    I can't believe they haven't teamed with Apex to make a true metal (steel) version of the M&P. With an Apex trigger it would be right there with Canik and Walther

      I happen to agree this is one of the better channels I’ve been to. It’s honest and direct and is not working for the industries. I have very special interest because I lost the use of my dominant arm 12 years ago. I had to go to using revolvers I currently use a chiappa rino 357 2 inch. He uses because the recoil is nothing with this particular revolver. It’s Moon. Let’s concealable I basically carry across carry bag. If I went to a M&P like this, it would need a lot of attention on the recoil and and would have to have a red dot mounted on it to help me rack the slide. I did contact Smith and Wesson. And they don’t have any intention of putting safeties on this gun in the near future. I’ve been trying to avoid going to a.DA/SA SYSTEM

    I am very elderly. With that came increased sensation (recoil sensitivity), loss of some strength and aging vision. Iron sights don't matter much, although at close range I was able to use the iron sights of this same model pistol, which I purchased over the metal frame for its' increased concealability. I put an apex trigger on the pistol and it gave no improvement in trigger pull or pull weight, so I took it off. After 400 rounds the plastic sight mount for my Holosun 507C broke. The only negative I have for this pistol. I have ordered a metal sight plate and a Timney trigger, and, after watching this video, I have ordered the 13 pound recoil spring. I had completely given up on 9mm because of the pain involved in shooting the round, but I am very happily and comfortably shooting 9mm again. Except for the cheap sight plates, this pistol is a 10 out of 10.

    Let’s be honest. How many folks here have bought any firearm and have not changed a single thing? If we were all carrying around the factory piece with no personalized changes, mods, upgrades, etc what would we have to talk about or post? There would be no need for the aftermarket. Trigger and iron site upgrades are all easily accomplished and personalize your firearm - both in this example better than a stock Glock. -which to the average consumer, is an upgrade. It’s legos folks. Great platform with some above average features and room to take it to another level if you choose to. Regardless, good video with some strong points!

I 100% agree with your conclusion that the guns are over-sprung, as I had to go down to a 14lb recoil spring to get the recoil impulse to my liking. I used the gun at a Steel Challenge match last week and found it to be a joy to shoot when tuned properly. its been perfectly reliable with the comp and spring tuning, and i've had over 3K rounds through it in that configuration.

    I was a police officer for a time. My first issued weapon was a Glock 22. I didnt like that gun. Full size Glocks cut the web of my hand so i prefer the 19/23 models. Not a problem with the 20/21 large frame guns. But our chief thought it would be cool to get the 22C ported models for some reason. He wasnt a gun guy and i wasnt impressed with the decision and neither was anyone else. But that 22C was a way nicer shooting gun. Still cut up the web of my hand of course. But follow up shots placed where you needed them were a lot faster. The fire from retention drills sucked due to the afterbirth coming up at you from the ports. But other than that i enjoyed shooting it. Which is good when it is in your best interest to get good with a particular weapon wether you like it or not. Then one day i just mentioned how i wish i could carry my Beretta M9A1 instead and my chief says "Why dont you? Just go tell Steve (city clerk) how much to send and where to send it to for your holster and mag pouches" So for a year i was getting slide cuts in my hand and a face full of muzzle blast for nothing thinking personal weapons were a no go. But yeah those ports do help even if you can handle the recoil without them. Plus plastic frame guns jump around more than aluminum or steel framed ones. Thats the trade off. The nicer it is to carry the less enjoyable to shoot. I did have a Glock 20 at one time. That gun recoiled a lot less than the the Glock 22 did even with real 10mm ammo in it.

      Love my G22. 12 years and not one malfunction. Shoot it as good as any of my 9s. Never letting it go regardless of where all the trends go. Not discrediting anything you said just adding my 2 cents.

      @jodylivengood4061 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @rich1958 The two I was issued never malfunctioned either. 15rds of .40 is also not something to be ignored. I'm not sure the big drive to dump .40 in favor of 9mm by police is a good idea either. The chances of having to shoot through auto body and glass for a cop is at least 50/50 or more. A civilian is more likely to come up against construction materials and the idea is to not shoot through it so 9mm makes a lot of sense. As for the Glock they're not my thing but I feel their advocates who are sold on the product do have a lot of merit in what they're saying. One criticism of the Glock I don't understand , and it's not important apparently, is that they're ugly. I think they're kind of, well they're not sexy, but they're definitely a badass looking pistol. Also my longest serving CCW pistol was a Gen 2 Glock 23. 12 years. My former brother in law needed a gun and he really liked it a lot so I sold it to him with a He's My Daughter's Uncle discount and got something more to my taste and liking . A Walther P99AS. Which I like better but it's not a better gun. Costs less to shoot though lol

