  • Sugar, sweet sugar.
This Lantic Sugar plant in Montreal produces 50 per cent of the 1.2 million tonnes of refined sugar produced each year in Canada. 690,000 tonnes of raw sugar is shipped from Brazil, refined in Montreal and sold across Canada. Over 85 per cent of the sugar goes to the food processing industry.
It's almost impossible to visualize the dune-like piles of sugar found in the Lantic warehouse. Join chef Ricardo Larrivée as he explores the sugar canons of Montreal and see for yourself.
