    *Note:* In the first calculation, the "Base Damage 2" value is incorrectly shown. It should be 224 - 366 base damage. The average damage and all calculations are still correct. Was just a simple typo.
    *Bonus Damage:* Since a lot of people dont understand Bonus Damage. Here you go: so "bonus damage" gives you on each hit you are doing your "bonus damage" as additional damage. So for example if you have 15 "bonus damage" and you using your guillotine blade and it hits for 10k then you just add 15 bonus damage. so you would deal 10k + 15 damage. but if you are using a skill that hits 5 times or 10 times then on each hit you are doing the bonus damage comes on top. This is not counting for DOTs. And for the most part only XBow players are utilizing that. Of course there are some skills from certain weapons that can utilize bonus damage but for the most part its only useful for XBow players. A lot of people think that behind "bonus damage" is a factor or whatsoever but its not. 15 bonus damage are just 15 additional damage on each hit you are doing.
    *Secondary/Primary Base Damage:* Maybe one thing that was not super clear explained from my side. If you use a spell from the bow then it uses the base damage from the bow and when you use a skill from the staff then it uses the base damage from the staff. For the calculation it does *NOT* matter which weapon is in that moment your primary weapon.

      This comment has been 10times more useful than most of the garbage vids I've seen about damage this month, I'm a GS/LB user and had a real har time deciding to go bonus DMG or crit DMG.
      please explain more about common stats like crit and how much it boost DMG or how endurance works in PvE, or evasion, hit, etc soft caps for PvE/pvp

      so if i use staff skills with dagger main hand it still takes the base dmg of the staff, not the dagger right? but that doesnt count for the rest of the stats like attack speed etc right or that aswell? like casting time for staff etc

      From my own testing based on willbreaker diffs, and values taken from maxroll video, it looks like the formula is dmgTaken = 100% * defense / (defense + 2750)

    Please note that attack speed also plays a part. If one weapon has higher base damage but lower attack speed (0.5 seconds stat means 120 hits per minute), it could be lower than lower base attack * higher speed (0.4 seconds stat is 150 hits per minute)

      Then also cooldowns play a part in long-term dps. Attack speed is no good if you throw all your skills and then auto-attack for N seconds.
      But then for some weapons you need to be able to combo, like use guillotine while enemy is prone. Take too long to charge and you loose big dps.
      It's a complicated game :D

      Well, I have both karnix and toublek fully traited and here’s my 5 cents:
      Karnix better damage. Even tho toublek faster and more cd, just the extra base dmg and heavy chance from karnix will out dps the toublek easily. Maybe in very long fights toublek can shine, to take advantage of its skill but that’s very situational.
      But biggest factor for switching to Karnix was because its much easier to build around.

      Skills scale off base dmg and are your main source of dmg
      Atkspeed legit only matters for pvp burst dmg because for everything else youre capped by cooldowns

    Well... actually i learned a lot. As wand user i was ignoring pretty much base damage and stats, since i just focused on heals and buff durations in my gvg, but now that i see this, my heal gets boosted by base dmg, and my curses too, so basically the 30 str and 20 percepcion i'm missing from purple accesories and helmet are kinda HUGE i guess. Time to farm lucent to buy traits for accesories so i get those juicy 40-50 stat points. I didn't use the 4 purple accesories like yours because they don't have full traits yet, but i think i will use them anyways with lvl 2-3 traits instead of full lvl 4 each, if stats are so important, i'm missing a lot of damage and healing power, but it didn't felt right to swap tier 3 blue traits for tier 1-2 purple traits yet

    Hey, one problem with the calculation I've noticed here is - I think that the "+ value" is actually added to base damage before the percentage multiplication.
    Tested example: Staff's fireball max level is "510% damage +516". On dummies, I hit 11k with it. Default meteor is "1110% damage +123". It hits about 3k.
    The fireball is vastly superior in damage because it is adding 516 to my base damage, and then doing the multiplication, while meteor is inferrior because it has much less base damage addition. I don't know if this is a bug, or specific to staff skills, or global and intended - but it is producing consistent results currently - so skills with a high "+damage" hit harder generally.