    The M&Ps are some of the smoothest shooting guns on the market to begin with, WITHOUT a comp/port. I'd imagine these Carry Comps are even MORE smooth & flat shooting. I'm looking forward to being able to rent & shoot either the metal full-size or the polymer compact. As for the crappy factory plastic plates, I'd go with Calculated Kinetics Dogtag plates. Their plates are, BY FAR, the best designed plates on the market. The only other company I buy plates from besides CK is Eleven 71 Design. While they're pretty pricey, they have the ABSOLUTE TIGHTEST tolerances of ANY plate company out there. They're a 1 man, 1 machine outfit based in my homestate of TN. The guy makes his plates by hand out of titanium. I got 1 of his RMR plates for my PDP & think it's worth every penny.
    That being said, I'll be interested to compare it to my Shadow Systems MR920P, which I think shoots like a pellet gun. From your review, I'm thinking the MR920P DOES shoot better. But as a soon to be former PDP Pro owner, I can sympathize shooting a gun that's over-sprung.
    Where'd you get your spring & what brand is it, & what optic plate are you running?

    I think you mentioned once before to not rack the slide with the 507Comp due to its glass bulge?
    I understand that "return to zero" (where the gun sits after the action cycles) is king regarding speed of follow-up shots (moreso than muzzle rise or felt recoil) and ammo load choice, slide mass, and recoil spring weight will all play a part, among other factors as you know. For self defense ammo, I know your XC and Bul guns reign supreme in the 2011 platform but what striker gun setup that you've shot or owned has yielded the fastest follow-up shots?

      Awesome trigger and best ports. Hard to beat 😅 M&P with an apex trigger and dime bag ports from Monsoon might beat it out though 👀

      Just checked my invoice. .311” front and .402” rear are the only numbers I can see. So I’m sure that’s right 👍

    I’m having a different shooting experience with the metal. The sights could have been taller fa sure. I’m not the biggest fan of suppressor height sights. But there had to be a happy medium. The trigger is good but underwhelming for a PC. I prefer stock but I’m looking to apex this one. Giving it a little more break in time first. My compact M&P broke in very good.

    These new M&P Comps seem like they _should_ check all the right boxes.
    In fact, I had really high hopes for these new additions to a rather old lineup. Unfortunately, and as evident by your assessment; they tend to be lacking in certain aspects.
    Perhaps a comparison request/test if I may: the _Walther PPQ M2 Q5 Match SF Pro._ It seems like a worthy opponent to the other striker-fired, alloy frame pistols currently on the market. Maybe even the new Daniel Defense H9 _v2,_ when and if they ever release it. Could just be a "silent release" for all we know.
    Let us not forget that PSA also has their SWCH on the horizon. Which, if I am not mistaken, is a patent purchase from Live Free Armory's AMP pistol. Although, nobody will either confirm or deny it. Granted those three competitors are lacking a comp but the rest of the criteria matches.
    I, for one, am happy to see this small resurgence of striker-fire pistols with metal frames. Not just steel but _all_ the alloys. Many of us have grown accustom to and tired of the polymer pistols over the years. It is nice to see some new options.
    Nevertheless, I appreciate you staying true to your roots, Brett. If I had a channel, it would certainly reflect yours. After all - great minds think alike and we certainly like to speak our minds here in the great state number Forty Eight!
    Stay classy (and humble) my friend.

    I love this gun. Its great, but i still tell everyone to wait atleast a year after release to buy one..they always have issues with the first few batches. For some reason all manufacturers use their customers as beta testers.

      @@NightwoodGuns that's awesome that you got a good one! Look up other videos on this gun. Multiple TH-camrs have reported issues. It's the same with the Springfield echelon, Walther PDP and the Sig p365 fuse.

    I put my tungsten grey competitor receiver on mine. I will certainly take your input on the 13# spring and the apex trigger. I don't mind the soft reset of the stock trigger but always looking for upgrading my understanding of what's good.

    • @NightwoodGuns
      @NightwoodGuns  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      13# definitely made a difference for me when shooting very fast splits. And the Apex is incredible. Most people prefer the flat one. The curved one is mostly for short trigger reach. I like the OEM trigger return spring and the Apex duty sear spring combo.

      @NightwoodGuns what recoil spring did you use? I'm looking at Ed Browns 13# flat recoil spring.

      @@adamwaterman1229 Yep, Ed Brown guide rod and 13lb spring. I ordered the 15,13,11 to test. If I could do it over again I’d go 15,14,13. Everything under 13 was too light for the Carry Comp.
