I love this game I have 4 vanilla, 4 Empires, and I'm considering buying 4-II just to get them all. One thing that disappointed me that I would love to see return for SW5 is an expanded Chronicle Mode along with improving the character creation and improving the character creation actually allow the option to select a Clan for them to join in the CaC menu and have that Clan choice actually have an impact on relationships and dialogue with other characters made within the Chronicle Mode.

One way is to make it only effective against certain infantry types. Man, I've been wanting to get back into Ikkitousen over the last little bit. Saw some volumes of the manga at a thrift shop, but they weren't in the best of conditions.
@@ChrisGildart I feel people write it off too easily for its fan service. Which, while I can see how it is an issue, rewlly undercuts the surprisingly high narrative value of the franchise.
One of the most confusing things for me is the Dash Attacks. I don't have an issue with mowing down peons, only that they travel too fast and outrun muskets. Sometimes, when using normal attacks on the enemy general, they didn't flinch when the blows landed. As if their feet is rooted to the ground. And I was really lost when I realized that I missed the original stories when choosing to only buy SW4-II ( I thought that the new one adds content to the existing version ). Besides those 3 concerns, there's a whole deal of compliments. One of the most in depth characters relationship development and character diversity. Hell, when I saw custom Guan Yu, I thought he'd truly be a Saint in here. A weird thing I noticed. The designs for level up notice is better and made you feel more accomplished. And I must be getting deja vu or it seems you level faster in this game.
I think in term of story and horses, i like SW2 better, also i like completing secret quest to get unique weapon and kther stuffs, i hate having to chase my own horse in SW4
Hyper attacks are imo by far the best addition to a Warriors game. Its like they decided "How can we make the player mow down even MORE enemies?" And they came up with hypers. I know its OP but I've always been OP in these games and it felt so satisfying attacking with massive momentum across the map.
i don't like hyper attacks at all. I prefer fight slow and contundent. with hypers, i feel like all this game is a rush. i want to enjoy every one of that flotating corpses . sorry my broken english XD
I don't like DLC like at all... I certainly don't appreciate having to pay money for classic outfits. DW5 for example gave you old outfits when you leveled them up. They could do this at the very least. Or like in DW3XL, Easter egg outfits existed for LuBu and SunShiangXiang.... If you completed certain criteria you unlocked the outfit. I miss that about video games.
I don't mind the DLC when they give us what they did for DW7, DW8, and WO3. SW4 was disappointing because we didn't get all the costumes like the others.
Probably the most fair and honest review of the Samurai Warriors 4 series. I'm a big Vita gamer. Have you played any of the Samurai 4 titles on the Vita?
I modded my ps vita so I can finally play all of the available warriors games. I’m working on Warriors Orochi 3 ultimate currently because WO3 Hyper was my first Warriors game.
SW2 is really good. I played the hell out of that with my friends. Both on PS2 and 360. SW3 isn't that great on Wii, mostly because it feels underpowered. But it's not a bad game by any means. Just wish we got it on PS3 in the west.
I think samurai warriors 4 is a good game but it's too easy not challenging. I agree about the hyper attacks I always felt like I had to use it and it took away from not using charge attacks and regular attacks as much. Also getting rage musou and musou is too easy everything in the game feels like a cake walk. Sw4 II feels like a waste of a Xtreme legends I wish I didn't buy it I also hate how the life bars never got bigger either that's stupid.
There are a lot of issues with SW4, but they're all minor as far as how much it impacts my enjoyment of this entry. Hopefully they figure out what to do with Hyper Attacks in SW5 and WO4.
Although SW4 is a much better game than SW3, I have to disagree on SW4 being the best in the entry. I feel like SW2 + XL is still the best among the SW games. The overly anime atmosphere of SW4 feels a bit off for me, I like the good old samurai cinematic feel of SW2. SW2 also feels more challenging compare to SW4. That's just my thoughts though.
