Meredith your videos are so touching. I love seeing your farm, animals, and equipment and the affection you and Lawrence have for your children, your land, and each other.Ok
So very much of what you share in your videos I have experienced as a child on Grandpa Shelton's farm. I remember the St. Francis river flooding (early 50's). I read a little ditty once that said "after all the effort, time and money I spent going back to my childhood home I realized that was not what I wanted; it was my childhood that I had wanted all my adult life . . ." I think many of the old timers who watch your show remember flour in a bag, lard in a 5 gallon can, cast iron skillets and a huge black kettle in the yard. Life was good even though we were very poor. But we were happy and contented - because we didn't realize we were poor. Thanks for the videos. Blessings.
Wow!!! What a crazy amount of water!!! On the plus side it might make your land more fertile. Glad you guys live on high ground. Oh and it was sooo cute seeing Austin laying on your shoulder! She looks so much like you! She's a lucky girl! Keep your chin up cause God's got you guys! NEVER lets his people down without a way back up! I'm praying for ya!!!
That rain and flooding is horrible. I hope it stops soon for y’all. You are amazing person and such a good example for people of this world. And you have a wonderful family. God bless.
It was nice to see you so touched by the Ball you photographed. You're a good human. Thanks for sharing your lives with us! PS... The steaks were wonderful!
When Mother Nature opens Pandora's box .. which she does at times, and throws everything at us that she has at her disposal .. "I always remind myself" that there is still "something" in the box after everything else flies out .. and that "something" .. silver lining called hope .. very often, works out ok in the long term. Cheers and thanks for sharing this ...
It rained 4in in just a couple hrs here but we're at the bottom close to the beach (N.E.Cape fear river) so it comes down hill. We didn't flood on our place but did with some neighbor's. But was the best time of the year for it to happen. Wish y'all the best. Thanks for sharing with us!
I love you Meredith. A mother and a farmer's wife seeing what nature does to the way you live. You have such a wonderful way of looking at life on the farm and your love of your children and the admiration you have toward your husband. I love seeing this and I admire you for it.
Mere, I am so sorry about your flooding, it really seems to be a odd year. Many places have flooded this year, that you normally don’t see in January and February. I know seeing it in your heart that it’s painful and sometimes it feels like that you couldn’t handle one more negative thing. But, please remember that we even far away love you and your family and pray every day for your success. God Bless little angel for you are the best.
That's always terrible to go through. We farm alot of bottom ground too. The only silver lining is that water is bringing in more silt and nutrients for next year. My daddy always said that floods were what made bottom ground so good it's just hard paying the river tax. (Lost crops)
It is amazing tribute to you guys,I love ❤️ how the cows are trained, they just stand real close by, aren’t they beef stakes at some point, probably real good, no chems, I love it and I love your blogs the logs they are nice to watch I hope it’s you have a good crop this year after the rain it’s not rained out here in California forever seems like we don’t get a lot of rain these days in the desert I’m a car farmer they don’t eat much ha ha LOL ha ha LOLthanks you guys,BigAl California.
Thanks for sharing your daily adventures. Glad the flooding wasn’t as bad as it could have been. Always nice to see your positive outlook to things. Beef and butter Yummy 😋. Stay safe warm and dry.
On our feed bunks, we put a rubber flap on both ends. When it gets moisture in it I just prop a rock under one end and raise it up a hare and lift the rubber on opposite side and moisture drains out. Works for us! Great video and good luck after flood goes down.
Always impressed how you and Laurence keep smiling and joking, hope that river goes down quick and leaves your barley ok. That is a serious skillet, you've had your workout just cooking dinner :) you all stay strong and healthy.
Surely glad that you are real. We all forget. My husband loves beach music. He also loves Eastern NC barbs from McCall’s in Goldsboro. Rest is good for you. All men love westerns. That’s how I cook ribs, but I put the sauce in crockpot and let slow coon 8 hours. Falling off the bones is the best. Just loving catching up on your videos.
Thank you for sharing y'alls time on the farm with us,I enjoy farm life better than any other,I especially enjoyed seeing y'alls country side,I have a cast iron skillet similar to yours,I think mine may be just a tad bigger,or may be the same size,I use it only for large meals, again thank you for sharing the videos with the world, may the LORD continue to bless you and your family.
Our church also hosted Night To Shine last Friday. This is the fourth year. All 200 spots were taken early last Fall. Buddies were found for all, gowns and tuxes collected. Two limo companies came to provide rides around the neighborhood, dropping guests off at the front door - red carpet walkway into and through the building. Guests/buddies did dinner, another separate dinner for parents, guardians, or whoever brought the guests. The night ended with games and a dance with live DJ. Yes, it is truly a night to remember for many people, not just the guests, but also for those serving. It was a big undertaking, needing nearly 400 volunteers. Yes, one professional photographer from the church did photos all night. This sounds like your volunteer assignment.
Good Morning Sorry about the flooding you and your neighbors are experiencing. Love your videos including the whole family. Your husband's isms are precious! Keep up the hard work. Take Care - prayers and good thoughts to all of you!
