The Drive to LA! Universal's HHN in Vegas? Fallout New Vegas Saloon, Desperado & Buffalo Bills

- Join us as we make our way from Las Vegas, Nevada to Los Angeles, California in the home stretch of our cross-country road trip! From Halloween Horror Nights in Vegas, to real life Fallout locations in Goodsprings and Primm, to abandoned roller coasters and the last casino before leaving Nevada, and of course our favorite fun place to eat on this stretch of road, the nostalgic Peggy Sue's 50s Diner! Of course views of the gorgeous roads out west as we make our way to the final state of this cross-country road trip in April 2024!
We pay a visit to the Universal Horror Unleashed construction at Area 15 and see how fast it's coming along, visit the famous Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, NV, that inspired Prospector Saloon and the General Store in the popular game Fallout New Vegas (and there is a new tv show based on the Fallout series). We also explore the casino on the border between Nevada and California, Buffalo Bill's in Primm, NV, that holds a long abandoned roller coaster called Desperado, that was once one of the tallest and fastest coasters in the world! It weaves in and out of the huge and now nearly empty casino, and we got to explore all the cool wild west theming, the Bonnie and Clyde exhibit, the abandoned coaster and log flume, that still has all the theming and weird animatronics! It was quite a sight to finally go inside and explore. We also visit our favorite place to eat between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Peggy Sue's 50s Diner! It was way more crowded than last year, but just as fun and delicious!

Fun and more fun.....this trip has been amazing....loved being brought along virtually!!!
I love Primm Nevada. Especially my home park Disneyland. We call Primm "state line" and when everything was open and all the rides working...it was great. I still like going because the slots are loose. I always win big.
The last time I was there the log flume had just stopped and the coaster was not running. There were very few people in there. We just happened upon it driving from Vegas to California. Maybe someday I can go out West again. Thanks yall. I enjoyed it! Also I discovered later on that one of the series I oved Ray Donovan had an episode filmed there! Yeah a movie location I have been to!
Another great video of your Cross Country road trip Jackie and Sam
Hello Jackie & Sam you guys are awesome; finally made it to California!! Lots of love to you both from Florida and enjoy your stay!!🍄🍄
Buffalo Bills was, back in the early 2000’s just a Really cool place! The coaster was much better than the one at New York NewYork! And the flume was really fun too, and doubled as a shooter ride in the later years
Wish they would re-open the log flume and roller coaster!
Great video! I’m loving coming along on this trip! I’ve only flown when I’ve gone to the west coast. ❤️
-----
First of all, gratitude for being able to accompany you on your road trips. Thank you...
We also often make road trep in the USA; gasoline at 5.39, seems expensive for your usual but here, in the province of Quebec in Canada would be the equivalent of $7.34.
Without wanting to, we are actually doing the same road trip a few months apart, we were just thinking of doing Canada Orlando then, Orlando, California...
I can’t believe all of these different roadside attractions you’re getting able to see. I’m not huge on casinos, but I would definitely stop there in order to ride that log ride and check out some of the other rides inside. I always drive by attractions and always say to myself, I want to stop and go in real quick. But I never do……. One of these days I will, I think I’m always in a hurry to get from one place to the other. So glad you made it to California. It was a long and fun adventure. Can’t wait to see your next video. I just got caught up.
Thank you so much for taking us with you on this trip.
I use to live in Barstow California so i grew up going to Vegas and Peggy Sue's stayed at Buffalo Bills a few times. I also rode Desperado many times and the log flum. If you ever can stop at Barstow the McDonald's is a train and it has the original Del Taco. The tanks across from Peggy Sue's that the Marine Base and they have trains my Dad worked there he drove the trains. The also have The Harvey House in Barstow its a train Station.
I have ridden that Frog Hopper ride when I was younger but at another location..
Love your tshirts tiedie tshirts
Great vlog!!!! Wow!!! Jack The Clown and other Icons in Las Vegas? That will be awesome. Thanks for sharing with us the journey Jackie and Sam. 💛
Loved when you were going through Buffalo Bills and Desperado. It is a sad space of architecture. Forgot Universal was doing the Halloween Horror Nights there. Will be interesting to see what it will look out. Disney needs to jump on bringing something to Las Vegas as well.