This is one thing I love about the Warriors series. Since each entry is "the same game" with different changes it leads to everyone having their own favourite versions. I find it lends to some great conversations.
thanks chris, for giving your thoughts on samurai warriors 4 because i've been thinking of buying it. personally 1 more cons would no sugoroku mode. that's a great version of kinda monopoly game on the second one.
I enjoyed Sugoroku back in the day, but never felt like not having it was a bad thing. Though, it'd be cool if they released Sogoroku as it's own game with the SW4 content.
from my understanding Samurai Warriors 4-2 was only named that due to some dumb thing Capcom did, where they tried to Sue Koei-Tecmo for some thing regarding Samurai Warriors 1: Xtreme Legends, one being the vibration mechanic in the controllers. sueing them also for transfering save data from normal SW1 to the expansions from what i understood. So Koei was playing it safe i guess by just calling it SW4-2. cant say that excuses how mediocre SW4-2 was when they could of transfered the content from the first game into SW4-2 plus all of SW4-2's new content. though i also feel Naomasa being the only new character was pointless. which did bother some people. that said i do believe samurai warriors 4 is the best entry in the series even though i have no idea how they are going to incorporate the hyper attacks in the upcoming WO4.
I always figured the II in was samurai warriors 4-II refered to Ii Naomasa, rather than 2. In the same way that Spirit of Sanada focused on the Sanada. Although to be fair I haven't really played or researched it
I think it's supposed to be a mix of 2 and Ii, but it doesn't follow the Ii family like Spirit of Sanada does with the Sanada clan. It does serve as a psudo Xtreme Legends without the vanilla content.
Probably. If its true that they chose to not use Xtreme Legends because of trouble with Capcom, then the double meaning of II might have been a decent artistic choice
I find Sugoroku a slog now, personally. It was fun back in the day as the only way to play 4 player SW2. But my attention span has shortened even more as an adult. I blame the ADHD.
not to mention, SW3 played horribly on the wii, EVEN with the pro controller it feels painful to play a game that barely maintains 20fps! GODAMN koei, They Made the PS3 Z port exclusive to japan, because after playing it it's quite upseting that we didn't get the definitive version of 3
You can skip the story conversations in Samurai Warriors 4 simply be mashing the X button not to mention they can be skipped once you've already went through them the first time
I have a genuine question if you the chance. Ive spend dozens of hours playing DW8E. I loves every moment, telling my own story and with custom characters and playable children. But i love DW8 for the story. (I was watching The Three Kingoms TV show alongside me plaing the campains...) Im looking for a similer experiences in Samurai Warriors. But custom charaters are in both SW4 and SW4E. So ive been torn... would it better to shoot for empires or standard? I really can only buy one... so as a fan to a fan, which would you recommend?
If you're looking to build stories around the characters you create, definitely get Empires. Vanilla and 4-II don't really give the custom characters any chance to build their own stories.
RafaelAlCid personally, I’d buy samurai warriors 4 first. Samurai warriors 4-II is more of an expansion to samurai warriors 4. Battles and combat are basically the same. The main difference is that samurai warriors 4’s stories focus on the different clans or regions whereas samurai warriors 4-II’s stories focus on the characters added into samurai warriors 4.
@@TriAzF Thank you very much! hmm... I'm sorry to bother you again, but... well... what are the differences between the PlayStation 3 and 4 version? and what would you suggest me: to wait until I buy the PlayStation 4 version, or can Iplay the PlayStation 3 version with no problem? I ask this because, in the Dynasty Warriors 8 video from this channel, I was told that the Play 4 version was 60 fps, so, for me, I think it's best to wait until I can buy the play 4 version (Dynasty Warrios under 30 fps is... _different,_ hahaha).
RafaelAlCid I wouldn’t be too sure. I haven’t played samurai warriors 4 on the ps3 however I would say that it is similar to dynasty warriors 8 in that the ps3 version probably wouldn’t run as many frames to compensate for the ps3’s weaker power. Personally I would wait until you purchase a ps4 to get this game especially if it’s going to be a game you will play often.
