    When I got married I was gifted with that very cross stitch (the bride looking in the mirror) .... It hangs over our bed, and I still look at it in awe and cant' believe someone spent that much time stitching it for me.

    Fabulous pictures. I like a lot of them but as you know time is the problem. It's great you have kept a complete history. I over the years don't have much to show as I give them away and thought well I can always make another but working the same piece twice life is too short.

      +Daisy Rea Thank you so much Daisy. My daughter was watching me edit the video and I told her that someday when I'm gone she'll be able to look back on these videos and remember everything I stitched. I normally don't like to work a stitch twice, but if it's been a long time, and the design really calls to me then I will. :) x

      Hi Karla......No, you're never too old!! I'm 70 and have dabbled in a bit of cross stitch and embroidery. But I'm into it full time now and I LOVE it! I suppose the reason I love it so much is because I can do it 24 hours a day without worrying about a job or kids! LOLOL These Flosstube ladies are amazing, aren't they?? I absolutely LOVE them and their work is so beautiful, I'd never do a "Heaven and Earth Design", though. Hope you are well and still enjoying cross stitch.

    I watched your Part 2 video first. You have stitched SO many gorgeous designs. I love every one of them. I really love the CCN Cottages and how you finished them. I didn't buy those this year but after seeing yours, it's oh so tempting and I just LOVE all the bibs you have stitched over the years. So much so that I now plan to stitch a few for my little grandchildren. :) Oh and just love the Macaws! Oh my! That one looks like a photo. Amazing! :)

      +Dot Smith Thank you so much Dot, for your beautiful compliments. I hope you do stitch some bibs and let your grandchildren use them... they are too nice to be put away in a drawer. The Cottages have been a lot of fun, but to be honest I will be glad when they are all finished, so I can start something new.
      Happy stitching :) x

    Wow! What lovely work you have done. I started crosstitching in the eighties and I see many familiar patterns. My two Paula Vaughans ( not the same as yours but all of hers are so pretty) have hung in our bedroom for years, and I still have one in my rotation. I look forward to Part II. Your videos are wonderful, I have been enjoying them all day on this overcast southwestern ( US) day whilst stitching and doing little tasks.

    You really need to frame them and then off set them by about 4 to 6 inches vertically, and keep them about 4 to 6 inches apart horizontally on your wall. I learned this trick from watching different interior designers on TV, when you have two different size pictures that you want to hang side by side and it’s enough of a difference to make it look odd the trick is to keep the same distance apart but go vertically offset slowly till you hit the sweet spot where they compliment each other, then make them permanently hung. This process will take 3 people, 1 to hold each picture at the same time and you will be the one to guide them on the slow motion move (1 picture moves up slowly and 1 picture moves down slowly) both being moved all at the same time SLOWLY and at the same rate of speed so they match!!! These 2 other people are going to have to be people in your life that understand you and your perfectionist skills and are very willing to help you get through this process of hanging your gorgeous works of art, whether they are your best friends, friends, neighbors, kids, kids friends, your husband and his friend, husband’s friends, college students are always willing to work for money girls (?) and guys, especially if they have an interior design type departments or something related to it!!! But never talk to college students weakly, tell them that you will pay them this amount of money each for this amount of time and if it goes over this is what you will pay them for over time. But only if they can do the work without whining or complaining be holding the artwork very still, if they can’t then they need to leave now, because you only have a short time to get this job done. Believe me the guys will show up with their chests all puffed out like they carry the world on their shoulders and the girls they can do all and know all!!!! I’ve watched them walk up my driveway like this and through my front door and I have asked them are you ready to help me tackle this project and I am telling them all about it and I turn around and there’s no one behind me. . . College kids are just so fickled and I just start laughing 🤣🤣🤣and call for more kids. Eventually you get some great kids and they will tell you if you need help again please call the college and ask for them by name. And they will have a piece of paper with their name and phone number and address on it and they will give it to you if they want to work for you again! Have a wonderful day!!!!❤😁

      +Carolyn Mazzeo Hi Carolyn! I have added Cominos House, Macaws, and Seashell Treasures. I'm toying with the idea of adding Blue Dragon and Tutankhamen but they look so difficult. I have to sit with the idea of doing them for a bit. I have the pattern for Celtic Autumn already but if I didn't I would have added it too. I adore the Celtic series. Thanks for sharing all your finishes, I have really enjoyed seeing them. :) x