I absolutely loved Desperado when I got to ride it. The first drop took my breath away as a child. It made the Big One at The Pleasure Beach seem like a kiddie coaster to me. Such a shame it's no longer running. The log flume was quirky and fun too ! 😁
The Pioneer Saloon has cool stained glass windows they're like old west style graphics
My husband and I heard that the Tropicana Casino (oldest on the Strip) has closed it doors permanently.
You’re about me favorite TH-camr 😄😉 love how you give your explanations: nice & easy to understand, very simple & fluent! 👍🏻😎 also it’s always nice to see you & Sam together. What’s his channel, would love to check it out 😃
Largest thermometer in the world?-poor Paul Bunyan!
You’re next to Barstow which is home to NTC at Fort Irwin. There are soldiers stationed there but they also come there to train for deployments 🩷
She said, "Boop Oop A Doop!" --- We get genuine chuckles from your throwaway comments. Another great vlog. Thank you!
30:36 went to la in august and drove to hhn at like 6pm and it was peak traffic time. It is INSANE how many traffic lights there are. You move an inch and oh youve stopped again. It took so so long
You’re gonna love the Fallout show omg 😱
Yayy for Disneyland!!!
Woohoo! Anaheim! Disneyland awaits. 😊
I have ridden the Desperado and the log.flume and it was a pretty neat roller coaster I rode it twice once in the front and once in the back and my brother and I had a good time on it we enjoyed that coaster
Those train cars might be for the bullet train from "L.A," to Vegas.
Great video Jackie! Driving a lot in one day can make you tired. I’m glad you guys had a fun day though! The hotel casino, where the roller coaster was looked really cool!! To bad though that they took it out! I like the diner you guys went to was really cute inside and in the gift shop with all the Disney stuff and your turkey sandwich looked really good with the curly fries!! so glad you guys had made it safe to California!! 😊😊❤️❤️
I had no idea the saloon from Fallout: New Vegas was based on a real place! We’ve really been enjoying this road trip. Thanks for bringing us along!
I am beyond shocked that they still have the tracks laying on the ground from SPEED THE RIDE! 1:48 🤯😮😢 That's so sad! That ride was so much fun and I think it's better than the Big Apple coaster at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino!
It’s so strange it’s been laying there all these years!
These abandoned buildings and amusements remind me of my grandparents' country general store in the foothills of NC. Built in the 1930's, it had the pot belly wood stove and a cash register very similar to the one in the video. In the early 1960's as a small child, I lived with my parents in the apartment upstairs. Eventually, it became a relic and was razed. Many fun and unique memories of people and happenings in that old place.❤
Jackie, I'm surprised Sam didn't hijack the video and drop in Lance Burton's Desperado escape. I tried to ride Desperado but I couldn't fit in the restraints(sad trombone moment) but I did ride on the flume, this was in the late 90's before the flume was interactive. Speed the Ride was the best coaster on The Strip. It shot out of the casino, left turn to a loop right next to Las Vegas Blvd, then twisting and turning to the spike. Sam's video about the ride was great.
I am not superstitious. Not even a tinystitious. So cool seeing the history though.
I’m super enthused the Bonnie and Clyde car is still at Buffalo Bill’s. I wish the rides would reopen. We stopped here several times (because they had a monorail).
I love your tie dye outfits!
Love your vlog, just finished it! Especially enjoyed the Buffalo Bill’s/Desperado part. Been there many times in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Sad to see it in that state now. I must’ve rode the Desperado 4/5 times!? It was a crazy and rough coaster! You literally get banged up on that ride! The log ride was alright, it was slow with animatronics. The drop was cool. I had Desperado merch(shirt/cap) unfortunately I lost it. Thank you so much for your video! Brought back a lot of Happy memories with my Family!!!
That train car was for the Bay Area Rapid Transit system, or more commonly BART. It was headed for San Francisco
Neat!! So cool to see on the road in transit like that.