      I just tested it with fireall again and may calculation is 100% correct. how to test:
      1. go to Kastelon to the single dummy near the weapn crafter (the dummy has no armor... so you can easy test things)
      2. fire ball 510%+516 is damage you do if you not charge the skill. so you just tab the skill. otherwise it deals 120% more damage means: calculation: (510%+516)*2,2 -> (5,1*Base Damage+516)*2,2
      3. hit the dummy with the ability till you crit. write down the value.
      4. since your are crit you take the max damage for the calculation: (5,1*MAX Damage+516)*2,2
      5. now you need to consider skill damage boost on top. for this you need first to calculate your percentage skill damage boost: [SDB in %] = SDB/(SDB+1000)
      6. final formula: (5,1*MAX Damage+516)*2,2 * (1+[SDB in %])
      dont use any crit multipliers. for example bow passive or harvester set and so on. have fun testing. if you have further questions let me know :)

      It seems bugged half the time. The other half the time my 30 to 40 sec cds are being used every 5 to 10 seconds 😂

      @@dracwahlssit’s 1% for each CRITICAL HIT. And for the 50% to apply your skill needs to hit a marked enemy.
      Which part isn’t working for you? The 50% or the 1% reduction per critical hit.

    Little off on the bow. You have to remember Karn bow is more of a strength setup. Toublek is more dex. Karn base: 142-380. Toublex 131-373. So more of a 1-2% difference. For the bow users out there.

    It's important to realise that it's not just about the flat numbers. If one weapon has 10% attack speed and the other 20% but does less damage then you have to actually do some calculation for a specific time span, not just "this weapon does 400 damage and this 350".

      That's not entirely accurate. Attack speed for dps in this game is not as important cause it just makes you cast spells faster, but those are still limited by cool downs. So this means that a faster weapon may make you dish out your rotation faster, but unless this makes you save several seconds it won't really provide extra dps in the bigger picture.
      THAT SAID, attack speed is very important on pvp, as its a key component for assassin characters to kill their target fast enough before they can react accordingly.

    Glad somebody broke this down as this was my exact suspension, I'm a Karnix enjoyer mainly cuz I play Bow/dagger so my CRIT chance/damage will be higher which is why I chose Karnix

      I am a full crit build as well. But something he pointed out, is that wisdom and dexterity give more max damage than strength and perception. Atm, I have 70 dexterity, 60 str. I am going to switch to 50 str and add those 10 to wis to raise my max base.
      But, for overall dps as a crit based build, would it be better to go no str and push for 60 wis? The logic being to raise my base max damage to its highest since I'm critting almost %70? I think the main question is, does the higher max damage from 60 wisdom, with lower heavy attack chance outperform 50 str and 150 chance to heavy attack?
      My initial thought is just committing to crit chance and raising the base base max damage.

      @@nelmarmarasigan2276 Nah, I'm currently 50STR, 40DEX, 30PER with like 17 WIS. So overreliance on a single stat or 2 stats will cause a lot of diminishing returns. 50STR is a must for me, mainly because it provides survivability as well as Heavy Attack Chance, which atm is a really rare stat and also a hard to counter in PvP too.
      If you're going PvE, I'd change it to 50-40-40-?

      @@nelmarmarasigan2276all situational really and depends on build(I am bow/staff)but essentially, for pve(mobs) I go all Dex and wisdom to get through content faster(mine is 70dex 38wis 30per with 46% cooldown from gear and can solo all open world dungeon boss rooms(just utilize your block a lot and don’t overwhelm yourself)
      For pvp, you want to go 50str 50perception (60 perception if possible) My pvp set up is 50/46/14/50
      For single target boss fights I find this set up most efficient:
      50str
      60dex
      20wis
      30per
      To summarize: all dex and wis for easy casual content. 50str 50perc
      30+ dex for pvp. 50str 60dex for boss.

