    A strong powerful return performance to The Singer 2018. Being not in competition anymore, he showed a new Dimash. He was free to show his repressed talent during the comparison. Bravo Dimash. Those high notes are to die for. This was just the beginning of his explosive talents. Thank you Caleb.

    thos run of the Middle East, this technique is a part of Traditional Middle Eastern music. such as Iran, turkey and the Arabic countries , in traditional Iranian music called tahrir and caused the breakdown and degeneration of sound in the throat, the singer of this broken voice repeats itself and rings it in different rhythms to make it a beautiful sound. This technique is extremely hard and requires a lot of training. That's why I'm very impressed when it's done by Dimash. This guy is really trying to make this sound It's not just talent, it's the result of many years of hard work, great reaction celab💟

      @@CalebColesMusic Thank you for your attention, as far as I know, there are twenty four different types of this technique in traditional Iranian music, which are in many subcategories, the kind that Dimas used in this song called up rising, he started repeating "o" with a low note, and then, with a repeat of the word "hello", with top note, excuse me, my English is not good, and explaining this is very difficult

    • @CalebColesMusic
      @CalebColesMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Your English is very good I can understand everything. That is very interesting to hear about the different techniques. We don't have any set techniques for runs like that in the west (although there are some common patterns and scales used, there is no convention around them).

They almost have a middle eastern sound. His parents day that since he was a swimmer all his life this helped him with his breath control and ability to hold out those notes. Thanks again. I really enjoyed your reaction! You're going to see that he just keeps getting better after Singer 2017 and challenges himself to keep changing things up for his Dears.

    And “I love you” in chinese for the fans! Love him

  • @marisagettas
    @marisagettas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it’s a work of genius because a it’s him saying hello to the fans and the stage (which is the I Am Singer stage where he competed in 2017 he has come back in 2018 as a guest performer on the finale) that made him a star. He truly cherishes his Chinese fans because they embraced him from the first performance and never let go. So, he’s literally saying hello to them. But, I truly believe that the subtext of this song is the ‘east saying hello to the west, and the west saying hello to the east’ and Dimash is an interpreter in the middle showing us how exquisitely beautiful things could be if we all came together as one in our world. My last point…this is the fastest I’ve ever seen him break character after any of his performances, and I believe that to be because these two messages so fundamentally explain who Dimash is as a human being. He believes these things to his core of his being, and lives it in his every day life. So, it was really easy for him to leave that character, because it wasn’t really a character, so much as it was just…him. I love your videos, Caleb. Thank You! A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿

    Dimash reinvents another classic! This is one of my Dimash favorites as well. Lionel R's version was on every radio station back in the day and we all became so saturated by that it became a virtual parody of itself. And then came Dimash. The arrangement for this song was by Dimash's friend Erlan Bekchurin -- who apparently knows how to hit all the right notes (pardon the pun). He also did arrangements for Dimash in the Singer 2017: “The Show Must Go On," “Adagio," "Daididau,” “All by Myself,” “Sunrise” (in Chinese; known to most of us as "Daybreak"), “Confessa + The Diva Dance,” “Umytylmas Kun (Unforgettable Day),” and “A Tribute to MJ.”
    That huge run Dimash does sends chills down my spine every time I listen to this, and I have the same near-teary eyes that I saw in you. This is a splendid tour-de-force by Dimash.
    And don't you love how he brings his audience into the song by using the Mandarin for "I love you" those couple of times? The kid really knows how to play to his fans! He even tosses in a bit of Kazakh at the end to remind people of his roots.
    Simply. Wow.

    Those kinds of Arabic runs are so usual in Eastern (Asian) countries. You can hear such runs a lot in most of their songs and Dimash did it perfectly and powerfully. Very impressive. At first, I was thinking that no one is going to sing this song even close to Lionel Richie let alone better, but in my opinion this is not the Lionel's Hello cover! This is Dimash version of Hello! Completely different. Glad you liked it. :)

    I thought you might be interested in some fun facts about this performance that I learned from other commenters, but I didn't see in the existing comments here. The flute is called a sybyzgy, a Kazakh (and Mongol) sideblown flute. Dimash sings I love you in three languages. First in English, then Mandarin (wo ai ni) in the middle and again at the end, then in Kazakh (men seni suyemin). At the very end, what he whispered was "thank you very much" in Mandarin.

    Kazakhs are half Turks, half Mongols. So, what Dimash does in the second part of the song is a return to his Turkish roots, as a small part of Sinful Passion is a reference to his Mongolian roots.
    Thanks for your grat job !

      Not half-half but the ancestors of the Kazakhs are mainly Turkic peoples but also a partially turkized Mongolian or Siberian tribes.

      @@teardrop-in-a-fishbowl Yes I know. The brewing was obviously not done in a mathematical but human way. I was just simplifying and I also quoted Dimash in one of his interviews where, also simplifying, he said the same thing.

      As a Kazakh, I want to mention that we have more Turk roots. We used to be one united country with present Turkey once. Then, we split for some reasons. So we mention Turk, we don't mention present Turkey population

    I have been llooking forward to this reaction for some time, and I was not disappointed: I knew that you would like Dimash's "Hello" ! :) It is my favourite Dimash performance also. Thank you for the many great insights, particularly on the tone Dimash uses. I think you will get a lot out of listening to "Sinful Passion" next: it showcases the non-Western origin of the runs Dimash uses, and more besides :)

    Caleb, I'm so glad U finally got around to reacting to one of my all time favorite "Lionel Richie" songs. That epic Middle Eastern inspired "Melismatic" break in the song made the song unique in only the way DIMASH could in making it his own while at the same time preserving the integrity of Lionel's original message. I would be curious to know if Lionel has heard this version. Anyway, one can hope!
    *PLEASE do your ears a favor and REACT to (2) Igor Krutoy written songs that DIMASH brings to life as only he can: "Love Is Like A Dream" where you can hear DIMASHE'S lower register and talent for delivering heartfelt ballads & showcasing possibly one of his "Longest Sustained Notes" EVER in a Single Breath! I think this is his most beautiful performance to date! Here is the link to that performance: th-cam.com/video/xLEQzfqO_l0/w-d-xo.html
    Also, I think you'd get a kick out of listening to "Mademoiselle Hyde" based on the the story of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde from the perspective of Hyde. See here: th-cam.com/video/tXR1GCsLTSw/w-d-xo.html
    (Both "Love Is Like A Dream" & "Mademoiselle Hyde" were written by Pianist, Writer & Composer Igor krutoy.) Dimash has collaborated with Mr. Krutoy in various showcases which has proven to be a match made in heaven. Absolute MAGIC! Take a listen & Enjoy!

    Thank you, Caleb! Dimash's best friend Erlan does most of the arrangements you have heard so far. I love this arrangement. You will soon be getting into performances from the partnership of Russian composer, Igor Krutoy and Dimash. You will see what I consider to be the most epic performances from that duo. You have lots of more surprises to come!

    This is also one of my favorites. I remember the first time I heard the song. I was driving, and at that time it was the beginning of my journey with Dimash. I got so excited that I had to drive aside and stop. I was blown away. I've learned to never drive while I'm listening to Dimash. Thank you for a good explanation of what creates the different variations of his voice.