The Desperado looks automated with no people. So if you win money at the slots, does the machine turn off too like the penny press?
You two have been doing some cool stops, and your entertaining personalities have always been a joy to watch you explore.
I love these vlogs! In this crazy world you spread sunshine and joy! Thank you!
We stayed at Buffalo Bills multiple times in the 90s the rides were great!
We stopped off at Buffalo Bills on a trip my ex and I took out to Vegas. We didn’t even know about it at the time just happened to see the coaster and stopped to ride it and the flume, it was super fun but rough. I have photos of us on it lol. Good times
So cool that you got to ride and have those photos. The consensus seems to be it was a rough ride.
I live in vegas and drive by area 15 every day and wondered if that big building was for universal. I remember riding that speed coaster and it made me soooo dizzy that I was seeing triple 🤣
I rode that roller coaster and got bruised up so bad. Lol. I miss the log ride. That one was my fave going there as a kid.
Everyone says what a rough ride it was!! So cool you got to ride both.
Our first and only trip to Vegas we rented a car to drive to Buffalo Bills to ride desperado. It was awesome for the 90’s. Then I wanted to step foot in California so we drove to Baker to see the world’s largest thermometer. At least the thermometer is still there. Buffalo bills casino is just too far out of the way from Vegas to be successful.
Welcome to the best coast.... hope you have a great time
Hey Sam & Jackie, well looks like y'all arrived for Disneyland for.Pixar Fest & Universal Studios Tram Studio Tour 60th Anniversary! & maybe look into Disneyland Forward, future plans for Disneyland including a possible 3rd park. Well, enjoy South California. I think you have already visited Knott's Berry Farm (my FAV theme park!) Maybe you guys should Tackle Magic Mountain & ALL ITS ROLLERCOASTERs, & Jackie i mean ALL of Six Flags Magic Mountains Coasters..... or at least, 7 of the most EXTREME Ones!!!
We had a ton of fun traveling along with you in this series! Looking forward to seeing your theme park fun!!!
I was driving around the backroads of southern Nevada once and dropped into the Pioneer Saloon hoping for a burger and a beer. I was seated and given a menu but I must have waited more than 20 minutes for service any nobody even came for a drink order. I left a little disappointed and haven't been back. There was a pretty good blues band performing while I was waiting. I'm glad you and Sam had a better experience than me.
It took a loooooooong time to order and to get our food so I feel you. We just waited since we had come all this way, didn’t have much of a choice and we were caught up in the excitement 😂
Oh, no, I hope the food was good. I live in the area so I can go back anytime. Maybe have a look around Boulder City next time you visit. It’s a neat little town.
Maybe that was Marine Corps Logistic Base Barstow. not much happens at a logistics base
U two r awsome❤ come visit cincinnati more so this fall to do some of are local hunts
I'm so glad you got to Good Springs this time! I love it there, and we always try to take friends when they visit. I remember when Buffalo Bills was a hopping place when all the rides were running. We took friends to Good Springs and then to the roller-coaster, I think maybe 7 or 8 years ago, when it was still running. It was a Fallout tour since they were fans of the game.
Hello there! I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed watching this cross country series. I've always wanted to go cross country in a huge RV and see all of the sights. I hope so one day... This was so cool and motivating. And YES watch the new Fallout show on Prime. It's FANTASTIC and HILARIOUS!! Every episode will grab your attention 😉
Congratulations Jackie and Sam on getting to Disneyland!
🥳❤🏰🎉
GREAT travel stream Jackie Thank You for sharing.
I'd go there for the Fallout stuff :D
used to stay at Buffalo Bills all the time when I was a kid! My siblings and I would get the all day ride passes and would ride desperado and the log ride over and over and over again. The log flume used to have an interactive game !
Great video!