I know this video is old but, Samurai Warriors 4 is just too easy. You can get the best weapon by doing the Chronicles Mode. After that, its just easy on every stage
My first game in the Samurai Series was Samurai Warriors Chronicles for the 3DS and after playing the spin offs (Fire Emblem, Hyrule, and One Piece) I'm thinking of jumping back to Samurai first, then Dynasty. So I have a question about SW4. I heard that SW4-II has more story from the first game but not much else so is it like and Extreme Legends to Vanilla 4 or will 4 and 4-II give two different experiences? Any and all info would help greatly, thanks :) (Also I'm going to be playing the games in order to see how they evolved, but I'm just confused about 4 and 4-II)
SW4-II is similar to an Xtreme Legends expansion, however, it does not work in any way with SW4. They have different methods of obtaining skills and stat increases, they also have different stories, and a different extra mode. SW4 has Chronicle Mode while SW4-II has Endless Castle Mode.
Other differences between sw4 and sw4-2. 1) hyper attacks would literally sweep the map by pushing peons forward and made it easy to rack up KOs in a satisfying way. In SW4-2, hyper attacks were nerfed in that the pushing effect was removed and they added more enemies to block you. For me, makes hyper attacks less fun to use but gives horse musou a purpose. I honestly like how broken hyper attacks are in SW4 because it keeps the gameplay aggressive and fast unlike some previous entries in koei. 2) sw4-2 has a new horse fusing system which allows any horse to be as fast/faster than matsukaze. I generally like this addition and hope its in future games. 3) character growth is different. Both games have a classic level up system but what differs is how the other stats change. In sw4, the more you use an attack (normal, hyper, special, and one more i forget) the stronger it gets. In sw4-2, you find tomes as a form of currency to unlock item skills and other passives such as “paladin” or more damage against officers. The sw4-2 board is honestly a chore, it creates a layer of grinding that doesnt exist in sw4 vanilla that takes away from the game. One example is that items arent shared meaning you have to unlock them for every character and there arent shortcuts, you have to almost everything to get every item. This makes training low level characters a chore since you dont have access to the EXP boost item right away. 4) the main story of sw4 is more coherent since it progresses chronologically and with different perspectives. Sw4-2 is more character focused and you’ll often run into the same maps for different characters. Naomasa Ii is the only new character and is definitely very fun, i climbed all of survival mode(?) with him. Not all maps from sw4 are in sw4-2 either. I started the 4th generation of SW on the empires game for ps3 and went backwards. Sw4E-> 4-2-> 4 and bought spirit of the sanada when it came out.while i enjoyed 4-2, 4 was more complete and was more satisfying to use the broken version of hyper attacks. Sweeping tons of enemies with it was always addicting. 4E is ok, but the lack of story takes away from the game. The best thing about 4E is the self insert and customization. Spirit of Sanada is basically a drama of the Sanada clan but in warriors format and does a great job of fleshing out that clan while adding in more rpg elements. It also balances hyper attacks to be better than in sw4-2 and empires but not as broken as in sw4. DLC. Fuck the weapon system, just buy the dlc weapons and you’ll have a blast. In SW4 the weapons have “stimulus” which boosts all your character’s stats including attack speed upon level up making the fast paced nature of the game instantly accessible rather than having to wait for an “attack speed” weapon stat. I also bought the horses because its nice to ride quickly early on andy they look good. My biggest qualm with the dlc weapons are in sw4-2 and spirit of the sanada. Attack speed makes the game way more fun but not all of them have it. While not all characters need it for the game to be fun, it definitely slows the pace when you have to use a character without an attack speed boost. While i love all 4 games in the 4th gen, my two favorites would be Sw4 as 1st and Spirit of the Sanada as 2nd. Empires is fun for self inserts and 4-2 is fun if you want extra side stories for many of the characters.