    • @TheFlosstubeStitcher
      @TheFlosstubeStitcher  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tiffany Feliksa They are all great designs to stitch, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with any of them. Blue Dragon is actually very easy (no backstitching or fractional stitches, just full crosses), but the size is the issue. There is a mini version now, that might interest you more. I've seen a lot of people stitching it and it appears to stitch up quite fast. Tutankhamen was a little challenging, I will admit.... purely because of the kreinik. If I had to re-do him, I would seriously think of changing out the kreinik to PTB (petite treasure braid), as I find that so much more enjoyable to use. I look forward to stitching my next Celtic lady... not sure which one it will be yet though. Happy stitching :) x

    • @tiffanyfeliksa1628
      @tiffanyfeliksa1628 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carolyn Mazzeo Thank you, I'll look into the mini version of Blue Dragon. I have yet to start a HAED but I'm inspired to. It's a great design, really beautiful. Petite treasure braid is nice to use. I'm working on Deco Spirits and it calls for #8 kreinik, and it is so thick it's almost like cord. I was worried it would damage the fabric but it has seemed ok. #8 must be one of the thicker versions of kreinik. Anyways, thanks for listening. Happy stitching :) x

    Just love your work! You said you washed and pressed your work. I haven't washed mine as I'm afraid of bleeding colors. How do you wash yours? Thank you

    Hi! I’m not sure if you will still get this comment because I know this video is older, but I am enjoying your videos! Question: when you say 2 over 2, or 3 over 2, or 2 over 4, what are you referring to?
    Thanks

    Hello! Love your projects!! That's amazing!
    Hope you can help me with a question, how can I calculate the price of a project? Is it for time, material or according to the stitches? I would really love if you could give me some advice. I don't want to over charge but I want to get paid whats fair for my work. Thank you very much!

      +Sue OP Hello and thankyou! I have never sold a project, so this is unfamiliar territory for me. I have read, however, that stitcher's will generally charge 1c per stitch + cost of fabric. People that don't stitch may not appreciate the time and effort that goes into the work, and may therefore find the cost too high. You could also maybe post the question on one of the various Facebook groups to see what others have done? Sorry I can't be of more help than that.
      Take care and happy stitching :) x

    Hello I'm a beginner I was wondering how to start my cross stitch , my design is footsteps in the sand I don't know where to begin, they say begin from the center, but I still have no clue, please help me

    • @TheFlosstubeStitcher
      @TheFlosstubeStitcher  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jEy Em Hi! Yes the best place to begin is in the centre. You need to find the centre of your material and the centre of your pattern and match them up.
      To find the centre of your material: Fold the material in half, from top to bottom, then again from side to side. Place a pin in the very corner that marks the middle. I like to then give my material a little iron to get those fold lines out before stitching.
      To find the centre of your pattern: Look for a small black arrow that is located at the top (and sometimes the bottom) of the chart, and then find the same black arrow located on the side. Using a ruler, find where these too points meet in the middle. This is the middle of your chart.
      Once you have found the centre of each, you can begin your first stitch.
      I just did a search and found this very helpful video that I'm sure will explain everything you need to know to get started here: th-cam.com/video/7PEQtNcAXX8/w-d-xo.html
      Best of luck, and if you have any further questions, please let me know :) x

    + Carolyn Mazzeo hey i was wandering how you complete your projects so quickly?
    can you maybe give me some techniques

    • @TheFlosstubeStitcher

      +Maddy Needham Hi again, another one in the spam folder! I have recently started doing weekly rotations for my projects and I find this helps me get them finished quicker. I make sure that I have a variety of stitching styles as well as different sizes within my projects so that I have some quicker finishes and maybe some longer ones. Other than that, I just allocate my evenings to stitching and I avoid distractions.... I usually stitch for around 3-5 hours each night.
      Hope that helps :) x

    Is the Cominos House pattern available anywhere?

    • @TheFlosstubeStitcher
      @TheFlosstubeStitcher  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MizzRowe If you're located in the USA, Hoffmann Distributing Company sell Ross Original designs, although Cominos House is not currently showing on their page. hoffmandis.com/index.cfm You could email and request a copy possibly?
      The Stitch Company (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg) has the same deal: www.stitchcompany.com/en/en/search.php?mode=search&q=cominos&page=1
      The UK link from Ross Originals doesn't appear to be working.
      Otherwise, you could try eBay or one of the stash unload FB groups.
      Another option, is you could ask Nina (Stitching With A Smile) where she obtained her copy (she is located in Canada, I think)
      Hope some of that info helps you :) x

      +Maddy Needham Hi Maddy, I'm not sure why but this comment was in my spam box (along with 19 others)... really must make a note to check that folder more often!
      10 other crafts?... wow, you're a super crafter! My internet speed is super slow at the moment, so I can't even check if you've started making the videos... but I hope you have. If so, let me know and of course, I'll support you.
      Sorry for the late reply.... happy stitching :) x