My kiddo and I are doing a roadtrip to Florida from California and one of our stops is New Vegas I mean Vegas and good springs! Thank you for stopping at the places I wasn’t sure about! This is lovely and makes it all worth it! 👍💛💙
My friend and I would always beg my parents to stop at Buffalo Bill's during our family summer road trips so we could ride the coaster, log flume, and play in the arcade. I swear we would ride the Desperado so many times we would have bruises the next day. This was in the 90s and the vibes were exciting, definitely like a casino and an amusement park combined. We had so much fun, and it's sad to see how run-down Buffalo Bill's is now.
I love to travel, so I especially enjoy your road trip blogs. I hope you and Sam have an amazing trip.
Im loving the road trip so far and discovering new places you have never visited. It looks so quirky in Arrizona. Happy travels to you Jackie and Sam, all the best for the continuing journey ❤
We had THE best time watching the two of you go from Las Vegas through to Anaheim! all of the super kitchy little places you stopped looked like SO much fun!! you two are THE BEST!!!
Desperado being Magnum’s (Cedar Point) bigger brother, and at one of the many parks that scrambled to add their own coaster of that style, made it even better to get to ride it. Bug One at Blackpool is another of the post-Magnum giants by Arrow Dynamics.
New Vegas is my fave fallout game too I love it hours of fun
Oh! I love Sam’s Buc-Ee’s beaver t-shirt!
🎉glad you had a safe trip...let the fun times begin....looking forward to your adventures on the west coast. My husband and I were stationed in San Diego at NAS North Island in 1977 and married in 1979 in San Diego.
I remember going there back in early 2000s but couldn’t never find out were the coaster entrance was we were drinking to much lol love ur video. You guys should of at the alien beef jerky place
Another great vlog on this fabulous road trip. Loved seeing the Fallout stuff, the series is amazing you'll love it. Thanks for taking us along for the ride
Thank you so much for these fun and informative videos so happy you made it to your destination enjoy the rest of your trip be safe
You were in my backyard and didn't stop in to say "Hi" 😃 So cool you were able to get Goodsprings, and Buffalo Bills. Next time you're in the area, I can give you a few more cool spots to check out.
Hello Jackie and Sam txs for sharing your cross country trip and congrats you both made to Disneyland
I feel your doing my Vegas vacation except Goodsprings ranch! Goodsprings ranch is on the list on my next Vegas vacay! Also the Bellagio conservatory is beautiful from your previous video! I love staying at park MGM and eating at Eataly! The enthusiasm in your voice is contagious!
I remember when they built the coaster, always wanted to ride it. I pulled up some videos of it and the flume ride while they were in operation to watch after this. Good to see you two cuties having fun on the road! Best thing ever. ♥♥
I got to ride the Desperado. What I remember most is that my hair clip started to slip out of my hair, I grabbed it just as we went down the massive hill! When we got off the ride I had held on so tight to my clip I broke it! 😂
So fun to see it, sad it’s not running.
Thanks for sharing these awesome sights!!!
I’m a huge fan of Fallout. I played Fallout 4, and Fallout 76. But I haven’t played Fallout 3 and New Vegas. But I’ll try it on Xbox Game Pass. Also I watched Fallout on Prime. Can’t believe this is a real life Goodsprings from New Vegas.
Yea we finally started watching the show too and really enjoying it!! So cool!
Good morning jackie how are you happy Sunday morning and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter
Really enjoying all of your videos. From wet and windy Cambridgeshire in England. Take care guys. I'm off to Dollywood in September. Can't wait!!
Hi Jackie and Sam! I remember riding the log flume at Buffalo Bills in the summer of 2016 and it was so funny seeing all the little critter animatronics (and some probably legitimate taxidermy) in the theming. The coaster was still long closed by then but the log flume was a whirl!
