In 1979 Perkins, the future Pulitzer-winning photojournalist, was a Washington intern and the vibrant D.C. punk-music scene was about to erupt. Perkins captured the images, and his iconic photos are complemented with stories on the bands and their shows by punk musician Alec MacKaye.