@@moomanchu608 Woah that's a whole lot of useful information I'll definitely keep it mind. Oh now that you mention it, how does empires play? I've looked at some gameplay and the closest thing I can compare it to is Pokemon Conquest on the DS. I haven't played any empires games prior. When you beat a characters story what can be carried over to the next? How does the leveling system work? Is there anything to do once all stories are beaten or will they take a lot of time to complete? Any an all info would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
@@ChrisGildart is the vanilla version everyone got their own story ? Like the samurai warrior 2 ? I heard the 4-II story is per clan only not individual
Vanilla is the same as 4-II. It's not quite clan based but it's more like a group of characters that would have similar stories if they all had individual. Like Yukimura, Kunoichi, and Nobuyuki would only have one or two stages different. So rather than give each character 4 stages, you play through 6 stages and can choose your characters before each stage.
I never played any warrior game aside from the pirate warrior spin off, is this a good one to start on or pick up? Ive actually seen sw 4-II on sale and was curious about it
It's a shame that Samurai Warriors 3 is the last Samurai Warriors game to have English voice acting and heck, if they could draft some of the Dynasty Warriors English voice cast to do the voices, it would be cool
@kenshi jin Okay, how does that help when I'm in the middle of a level focusing on the action? I need to listen to the dialogue to know how the battle changes. Dumbass.
I have to admit the only reason ive never played/bought 4 is the same reason i havent done so for WO4. Lack of a complete game. 4-II is missing all the vanilla stuff and Vanilla 4 is kinda wonky in the story mode telling and mechanics. Spirit of sanada only focuses on sanada family. Why couldnt they just make 4-II a complete edition like the my did with DW8?! Then it would be an easy decision. I guess ill never get to enjoy 4 cuz theres no way im buying 2 or 3 different versions of the same game
I will say that the story of Spirit of Sanada is very much worth it. I'd definitely recommend it over SW4, SW4-II or SW4E. Though Empires is pretty decent, all things considered.
@@ChrisGildart does dw8 suffer from the issue of allies not pushing with you? I played dw5 and I really enjoyed seeing allies in another part of the map push. Sw4 sadly also has issues with this and I also don't like how allies straight up ignore infantry and only go for officers.
Dynasty Warriors 8: XL/CE has the juicy option of doing hypothetical routes which not only allows certain characters to avoid their demise and lead their respective kingdoms to victory but in order to do so, star objectives must be completed i.e. defending a particular officer from getting whacked
I have Xbox/PC/Switch so as far as I can tell I have no way to play the base version. 4-II is on PC but what people say about preferring the basic version puts me off, would you guys still recommend?
6 empires was the best empires game. Fight me Also, Hyper attacks ruined 4 for me. And 4 Empires felt like a total grind even with it's improved empires mode.
Because voice acting can be expensive, especially if you want good actors. Koei is trying to lower their cost in localizations by not dubbing their games. It's unfortunate, but a lot of Japanese publishers are doing this if they don't think their game will reach the sales they want.
I'm surprised that so much emphasis is placed on costumes, I'll never understand why. I did decide to purchase this game because of your review, thank you. Samurai Warriors 5 doesn't interest me, not sure why though.
my first samurai warriors game was 4 empires and the only reason i grabbed it was because i couldn't find dynasty warriors 8 empires and the funniest thing about this is the fact i asked my dad (this happened when i was 16 but 21 now) if i could go into the game stop and grab a game he knows i play dynasty warriors and i play it a lot he made a joke about how it was Japanese instead and as a joke i said how did you know so yeah kinda funny look back on it
I bought sw4 not to long ago. And man I’m kinda disappointed. I don’t like the hyper attack system at all. Literally spam all game mindlessly on every stage. And also my teammates does nothing all game. Like I could stand for 15 mins and everyone would just stay in the same spot or my allies would just get ready to die. There is no advancing unless it hits something scripted. You literally have to do everything in the game like I’ve never seen any of my allies able to push through a wave of enemy or kill an officer by themself. which for me becomes a bothersome. It’s like doing a list of chores.
