Just to share a tip. I like to put in a hard sponge that I bought from the DIY store, at the bottom of my water cup to help scrape the paint off better.
I ordered 3 separate kolinsky sable hair brushes so far. ALL OF THEM came with very messed up points to the point that they are barely usable for miniture painting.
Hey man, I honestly don't buy expensive brushes because the last time I bought a few Citadel brushes they turned out to be absolutely terrible, I got burned so I only buy cheap to affordable ones now. One good thing about it is that I could buy many, like I have separate brushes that I use for different paints and different tasks. I have always had the mindset that if I buy expensive brushes, I'd have to be more careful and maintain them unlike for the cheap ones I can just throw them out in the trash.
Oh my! Citadel brushes ( and tools ) can be criminally OVERPRICED. But I do understand why you like the cheaper synthetic ones. I am sponsored bro, but will personally buy a set of good kolinsky every 3 years. 😅 And synthetic have their uses mainly for washes and Speedpaints. I must admit though, especially when painting small details with Speedpaints, I use kolinsky. ☺️
Hi! I’m one of your patrons and love your content! When your brushes have split or fray, is there a way to bring them back to hold their shape? What kind of wax did you recommend for helping to reshape brushes? And, so people say not to use certain types of paint with certain brushes-like don’t use speed paint with the kolinsky brushes. Is there any truth to that? Thank you!
Hi! Thank you for being a patron! More exclusive content to come. I actually TRY very hard not to use my Foxbite Kolinsky brushes with Speedpaints and washes. I recommend not to use them on runny paints. But alas, I just love using them on any paint. ☺️
i honestly prefer the synthetic brushes. i dont need a lot of water holding because i only put on the paint i want for a stroke and then reload. (i use thick paints), also fine point is not important because i always go for a 'licked finish' with no brush strokes visible, i dont find them less stiff than natural hairs, especially the nylon ones.
@ i put the flow improver in a small jar with water (the trick is for the jar to have a bump in the middle and fill it with water so the bump is dry and then add thinner until it covers, the thinner should float. then put the tip on the thinner) i also only take enough paint for a single stroke. i do a lot of unrthodox things with my paints
Why no beard? 😢 Good video! Could you maybe make a video recommending synthetic brushes and comparing them? Those are articles most hobbyists spend money on and might overpay for very mediocre or bad products.
Ah the beard ( goatee ), should grow back in a couple of weeks bro. I do not want to say which brands are BAD... and OVERPRICED bro. But through my years of painting models and miniatures, the best and most reasonably priced brushes ( both synthetic and natural hair kolinsky brushes are from Vallejo, Foxbite Hobbies and The Army Painter. The rest are just sooo OVERPRICED and not good. mediocre, bad even!
It's the lie we tell ourselves, better brushes make a better painter. Understanding yourself as a painter is the way to choose the right brushes. A safe bet is companies that make the paints also make the brushes best suited for them.
Minotaur hobbies make my favorite natural brushes. Excellent quality and a good price.
I am always looking for great brush recommendations. Thanks for the tip! ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Great tip man! I have a rubber mat underneath the cup. Also notice the dimples on the dish with soap? ☺️
Nice vid, always great info
Thank you Craig! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Thank you for this info!! valuable
You're welcome! ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Oh my! I am sorry for you man. What brands are these?

Nice straight forward vid on brushes. Would be good to make a vid on brush shapes. I could hear the cockerel going off in the background 😅.
Thanks! Brush shapes! Round, flat, arrow-head and such? Should be interesting. Will do sooner. Yes, the neighbor’s roosters are wild every 3 hours. 😅
You sent off your goatee hair to make your next product didn't you: Don Suratos Brushes! ;) haha
I tried man… I tried. 😅 Too stiff and wrinkled. 😂

Synthetic brushes for my workhorse brushes and Kolinsky Sable for highlights and fine details i use rosemary & co ser22 in 0,1,2
Good stuff man. I mainly use Foxbite Hobbies for detailing and highlights these days. ☺️
I really need to learn to take care of my brushes before I invest in kolinsky ones 😞
Yes bro. You have to make it a habit to clean your brushes. ☺️
@@DonSuratos I do 😞

Yes. Same with paints, it is mostly personal preference. ☺️
@@DonSuratos THICC PAINTS! also i use flow improver a lot
@ for better flow! Smart bro! You know your paints. ☺️

@ Unorthodox but seems effective.

@Miniature_Memoirs It is actually very easy to spot a BAD Painter, even with a good brush. Notice the amount of paint on the brush during painting. ☺️
I would 100% recommend Rosemary and Co for good synthetic brushes, they are really cheap and the quality is miles better than any big brand
@@ACoolDude. Do good sable brushes as well
Waaaagh! Too early bro! 😅