    I loved the breakdown, can you make a short breakdown for bonus damage in crossbow setups?
    You said it's important to know what you are losing with the toublek and karnix base damage comparison. I love the stormbringer xbows for the range but I feel pressured to use the rex xbow.

    Bonus damage doesnt increase base dmg its a flat dmg add to your attack. So its usefull for xbow and bow straving for the people who didnt understand

    Bonus damage from phantom wolf set (2 pieces) and Bracers of the primal king, is added after the calculation "base dmg x 500% etc" or before? Is it even worth getting any bonus damage if you arent a crossbow class?

      aridus is base damage increase which is insanly strong. but you can only trigger that in PVE. staff is bad in PVP. 15 bonus damage from dex is more or less only relevant for xbow players

    question. do i get mastery stats from the off hand wep? example, im using staff dagger, wehn im wielding staff i know it uses mastery stats from that wep, but im not sure for the offhand dagger? or does it use only small nodes or large nodes in mastery?

      Your Mastery is active dependent on which weapon you are using. Your auto attack weapon mastery will be active when you are not using skills of your secondary.
      As far as I know, your secondary weapons Mastery is active while using a skill for that weapon, regardless of which weapon is on main hand. I could be wrong but this is my understanding.

      If you separate the efects in defensive/ofensive/utility stats....
      not 100% sure exactly where to draw the line (couln't find a relliable source)
      but, as a rule of thumb defensive efects are only active when you have said weapon equiped (that's why most dagger users use dagger as primary, for the evasion pasive, another example, if you use a weapon that gives bonus hp, it only applies if you have it equiped first) and ofensive effects only when use that weapon skills (base damage increase, crit damage, hit chance, etc)
      The ones i'm not sure are utility efects like attack speed, cooldown reduction, buff duration, i couln't find solid info about this... i tend to belive this are based on equiped weapon but i have not tested it (special doubt about attack speed, the others i tend to belive are based on equiped weapon)

    Can you also compare karnix bow and grand aelon? Switched to grand aelon recently added attack speed feels like i kill faster but not sure maybe karnix better bcus of base damage. Attack speed helping my flashwave and decisive sniping mostly and its a huge plus

      @grobs4678 I'm playing staff/wand dps for a pure mage build. I know bow/staff is higher dps, but i want to stay with my character concept for now.
      Im more focused on staff offense + DoT. Not a huge fan of curse explosion since it removes all the burning stacks.

      if you want to achieve the highest max damage then you go for dex and wisdom. these stats increase more max damage per points than str and perception.
      we have 50 stat points to spend, but after we spend 20 on a single stat it will take 2 stat point to increase 1 stat.
      because of that reason it is best to not spend more than 20 stat point on a single stat.
      In ideal scenario, the best we could do to gain max damage but also to gain max benefits (ex: dex not only increase max damage but also crit, atk spd and evasion. Other stat have different benefits) is to spend 20 dex, 20 wisdom, and 10 for other (STR ot PER depending on your build and weapons your using. It can also be splitted between the 2).
      There is an exception. If you have 39 dex its fine for you to use 2 stat points in order to achieve 40 dex since you could get the milestone bonus stat (you got it from reaching 30,40,50,60,70 in any stat)
      however ideally you should avoid above conditions in the first place by managing(choosing the correct one) your gear to achieve the stat milestone without putting more than 20 stat point in a single stat.
      Prioritize dex then wisdom then other stat for your gear to achieve highest damage output.

    I don't use blood devotion, means my party do even more damage, means they do 17% or more contribution, means they get higher chances of drops. Leaving me down as a tank that i already dont do any damage...

