  • Connecting the Andonstar AD407 microscope to my surface grinder and using the DRO to measure parts. It is accurate to less than .0005" and can measure many different features. Inspired by Pierre of Pierre's Garage • Microscope on a millin...

The resolution and focussing is way better than the one I use, and mine has no cross-hair. I need to upgrade. So useful when making parts to fit to something with unknown hole spacings and things like mounting hole locations on printed circuit boards and checking the tips of #70 drills. The remote is an excellent feature that mins lacks. Time to go shopping!

Thank you for the impressive video. It would be interesting to see these measurements using just the Andonstar’s software.

Does the AD407 have measuring software?

Optical is an often overlooked measuring method but very effective.

Use my 407 for smd electronics and mech. inspection. Love it, worth while investment. Thanks for the look.

I mounted my unit on a tall surface gage, can adjust higher and can set up on the various machines....3d printed Saunders angle fixture for holding round tooling for inspection....nice video, enjoyed

Great video. Big fan of Andonstar and Hayear microscopes. AD409 would get you software
support, over thr AD407. Hayear HY-1070 due for update. Also, good use of NEBO "Slim"
flashlights, with magnetic base 50-500 Lumens adjustable, and USB rechargeable. Thanks!

Your DRO controller should have a method to calibrate the scales to the controller. It would appear that the scale may need calibration. The placement of the lines location on your screen is a little bit subjective also. I like the scope unit, nice!

I am sure it does but it is set already for the grinder. The scale is spot on for the grinder so i don't want to mess with it. Off camera being careful I was able to repeat within a few tenths on the gauge blocks. I think it has more to do with me than the scales.

I thought modern digital microscopes would make optical comparators obsolete. (at least by price) You should be able to run the video output through a computer with all kinds of grid programs...making it virtually a comparator.

Who knows, there may be something on the market already with all that. This was under $300 and it does most what I would want to do with it. It would be nice to have a computer do all the calculations.

I need to get one of them microscopes to watch TH-cam videos.... Not really, my eyes aren't that bad yet.

My eye are not good for close up. This microscope helps in that area well.