I would say to get the vanilla game unless you're looking for more strategy, then Empires. I would only get SW4-II if you find the gameplay of vanilla needs some tweaks.
I personally prefer Samurai Warriors 4 to 4-II. I like a lot of the mechanics that were implemented in 4-II, but I like the amount of options and gameplay modes in vanilla.
I just pray to the gods that koei will remove the fucking hyper attack in sw5 it just too annoying and make the stage so easy and eww...i just perfer the sw2 and 3 when enemies just kicked my ass until i cry...tbh i really really love the sw3 bcz the visuals were amazing and i wanna see them in better graphics like ps4 or something but yeahh nevermind=)
I second this, I'm fine with hyper attack but one thing I noticed is the foot soldiers in SW actually fight you in my opinion. I could be in the middle of my 2nd or 3rd chain attack, SW foot soldiers are on my butt lol 😭😭 DW foot soldiers are kinda blah and lack design.
Hyper attacks are legalised cheating, Hyper attacks should be only used against officers like Dw8's storm rush system as opposed to Hyper attack destroying all PEONS. REMINDER EVERY SAMURAI IS NOT A LU BU. Koei dropped balls heavily on 4.
I have started recognizing some Japanese characters, or knowing which option is accept or cancel. Other than that, it's a big nope on the reading or understanding part.
Honestly, with Super Moves in 5 to add to its Musou Attacks, it flows fairly different compared to Dynasty Warriors. I'll leave it up to debate whether button-spamming combos or Super Moves is the lesser fun-killer of the two. DW8E CaW made it fun to experiment with characters and find what fits your moody. I'd say the same for SW4.
@@ChrisGildart I've been playing SW2XL on emulator recently and it slaps so hard! There's a true widescreen patch, 4k resolution, limitless FPS, and various other visual enhancements. You can even simulate the 'disk swap' very easily so you get all the content from the base game and the XL expansion. The gameplay feels so grounded and weighty, but still allows you to pull off the character's iconic combos. They just feel more realistic and everything you do feels like you're making a true impact on the battler. Taking down captains and officers or even just enough enemies in a unit makes the everyone else flee in terror. The sense of progression in terms of abilities and power feels fluid and consistent. Assigning your own bodyguard unit and personal horse with unique stats feels awesome too. The voice acting is lame for some characters but for others it feels so genuine and emotional. The stories are amazing and the cutscenes convey so much through so little. I don't understand why the SW series only seems to have gone downhill from here.

SW2 truly raised the bar, SW4-II is great yet the game was too easy because of the Hyper Attack. I hope SW5 will be relatively harder to SW4
Here's hoping they either refine the Hyper Attacks or remove them for SW5. Would prefer to see them just rebuffed a bit because I see their potential.
This dude clearly likes costumes, but what about the gameplay buddy 😂👍🏾
The Gameplay of Sw4 is inferior to Sw5 but better than SW3
Probably the most fair and honest review of the Samurai Warriors 4 series.
I'm a big Vita gamer. Have you played any of the Samurai 4 titles on the Vita?
The only one I've played on the Vita for Samurai Warriors has been Chronicles 3.
Thanks.
Is that worth buying? I've always been unsure of Chronicles 3
@@loveofmangos001 It's different. I haven't had much experience with it, but if you see it on sale, I'd say pick it up.
I modded my ps vita so I can finally play all of the available warriors games. I’m working on Warriors Orochi 3 ultimate currently because WO3 Hyper was my first Warriors game.
Hyper was a good time. I played it a lot with a good friend of mine.
I really like SW4 and SW4-II but SW1 will always be my favorite. never got to play 2 or 3
SW2 is really good.
I am very glad you rated SW2 a 9 out of 10. This is my childhood game. I spent 10 months playing it from the Winter of 2009 to Summer of 2010.
I HAD OVER 200 HOURS OF PLAYING ON MY XBOX.