      If you are doing World boss switch to Single Target Damage Build (basically a version of PvP build). You only need Provoke and maybe one or 2 specialization to keep aggro.
      Learn how to adapt your build to the content. I have got 2 WB drops from using Single Target Build as SNS/GS.
      basic rotation: Da vinci > provoke > stunning blow > death blow (charged with spec) > will breaker > ascending slash > Guillotine blade (charged with spec)
      When rotation is on cooldown use: Counter barrier > Shield Strike > Precision dash > Cruel Smite (valiant brawl) > Shield strike . Can add Gaia Crash with attack speed increase specialization if you want as well.

      Its the first upgrade in the skill specialization. if you play with the skill you usually always upgrade it that it goes to the whole party :)

    My Greatsword/Dagger main has mostly epic gear with few traits, 60 dex, and 0 heavy attack chance thanks to lack of traits, but constantly pulls aggro off tanks and melts 50K hp enemies in a matter of seconds, but no fully-traited blue alt that I have can do the same. Base dmg + base stats will also have priority just like every other mmo

    Can you help me understand why lequirus daggers are better than kowazan daggers? To me it just seems like kowazan daggers would be better even though lequirus daggers passive is good

      not an dagger expert... kowazan comes with more base damage which is good but who is actually dealing damage with daggers? especially in large scale? does the base damage you are getting from the lequirus daggers also count for your secondary weapon? so your staff/bow/xbow then it would make a lot of sense because for those weapon combinations your main damage is not coming from the daggers. if you could buff your damage with the daggers for your main weapon... thats really nice... additionally it gives more stats which also already gives your more base damage for your main weapon. as mentioned not an expert on daggers but hat would be my quick thoughts :)

      @@grobs4678 personally i dont really care too much for pvp and im dagger/gs with more emphasis on daggers, but you're right, the base damage buff on lequirus counts on both weapons so i'll probably just stick with them

      Maybe was not super clear explained from my side. If you use a spell from the bow then it uses the base damage from the bow and when you use a skill from the staff then it uses the base damage from the staff. For the calculation it does NOT matter which weapon is in that moment your primary weapon.

      Not entirely true. Your secondary weapon will not grant you its small weapon mastery skills - only the large nodes. So in the case of GS, you do lose a few minor bonuses from that.

      Depends on class and skill used as well. For instance, on SNS Counter Barrier will not activate if SNS is not on your main hand. Meaning you should be on SNS main if using that skill.

    The damage for a screw I don’t believe that that’s correct because there’s actual numbers listed for in various places but the way you’re saying it it specifically you’re talking a skill credit skill damage credit if trying to use your max space damage what about damage is there additional damage or why do they list damage in certain location?

      sure. so "bonus damage" gives you on each hit you are doing your "bonus damage" as additional damage. So for example if you have 15 "bonus damage" and you using your guillotine blade and it hits for 10k then you just add 15 bonus damage. so you would deal 10k + 15 damage. but if you are using a skill that hits 5 times or 10 times then on each hit you are doing the bonus damage comes on top. This is not counting for DOTs. And for the most part only XBow players are utilizing that. Of course there are some skills from certain weapons that can utilize bonus damage but for the most part its only useful for XBow players. A lot of people think that behind "bonus damage" is a factor or whatsoever but its not. 15 bonus damage are just giving 15 additional damage on each hit you are doing.

    cd would be better over karnix in all ways tbh more casting = faster and more deeps than the karnix so enjoy thats the difference :D and karnix is just more safe and higher deeps slow deeps too compared to the karnix you gain maybe 2-3 more hits in with the toublek than karnix

      yeah... adentus is even better then epic tier 2 greatswords. atleast when it comes to damage... you lose the nice effect on the new T2 GS but its still insanly strong

    Now that this video has come out evasion builds will be a bit more viable, the end game gears gives more stats for base damage but that would mean you have to sacrifice hit chance gears.

