You are right Caleb, Dimash was super busy in 2018. In early September 2018 he performed sinful passion in Sochi and then spent the whole September with Igor appearing on numerous tv shows in Russia. He fell ill near the end of September with high fever. In October he flew to the US and spent the whole month there filming ‘the world’s best’. In mid November he flew to London for his solo concert and he was again sick with a almost 40 degree celcius fever. After the concert he flew back to Russia to do a recording for a tv show. In December he flew to China to perform in their Miss World event in Sanya City and then flew to Hainan Island to perform this titanic song in their international film festival. Phew! I feel tired just by typing this.
Wow, I have no idea how he could sing so flawlessly in the midst of all that!
Caleb Coles Music his schedule has been inhumanely hectic ever since his first appearance on the singer competition in January 2017. And he was supposed to hold 12 3-hour solo concerts in a time frame of like 8 weeks in Feb to April 2020 if not because of covid outbreak. I’m glad that he postponed some of them to next year for the health/safety of his fans. He finally has time to take a break.
By the way I find that the fancam of this titanic song is even better than the China tv official video. The post-editing kinda took away some of the fullness and roundness of his voice. I prefer his voice in the fancam

Caleb Coles Music anyway, this was performed in Hainan film festival in Dec 2018, Dimash sang at the opening of the festival and a veteran China superstar sang at the closing. Here’s is the closing performance for those who are interested. Both sang live!

I feel sorry for the "extras" including dancers, orchestra, band members, etc. because I tune them out as if they don't exist. I have tunnel vision when it comes to Dimash and even the beautiful stage settings go unnoticed.
True! And that is something that is so good for Dimash, his vocals are so good we can easily tune out any average arrangements behind him.
Celine after Dimash is resting on the sidelines. Listen to her singing. The show must go on. And how Dimash sang. This is heaven and earth, of course. SKY IS DIMASH.

Yes, you're so true. Dimash said himself he was not fully satisfied with the arrangement but he had a little time to co operate with the composer.

The slide at 8:26 kills me every time. He's already belting so high and possibly at his limit then he slides even higher! Not to mention it has such an incredible rock-like sound.

This is a song I got so tired of, I couldn't get that excited to hear Dimash do it. BUT.... Dimash is so good, I was still able to enjoy it. Thought your comments were really spot on.

I never EVER liked this song before Dimash’s rendition. I’m still not too crazy about it, but he really got me connected, which I think is truly remarkable. His tone and all the subtle nuances he uses just captivate me. That first lower part was actually my fav! It gave another emotional layer to the song. And I agree about the arrangement, I also know that Dimash was part of it, but he commented they got notified last minute and so had not enough time to be properly prepared.
Have you ever heard of a Brazilian singer around the same age called GABRIEL HENRIQUE. Funnily enough he was in a contest in Brazil and some of the videos can still be seen. Gabriel can do some crazy high notes and even has a video just showing them. He did a very good version of this song and has his own channel where you can see him do some Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston songs. Check him out but Dimash still to me is the very best singer in the world.
lynette devries Dimash captivates me in a way no other artist can. Thankfully that doesn’t mean I do not appreciate other music. There are countless talented soloists and bands that have something unique to offer. So thanks for the tip, I will check Gabriel out, although to be honest the “Whitney & Mariah repertoire” sounds rather discouraging, based on my taste in music.

Hi Caleb, Ray Charles came to Italy a few years ago to participate in our most prestigious event, the San Remo Festival, strictly live. Ray arrived in Italy and locked himself in the hotel. His performance included 2 songs. A duet with the Italian singer and another song, I don't remember if this was a duet too. The Italian singer and the whole organization were desperate because in the 3 days before the performance, live nationally and in Europe, he did not show up for rehearsals. He arrived the same evening, greeted, shook hands and sat down at the piano. It was an incredible success, without rehearsal, without an apparent study and without knowing the singer. Dimash has the same artistic sensibility. He can arrive on a completely unknown stage and be at ease. I hope google translates well, a big hug from Italy

But she is bilingual, like Dimash also bilingual - he speaks Russian as a 2nd language perfectly fluently as if it would his mother tongue. ( And he started to learn it in school ) But he never learned English in school. He just started to learn it recently beside his University studies and all his other activities ...I can't even imagine when he has time for it...

@@CalebColesMusic, I have commented to you before as a follow Aussie. I love to sing but never did it professionly and I likes your versions of Dimash's songs very much. The reason I am commenting today I know of a Brazilian singer around his age who can sing pretty high too and does have a version of this song and I was hoping you would look at it. His name is Gabriel Henrique and though he does not have Dimash's wide range still is extremely talented. Like the singer he has own channel and was in a contest in Brazil which TH-cam has some videos of. Gabriel does Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston songs and a good version of never enough. Keep up the good work and Dimash will always be my favorite singer.

You are correct! Dimash said he had to work with the arrangement and the composer in hurry for the show. Hopefully he could perform it again but with more time to work on the arrangement.

awesome breakdown regarding the arrangement choices. i agree dimash wasn't fully into his own yet in terms of arranging for his own voice. perhaps they were simply trying to maximally highlight dimash's range for the most fireworks. the staging is definitely schmaltzy, but that being said, celine too had a ship bow in her tours following 'titanic'. these earlier performances of dimash always remind me of raw, electric, immense talent such that he wants to include every potential firework possible, contrasted with the more recent performances where he's confident in his ability and connects more emotionally with the lyrics. all that being said, the 'you're here' moment is still phenomenal in dimash's voice, as is 'on' in the 'go on'. love that rich, resonant operatic tone there he even throws in a few celine hand flourishes and michael jackson spins, hah. as you're going back through some dimash, check out the cannes live performance of 'sos'. i think it fully captures dimah's ability to bring in an audience completely and masterfully. love your cover of 'madamoiselle hyde,' as well. and ps, love the curls!

Dimash could have arranged this himself and maybe a better arrangement would have made him happy. To his credit, he took it to a whole different level although he did seem uncomfortable. I like the song but have never been a fan of Celine Dion so I was skeptical about enjoying this song. Dimash made me like it even more than I thought. Thanks for the vid Caleb.
Dimash seriously did so well to make this performance so good, given the awkward arrangement, he sung so well that you can almost just forget about it.

I have read that Dimash was asked by the original producer to perform this and worked with him directly on the arrangement, you know Dimash wouldn’t just want to do the original 😉 Also, I believe this was at a film festival and they were celebrating 20 years of the film Titanic, hence the cheesy staging...
Can’t wait for some new Dimash, he is currently working on an album of Kazakh songs which should be out soon! Also an English song Love’s Not Over Yet which is being produced by Walter Afanasieff who also produced My Heart Will Go On. Hope this is all correct, someone will put it right if it’s not. 🤗🇬🇧

Man, great reaction! I must agree with you on the stage set up. Dimash is that kinda guy you put on the stage and the way he sings pretty much will allow your mind to imagine and float away. I can close my eyes and listen to him sing the song and I can just see Titanic. The little boat was a bit cheesy - lol. I think it is very much a Chinese thing though to set up that way - I remember when I was an English teacher in China, whatever I used for materials to teach they would give me a ton more things to use for teaching. Not a bad thing, guess they like having that edge of creativity - fun times.
Haha yeah. I like the effort and creativity they tried to put in, just probably not needed for Dimash I felt/
I would like to hear him sing this with his lower register so developed as it is now and definitely with a different arrangement. He could do so much more with it and make it truly spectacular. It was beautiful, of course, as he sang it then.