Dynasty Warriors 9 and Samurai Warriors 4 are both visually striking
Can't wait for this year's musuo May.
Same here dude! :D

I'm honestly surprised this never made it to PC.
4-II is still a blast. I really enjoyed it.
A little shame this game still not available in PC, instead the II version is available lol
thanks chris, for giving your thoughts on samurai warriors 4 because i've been thinking of buying it. personally 1 more cons would no sugoroku mode. that's a great version of kinda monopoly game on the second one.
I enjoyed Sugoroku back in the day, but never felt like not having it was a bad thing. Though, it'd be cool if they released Sogoroku as it's own game with the SW4 content.
Samurai Warriors 4 was a nerfed version of Samurai Warriors 2
sw is koei's new favorite son
I fucking loved hyper attacks!
I wish samurai warriors 4 would come to the xb1.
Same. Though I play on PS4, my fiancee plays Xbox.
SW2 on PS2 and SW3 on WII, I love both these games.
from my understanding Samurai Warriors 4-2 was only named that due to some dumb thing Capcom did, where they tried to Sue Koei-Tecmo for some thing regarding Samurai Warriors 1: Xtreme Legends, one being the vibration mechanic in the controllers. sueing them also for transfering save data from normal SW1 to the expansions from what i understood.
I'll be interested to see what they do with hyper attacks as well.
I love how much Oichi appeared in this video 🖤, I love these games a lot, I unfortunately missed out on sw3 and it’s reallllly irritating
SW3 wasn't too bad, but the Wii was definitely the wrong console for it. If you don't mind playing in Japanese, I'd recommend playing it on PS3.
good video
I'd say notification squad or something cringey like that but in truth I'm first because I have no life
I didn't even know there was someone who had notifications turned on for this channel. You just made my morning. Thank you!
Also, even if the game doesn't follow the Ii family the same way, it is still the first game where Ii Naomasa is playable
Nice character photo
Thanks
the nobunaga's face was kind of "childish", I found it strange ...
Samurai warriors 2 was waaaay better....
Soguroku.
GODAMN koei, They Made the PS3 Z port exclusive to japan, because after playing it it's quite upseting that we didn't get the definitive version of 3
The PS3 version is so much better and I think it's more than just a bad decision on Koei's part not to release it in the West.
(I was watching The Three Kingoms TV show alongside me plaing the campains...)
Im looking for a similer experiences in Samurai Warriors.

What's the difference between Samurai Warriors 4 and Samurai Warriors 4-II?? what should I buy??
RafaelAlCid personally, I’d buy samurai warriors 4 first. Samurai warriors 4-II is more of an expansion to samurai warriors 4. Battles and combat are basically the same. The main difference is that samurai warriors 4’s stories focus on the different clans or regions whereas samurai warriors 4-II’s stories focus on the characters added into samurai warriors 4.
@@TriAzF man, *thank you very much!* this clarified everything to me🙇
RafaelAlCid no problem, glad I could help you!
Not to mention the DLC weapons are OPAF.
Want to get back into samurai warriors after having played sw chronicles on the 3ds when I was little. Should I get 4-ii or empires?
I would say it depends on what you want. I personally prefer the base games to the Empires titles, so I would go for SW4-II.
@@ChrisGildart I see, so they do give two separate experiences. Thanks so much, I'll be picking them both up once a sale happens!
Chris Gildart i cant believed i typed a mini essay in a comment LMAO
@@moomanchu608 Woah that's a whole lot of useful information I'll definitely keep it mind. Oh now that you mention it, how does empires play? I've looked at some gameplay and the closest thing I can compare it to is Pokemon Conquest on the DS. I haven't played any empires games prior. When you beat a characters story what can be carried over to the next? How does the leveling system work? Is there anything to do once all stories are beaten or will they take a lot of time to complete? Any an all info would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
So which one is better? The vanilla or the 4 II ? I want to take spirit of sanada and one of em
I personally ally prefer the gameplay balance of 4-II but I like the extra mode in vanilla more. So I guess it depends what you're looking for.