      That is not true. Evasion builds have been viable the entire time and will continue to be viable (at least into t2 where it seems a shift "may" be made to endu) , If you build properly you aren't going to have hit issues. Many classes take 0 pieces of gear with hit on them in end game builds, mastery , passives, perception , food shore up weak points.
      If you feel evasion isn't viable now, You dont have good enough gear , enough traits or are spreading yourself WAY too thin trying to cover all 3.

      evasion build is viable even know. A lot of youtuber said otherwise which is odd.
      they do not pay attention to how ez to get crits compared to hit.Also to get endurance its actually the same or even harder than evasion.
      This is because people for good reason love to stack dex ( increase high max damage, crit, atk spd, evasion).
      When you check the available gears now, you could see a lot of crits and less hits.
      Anyone that alr put some time for research would agree that reaching 2k crit is much easier than hit. same goes for evasion and endurance.

    My Highest Damage I ever seen was to a DUKE MAGNA Raid boss. I'm a 3180 Combat Power GS/SNS "Tank" I hit the Raid for 25 000 + Heavy attack so its 50 000 Damage ? (with lvl 4 guillotine not maxed out, also No blood devotion. I never ever used it in my build. After this video I should start using it lol )

    um extra base damage is distributed evenly to min and max values.
    100-200 attack plus 50 is 25 to min, plus 25 to max = 50
    so 100-200 attack plus 50 base damage goes to 125-225

    So for a pure healing build Bow/Staff the best choice is to grab the most stats you can so your base dmg is higher then higher your heals?
    Karnix would be the right choice? ignoring the range passive. etc.

      I would also always go karnix as a heal yes. in PVE just because of the base damage. But in PVP especially because the additional range from toublek is not really beneficial because you Wand has anyways a 14m range. and additionally you are getting strength which is way better as a heal in PVP because you want to reach the 70 strength threshold.

    Base damage boost from skills and mastery only adds on MAX damage not Base damage (lowest roll possible) tested it now. Unless it's a bug, your damage increase % calculation is not accurate.

      @@Nick11156 you are right for masteries. for masteries I didnt tested it. They seem to give only max damage. which is of course still really good but for sure not as good as I thought. but for skills I tested it for different stuff and it always gives you min and max damage. you can easy check this with strategic rush. just use it against a dummy and you see your min and max damage going up. but thanks for letting me know for the masteries :)

      my build is still up to date. of course there are different builds out there and some of them might be also good BUT please be careful on who you trust. There is so much TRASH content out on youtube. 95% of the guides for PVE are trash IF you like to min/max stuff. But if you have different build that looks fun for you. Go ahead and try it and even if might be worse in DPS then mine maybe its more fun for you. Because in the end thats just what its all about :) *I will always all of my builds

      I knew that you where talking about that :D BUT burst is bad in PVE ^^ everyone plays with the chargeable skills but thats just burst and burst you only need in PVP but in PVE you only care about DPS. you only have big damage number but lower DPS (If you play with a lot of attackspeed). but if you want to have big damage numbers then go ahead and take the chargeable skills. just try out for urself :) if its works better for you then you have your answer ^^

      no. skill damage boost does not work like hit. hit and crit work depending on the enemy's endurance and evasion. but skill damage boost works as mentioned in the video. its just a multiplier independent of the enemy's stats.

      I am not an expert on that field BUT as a bow/staff I would go for Karnix just because you CANT utilize the additional range anyways because you staff is capped at 17.6m range. going for a bow with 19.2m range is completely useless I feel :S as bow/dagger it can be really good because you dont need to align the weapon ranges. But yeah that would be my take on it.

      I need it purely to tag mobs from the distance during farming, then I'd swap to my actual set

      @@grobs4678 even with bow/dagger you have to walk forward to reach shadow strike's maximum range in order to use ankle strike/thunderclouds without losing your rapid fire passive on your bow. toublek just isn't it really, in any scenario. the cd reduction is nice but it's barely anything in the overall scheme of things.

    Bow is broken now now we understand the car expo is broken. In fact any weapon that has a high base damage or higher base damage is more broken. If that’s a word more broker broker broker than the other two boat broker, the car is broker than the two small because both of them are higher base damage than most other votes so they are both broker, but one is broker than the other.
