Kalani was glowing throughout the video, you can tell that she loves Kelly for being so passionate about surfing.
Kalani seems to be a beautiful lady, and I wish she, and Kelly the very best in their future.
I am from Florida originally and used to surf at Sebastian inlet. When I was 16 years old, me and my friends would make the 3-hour trek over from Sarasota for the weekend (better waves on the Atlantic). We would often see Kelly surfing and knew even then he was going to be big (he was 12). I would sit on the beach and watch him surf mesmerized by his talent. Glad to see he is with such a nice girl, Kalani seems really awesome. Being a Florida boy myself and growing up surfing I feel really connected to him though I have never met him. He is an inspiration. I am not as quick on my board these days either and with 3 kids have little time to surf but love the videos from the "Lost Tapes" episodes he released.
Kelly & Kalani are a wonderful match for each other. Kalani has been there for Kelly since they became a couple years ago. Kelly has devoted his life to surfing but, it’s time that Kelly devoted his soul to Kalani.

I married a die hard enthusiast if surfing.. he's been surfing for 30+ years, he's pretty good at it not good as Kelly I guess but still pretty advanced. Surf and catching that perfect wave been biggest of our life. My husband gets so depressed if he can't surf. I used to wait for him 3-6hours until I decided to learn the sports as well. So when the wave is medium ( he doesn't surf small and glassy wave) I surf with him.. my partner somehow able to tame down his obsession with surfing when he became a dad..

You know I may be missing it but surfing can be a very self consuming sport if your not careful. It can become very selfish. I believe you can miss out on alot in life when you are addicted to surfing. It's an addiction that is praised rather than fround upon in our society. Especially when your pro and it's your identity. It seems like everything has to take a back seat to Kelly's passion. You would think after surfing at Kelly's level. Having the privilege to surf the quality and quantity of waves he has been fortunate to surf. He would be ready to let it go and look into other aspects of life like marriage, children, family etc. You can just tell Kelly's girlfriend is hoping he will come around and is patiently waiting. She deserves it, I hope he can see that. Not judging, love Kelly, just a thought. I can't help but want to see him bow out of professional surfing graciously and be all about his girlfriend, children, family, and helping others.

@@surfsavage2860 It is an addiction, simply as that, constantly trying to chase the hit even when you have achieved more than enough. It is actually not much different to business people or investors who always need the next big thing regardless of how many millions, or even in some cases billions that they already have, and that their needs are met far and beyond most people's but they can never appreciate that, or the people or world around them because their focus is always elsewhere or in the future. Life is a tricky balancing act and we should all take time to remove ourselves from everything occasionally and reflect, not keep running to the easiest options or things that feel good or comfortable.

First of all, Marriage doesn't automatically = love / happiness, in fact often-times the opposite.

Actually leaving relationships which don’t fit you is notoriously difficult. Especially if the other person isn’t a bad person. If they’re nice but they’re just not the fit you need it’s so so hard to leave. She’s loyal, but that doesn’t mean she’s happy.

The real point I was making was that no-one in the TH-cam comments section KNOWS what is happening inside Kalani's head and yet many jump to the conclusion that she is unhappy but she is just too weak to end the relationship.

I don't have a clue, but I choose to give her the respect of assuming she is an adult, capable of making her own choices and living with those choices.

My best advice to Kelly Slater is, watch the movie Storm Surfers 2013. Same as Endless Summer 2 we have 2 surfer friends who travel the world, exploring. The difference is, they are middle aged, at age 45 and 50 respectively. One is a family man. Therefore you get insight into the family life. You can draw 2 conclusions. "That life restricts my surfing life." Or "this is very interesting, i think the family life appeals to me, it is appealing, and maybe it's time for myself to go down that road." Use other people as your guide. Better yet, talk to other people! For example my brother is married with 2 kids. I think one day i will follow my brother's direction. I can still surf. But family life will be a new phase of life, that we enter.
Once you marry you’ll surf less and less and then the kids and the loans and the water will recede further and further in your mind until it is over. Unless you marry a surf chickadee then maybe maybe maybe if debt doesn’t creep in you will keep some surfing going. She’ll stop after the second baby, the body doesn’t feel as good anymore and she’s out of shape. Someone needs to do the house work. The fun is over.

There’s enough kids in the world. Just enjoy your nephews and nieces and get an awesome dog and teach him to surf.
@@Alpha-Andromeda i gave that comment a Like. Despite that i think it's a bit out of touch with reality. I quit surfing 8 years ago due to injuries and heavy debt (which you eluded to, as being only caused by marriage). Reality (my reality) is that surfing ends, regardless what you do.

The dynamics of the relationship will become toxic if you get married. Women only have one focus in life, to entrap men, and they do that with the help of the government, through the marriage contract. I'll give you an example of what I mean. Most of the guys in my high school who had wealthy parents would have new sporty cars to attract girls. However, I distinctly remember this one guy who was not from a wealthy family. He rode a little tiny scooter to school; but man that guy was handsome. He could have been a model, and that guy had the best looking girls all over him. Those girls didn't give a rat's ass that he rode a scooter. Also, girls wouldn't care whether he had money to pay to go on a date; they would pay for him. That's what I mean by good looks. Kelly is not like that at all.
One last thing...It's hard to be objective when a person is already rich and successful. When people are rich and successful, it's easy to find something, anything, that makes them attractive to us. The truth is we think he's such a great guy simply because he's rich and famous. If Kelly were homeless, would you be saying that he has nice eyes? I doubt it.