@@ChrisGildart ahhh okay thanks for the explanation, im gonna get the 4-II then, once again, thank you sir
I never played any warrior game aside from the pirate warrior spin off, is this a good one to start on or pick up? Ive actually seen sw 4-II on sale and was curious about it
SW4-II is a pretty decent starting point. Other games I could recommend as a start would be DW8XLCE, WO3U, and WO4U.
Nah start with Samurai Warriors, gameplay is more smooth.
I prefer 4, because it has Chronicle mode
But 4II has better looks, HUD, and gameplay
I would've enjoyed this game a lot more if it had english voice acting.
Welcome to the spanish experience. you read a language not native (english) and hearing japanese voices. that for every warrior games xd
Dumbass.
Then samurai warriors 4 empire is only the mode empire of samurai warrior 4?
@@ChrisGildart Thanks then Ill take your word for it and try Spirit of Sanada. Your pros vs cons of Spirit of Sanada was very convincing too lol.
And where's my girl Natoro
Never played any Warriors game. Which one should i buy? Samurai 4? Orochi 3 or 4? Dynasty 8?
I would personally recommend Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition if you can get it. Lots of replayability.
Samurai Warrior 4-2
@@ChrisGildart does dw8 suffer from the issue of allies not pushing with you? I played dw5 and I really enjoyed seeing allies in another part of the map push.
Sw4 sadly also has issues with this and I also don't like how allies straight up ignore infantry and only go for officers.
Dynasty warriors 8 Xtreme legends complete edition
Dynasty warriors 5
Samurai warriors 1
Dynasty Warriors 8: XL/CE has the juicy option of doing hypothetical routes which not only allows certain characters to avoid their demise and lead their respective kingdoms to victory but in order to do so, star objectives must be completed i.e. defending a particular officer from getting whacked
I can tell you like ghost type Pokemon just like me haha and sw4 is my second favourite but I've not played it too much

I have Xbox/PC/Switch so as far as I can tell I have no way to play the base version. 4-II is on PC but what people say about preferring the basic version puts me off, would you guys still recommend?

It's a decent fighting game. I'll probably do a review of it some time.
is there something like an "ultimate" version?
Unfortunately no.
so better 4 or 4-II? wich is longer and more playable?
I find SW4 is best for story and replayability. SW4-II is best for overall gameplay mechanics and balance.
6 empires was the best empires game.
Fight me
Also, Hyper attacks ruined 4 for me. And 4 Empires felt like a total grind even with it's improved empires mode.
So ehm, I have a question, what should I get for my PS4??? SW4, or, SW4 Empires?
SW4 first if you like that one then get empires imo
Why is there no dub in SW4 but there was in SW3?
Because voice acting can be expensive, especially if you want good actors. Koei is trying to lower their cost in localizations by not dubbing their games. It's unfortunate, but a lot of Japanese publishers are doing this if they don't think their game will reach the sales they want.
@@ChrisGildart i like you chris but when people say this, i cringe...if a indie game can have english vas any game can PERIOD

It's only subbed, like WO3U.
Not a single word on musics, shame on you !
my first samurai warriors game was 4 empires and the only reason i grabbed it was because i couldn't find dynasty warriors 8 empires and the funniest thing about this is the fact i asked my dad (this happened when i was 16 but 21 now) if i could go into the game stop and grab a game he knows i play dynasty warriors and i play it a lot he made a joke about how it was Japanese instead and as a joke i said how did you know so yeah kinda funny look back on it
I bought sw4 not to long ago.
How do you access the previous dlc scenarios from 4 to 4ii
You can't access previous scenario DLC, only costumes, weapons, and horses.
@@ChrisGildart damn so i wasted my money

@@ChrisGildart would you reccomend sw4 over sw4-II?
@daveellerton7564 it depends what your looking for. This might be a good video idea. I usually say SW4 for story or SW4-II for mechanics.
