are sooo easy to draw in Foundry VTT. Dungeon Alchemist.. for $50.00 is not useful in the state it currently is at. Unless they come out with a pack of 1000 random generation tile sets. this thing is gunna die off once people start looking more at it. I don't want it to fail but I definitely have buyers remorse on this one...
I export as a video now with animated maps.
Programs such as?
The thing is it's an indie team and it's getting updates. It's wasn't created and dropped. Have you looked at there road map? I feel like they are very in touch with the community about what's going on.
@@RealWorldMaverick I'm very familiar with how roadmaps work in the indie gaming scene... They are basically empty promises. I have been up and down enough rollercoasters to know the success rate of delivering on roadmaps for indie games is a VERY low percentage. Point is at $50.00 for an indie development game is overpriced for it's current state.
I have to agree with this comment as I myself have had so many issues with this product, for me the product just did not work as it was shown to work, and when I asked for help and assistance from staff they were rude towards me and kept claiming it was my computer, they asked for my computer information to be sent via email, I sent it and they never got back to me. It really was not my computer. They also said the same thing to a number of others blaming the computers instead of the product.
Good idea but this product doesn't work right for some people and staff refuse to assist, the product is very limited, and way to overpriced for what it currently is.
