This is a good example of how pervasive and 'mainstream' (if Lewis can be so described) the myth of Lilith has become. Lewis's friend Charles Williams put her into his modern-day fantasy novel "Descent into Hell" as 'Lily Samille', who offers a form of loveless temptation. And of course, George McDonald had written the fantasy novel 'Lilith' much earlier.

You can't harmonize the two accounts. Genesis was written by at least two different people, and what we have today was a cut and paste job putting the two accounts together. That's why the story of Noah also is a little confusing.

@@ElyushiAndyra2006 If you will notice, the entire first chapter of Genesis, into the first verse of chapter 2 refers to God as ELOHIM, simply translated in most Bibles as "God". Then the narrative starts with another creation story, and this one uses the Hebrew name of God YHWH, translated in most Bibles as "the LORD". It's believed that these are two different accounts patched together. And you will see something like this throughout the book of Genesis and even into the stories of Moses.
With the story of Noah, God tells Noah to get two of every animal. But then the narrative changes and "the LORD" is talking about getting seven of every clean animal. So which is it? There are two different accounts patched together from two different writers writing at two different times. If you pay attention to the swapping of "God" and "the LORD", you'll see little differences in the information given.

Ancient middle easterners were very misogynist, just like modern middle easterners and these sort of sentiments are very much still relevant to this very day. It's no coincidence that feminism came from western white people only, as they are the only people who could have fathomed such a thing in the first place.

During the babylonian period demons goddesses could take on a variety of forms, e.g. Tiamat was the sea, a kind of sea dragon, and a diva. They were hollywood before hollywood.
There were a variety of lillitu, both male and female. The way we should think about these is the idea is much older and spread out in Akkad and Sumer. Each city state then further develops those ideas, the exchange story motifs.
The Exilic Yehudites were traveling between these cities learning these different stories. Ezekiel tells us for instance is lying on the bank of a canal near larsa, hes have dreams about women weeping to Tammuz, the dumuzi cult was popular in bad tibera, a few kms disn the Tigris river, Dumuzis home town. We can seecthat the local culture is affecting his Magick and imagination. Now we have to think about hundreds of the Yehud, returning back to Jerusalem from different cities in Mesopotamia.
They then a sharing differing version of the myths, editing and transfotming the myths until it belings to them.
