I was out on mine the other day before the weather got two hot exploring looking for somewhere new to ride and I had a couple people that didn't look happy but I had more positive reactions and I got talking to one bloke who was really interested asking alsorts of questions and was surprised it's not road legal he took a photo of my surron and he seemed really interested on getting one himself
love your vids keep up the great content. quick question if you were ever to be stop by police and you was riding sensibly and they were going to seize off you would you let or would you run if you had the chance and also i just got the surron 2023 off road LBX i am scared to ride it on road in case they seize it off me so going to use it for off road use only .
hey man thanks for your support. I guess it comes down to the situation on the day. I have many occasions where i have been seen by police and had no bother. But, a guy I ride with had his seized the other day. He was riding sensibly causing no issue. He was actually stationary at the time but the copper just said he was was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They are defiantly clamping down so just be careful.
I absolutely love these bikes, been riding for 30years. It's the way some people ride em, balys on riding 50+mph up footpaths, and as they are fairly quiet, certain "business men" ride "parcels" up and down towns in the dark, as they think police won't catch them lol. Good content tho bro 💯
You right, fuds don't like ebikes cos they don't fit into a predetermined slot ULEZ so funny that's why they don't like anything they can't make dollar from so Rishi can give it to his fam innit
Im in love with them, always wanted one and I’m so close to getting one but I’m scared to get it take off me by the police and they aren’t cheap… even tho I just want to do a few trials and rides couple times a week. Also what phone mount are you using
They are good for summer use but seriously winter black ice in the dark sliding out onto on coming traffic i have a full motorbike license and that's the reality wearing fully body Armour and a helmet as well plus the fact a hot engine underneath you and even a 15 min journey in winter will turn you numb with frost bite.
id love to get a surron for all the environmental benefits, but to go through all the effort to make it road legal i might as well just get a regular motorbike for day to day travel, which is such a shame because these bikes are so cool.
Surons are not peddle assisted e bikes they are electric motorbikes/dirt bikes. This is the issue, you are riding on footpaths where dirt bikes are not allowed. I go green laneing on trail bikes a lot but you are only allowed on byways and you still need the bike to be road legal, registered, taxed and insured. Electric dirt bikes are no different. The more people that ride unregistered electric motorbikes on foot paths the quicker we are going to lose all rights over the byways.
Mine is pedal assisted with a restrictor to 15mph. Go back and check other videos on this. The fact is we are going to lose all rights anyway. Unless, they are government owned. This is the point I’m trying to make with the scooters. Appreciate the comment though man 👍
@@southcoastsurron Putting pedals on one of these and acting like they're not an electric light dirtbike when you push the restriction button is a bit like cutting a whole the floor of your car and Fred Flintstoning it just to go places you legally aren't allowed lol. I get your point though. Big fan of my Surron, and a bit bummed that I can't just go on some trials that'd be really dope for them. From my own anecdotes, I feel like most people hate the riders moreso than the vehicle itself. People are only starting to get acclimated to eMTBs on MTB trails, so I feel like vehicles like ours still have quite a bit of time until they're more accepted (even though I'd argue Light Bees don't belong on an MTB trail and should use MX trails, even though they're in a mostly unchartered middle ground between MTBs and MX bikes). Here in Germany the laws on street legal Surrons and the like are at least understandable, there's no real misunderstanding on what they are. They basically count as mopeds/mokicks, restricted to 45 kph (I guess that's 30 mph?), have to get an insurance plate, not allowed on bike paths downtown, etc. We've got other issues, like the 45 kph limit not making sense when the speed limit downtown is 50 and naturally everyone goes 5-10 above so you're just always holding up traffic in those zones. But I digress. Had no idea about the scooter situation in the UK, it sounds a bit like they're testing the waters allowing rentals but not allow people to buy their own? I get the cynical attitude, but we've seen similar things over here, so as a glass-half-full kinda guy I'd kinda hold out hope that if these trials go well, they'll allow people to get their own, too.
Its just a convenient way to get a powerful bike so its popular with delinquent urban youths that dont care about being civilized, or worse. When you have to make a DIY e-bike there is some level of effort and learning skills that these youths probably wouldn't bother with, and at the end of it the bike you get is usually slower than Sur Ron. Your one looks very cool. I think people are becoming more aware of e-bikes in general this year and they are more wary about it or have formed opinions.
I ride my 1000w bafang mid-drive anywhere and never get stopped by the cops because I ride respectfully on the road and sidewalk, but I don't own a 250w bike, my other two bikes or 750w I would love a Sur-Ron but I feel I would get stopped riding it 😎👌🏾
I got attacked , left unconscious by thugs on these bikes, has left me terrified to go out on my new bike now,It’s those ones who spoil it for everyone
I owned a vector vortex for 4 years. High powered ebikes are conversation pullers. People seemed very interested to know about it. Car drivers hated me,ole bill hated me... Believe or not some people see me as Robin Hood regarding the laws lol. Battery technology is poo! High powered ebikes way way to expensive *sigh* I miss my vortex bigtine, ole bill don't tho
I have a Talaria Sting. And like a Sur Ron it has no pedals. It's a motorbike. And it's illegal to ride motor bikes on footpaths and bridle ways. People who like quiet walks in the countryside have every right to hate people who ride illegally like that (they don't hate the bikes). As both a walker and a Talaria Sting owner I get quite angry about people who ride them on footpaths. But I love the bike. It's just some of the idiots who ride them that are the problem. I do hope you are not one of them. Because if you are, you are jepordising our right to use e-bikes (not motorcyles) off road.
not at all man and i completely get it. You can see from my videos, i get nothing but love from people i ride past. Like i said in my video, most are intrigued about the bike and want to know more.
@@southcoastsurron As a fellow South Coaster I am very glad you do not ride on footpaths or bridleways. It is a temptation I find hard to resist (but I do).

The uk i starting to look hella wierd with cameras that tax you for driving cars and banning e-scotters and then renting them out lmao
Makes no sense I know 🤷♂️

Awesome to hear this fella. Thanks for the support. Ride safe man 👊