I’ll say this first and foremost - Universal knew what they were doing, leaving so much space for parking! 😁 I was wondering all along how it was that Area15’s lots were going to accommodate the sudden surge in foot (and car) traffic. People will come from far and wide to walkthrough this experience, and we hope to be first in line! So very cool to see how far the concept has come in such a short amount of time. I actually didn’t know that Prospector Saloon was loosely derived from a real place; how cool to see the original inspiration for the devs and designers! And I see that the business owners have leaned head-first into that legend, too 😉 Haven’t seen the Amazon Prime show yet, but have also heard good things! Devastating to see that all of the attractions at Buffalo Bill’s are SBNO, especially because everything so well-themed. Wise response from Sam, let’s see the coaster make it all the way through the circuit before we commit to boarding haha we have watched Sam’s video on Desperado before, and we always thought it looked like a rough ride on its best day…but we both agree that we’d tolerate the headache for the super unique credit. 😂 The dinosaurs out in the back of the 50’s diner are arguably the best part. Wonderfully weird and wildly out of place, the quintessential Route 66 roadside attraction! Great video, as always ✨
Great trip thanks for sharing it with us all. ❤ back in the day (90s) we called it "state line" n it WAS HOT. The roller coaster n log flume were a blast there was little monorail that went to whiskey Pete's n the resturants steak asian pizza burgers, no need really to go another 40 mins to Vegas. It was alot of fun til a tragic murder of a kid at whiskey Pete's n it just went down after. Can't wait to see how you go home or if you fly home.love ya Sam n Jackie❤❤
Yay! You made it! Congratulations on an extremely successful cross country road trip!! We’ve been contemplating a trip West for some time now but will likely fly into Albuquerque or thereabouts and drive from there…you’ve inspired us! Looking forward to the theme park videos…I’m expecting some Pixar Fest!!
😍👍 Fantastic vlogs Jackie and Sam incredibly interesting and visually stunning! Thank you both so much 🙏
From a very much appreciative fan from Surrey England
Rachael Lopez ❤❤❤❤
haha you caught a BART train on its way up here in the SF Bay! great to see you explore all these parts of the Southwest. congrats on completing the journey.
Something you may have missed near Peggy Sue’s diner. The calico mine which is right across the freeway was also owned by the Knotts family. So it’s interesting that the owners of the diner worked for Knotts then reopened that diner. The impact one family can make. 😊
We went to Calico on our trip last year and loved it!! Here's the vid: th-cam.com/video/-YQzlM3-SEQ/w-d-xo.html
Welcome to my stomping ground. Traffic in LA is usually the worst in the afternoon, and thank you for noticing our insane gas prices 🫣 I'm trying to guess your itinerary. Still, without film dates, it's nearly impossible. My family and I will be attending the parks on 5/2 and wondering if we might cross paths by chance 🤞
I wanna go to Goodspring one day for the fallout event they have every year
Being a Fallout New Vegas fan myself, this was freaking rad!
10:37 omggg that ride looks so cool
18:58 “That was stupid.” 😂 Love it!
😂
Jackie the hanging in there joke was right up there with the Jungle Cruise 😂😂😂
hahaha I had to!
I came so close to being able to ride the Desperado, but then we didn't have time to drive out. I was trying to ride all the coaster in Vegas. I did get to ride New York and the coaster that went around the top of the Stratosphere (that is no longer there) along with some that were in the Circus Circus. Everything at Buffalo Bills looks so fun, it is a shame it isn't running. Always love a shootem up game. To have a log ride like that , so cool.
So cool you got to ride all those, we were bummed it was gone when we went to the Strat! Everyone says New York New York is really rough and it’s never running consistently when we go. But maybe one day we’ll ride it!
Fallout hhn house would be fun based on either the game or the show
IT WOULD BE SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOD!!!! Come on Universal, DO IT!!
Thank you Jackie. You are the best. 💙❤️🇬🇧🇺🇸
What a road trip!!!!! Glad to join you❤
That crazy Primm casino looks like some type of dark dream scape. I could not believe there were other people in there.
I couldn’t either! And it felt like a place you’d see in a dream, that such a perfect way to describe it. I feel like I’ve had dreams like that.
We stopped there once to ride those rides, and then my kid chickened out, so we didn't go. I now so wish that I would have just rode. Regret is real with that memory.
Sooooo Fun! Thank you for sharing your adventure! 🦋
Fantastic vlogg, was thinking of staying at the Clarion ourselves, next time as we always do Orlando, but this road trip wants me to do something different