I'm so sorry about the flooding..we always had flooding in the Fort Benton MT area! At least the livestock were safe, and always remember.. it could be worse!! So, keep your smile on, and keep on keeping on!!
My wife and I were down in North and South Carolina back in 2009. I remember we ate at a little country cafe called Earle's Grove Cafe. I was a very tasty burger and fries. Nice friendly cafe. My wife has family in South Carolina in Seneca. We really enjoyed going up into the mountains down there. We are looking forward to coming back. I remember a waterfall that you can drive your car under it.
Hello sweetheart!. My husband & I watch y’all!!. We love all your videos!’. Felt bad for you on this one with all the flooding!. But you guys are a inspiration on your determination you always have. God bless you guys !’n🙏🏽❤️🙌🏽
Hi, we've had major flooding and storm force winds here in the UK, 80mph. But like your farm the land looks so beautiful just in a different sort of way. Love the vlogs, be safe.
Good video Meredith hope all is well and dry well the ground won't be dry for a while . I am in central Mississippi we are getting more rain we was dry for 2days but got lot of heavy rain today Monday some creeks already out their banks . Yal be safe & dry
Girl, I am so glad Sandi Brock recommended your channel to her followers! I love watching you and am going to binge your videos for the rest if the day! And , yes, I am now your follower too!
Hi Meredith. There is a technical expression for that amount of rain......Aaaaaagh. It can also be used when the tractor won’t start or the cattle get into the neighbours. What you have there is a double Aaaaaagh with an extra helping of Aaaaaagh. Stay warm, safe and keep smiling. Weather rubbish here too.
I watch your channel because I like it and I can get weather reports on how much rain we are going to get along the Cape Fear River in Cumberland County. Michael flooded my field next to the house and up to the side of my house so we went canoeing in it. Happy Farming. ;-)
That clip of your husband calling the power company was great I can only imagine he reacted the way I do when getting a machine vs. person. We got flooding as well in SHELBY, NC
Do you guys have a tucker on the farm , Lawrence knows what it is ? It could be helpful to get the roadways back in shape when it dries out ? It may HELP in the future , stay strong , stay safe ! Bob Marino , we care about your family , special family !
Well, we've had it all this summer on the east coast of Australia. Humongous bush fires from Queensland, through New South Wales and into Victoria & South Australia, and now.....Rain, not just any rain, but that solid sort of rain that lasts for days on end, and now... it's flooding, everywhere. After 6 years of drought, this is usually how it ends.
Had pretty weekend in Ky. February 10 rain all day. Rain till Thursday. 15 low. 35 high. Friday wind chill 4 degrees. Wet or cold here. Wishing river go down. All rain here go south of you.
Be glad the cows have hill ground to roam, instead of the bottom. Hopefully the barley won't be under water to long. I'm sure you all will have some fence to fix also. Take care!
feeling so sorry for you both , its tough battling the weather . england gets your weather a few days later. 75 mph gales , floods , powerlines down etc . even thunder !
Love Short Ribs & yes NC has been in the News lately Flooded unbelievable it will drain fast tomorrow is another day greener grass rich soil great Crops FarmLife ❤️❤️ like us living on Gulf Coast weather conditions and Hurricane season 🙏🙏
Feel for you guys, we got a bunch of rain here in middle Tn also. Gatlinburg got slammed. Sadly we have a full week of rain for cast here and I'm sure it's heading your way. Hang tough. Thought and prayers.
Hi Meredith, the flooding and rain, rain, rain are incredible. We're praying for you guys. Your attitude is so wonderful. The rain will end and the sun will shine again. It looks like Lawrence's altitude is so positive as well. Inspiring as we sit in the snowbanks. You didn't mention the peppers and I saw the large container so I know you love them as much as I do. You're inspiring on getting the steaks out -- and with that lovely butter. Thanks, Meredith and I hope the sun shines bright for you and family soon. - Dean from Minnesnowta
I am glad so many are watching your channel to see what it's really like to farm. The weather is a constant impediment and can cost you great amounts of money. We play the odds against Mother Nature every year. Sometimes we win, sometimes she does. At times I wonder if we are all fools for the gamble we take. Truth is, I cannot imagine doing anything else, nor would I want to. I see your pained smile and feel bad for your family. Keep your chin up, you're doing great things.
Praying you and your family with all that rain. You are one heck of a cook, all your food makes me hungry. Lawrence is upset about all the flooding. You two could write a book on mudolge 👍😂. The only thing good about the flooding is that it brings more soil to the ground.
Like you, we’re TIRED of rain here in the Carolinas! I know we’ll be wishing for it in July, but for now we need sunshine! Hang in there guys and keep your water wings close by, lol...
Twister is one of my most favorite movies! Infact it has been raining, and thunderstorming here in Ft. Worth for the past 3-4 days now, and I think that would be a good movie to watch tonight!...😳😲😱🌩🌧☔🤗😁👍
Hello Meredith you and your family will be in my prayers I'm from Beaumont Texas we know all about flooding pest 3 years our city has been flooded twice it's not good but like I say I will pray for you trying to have a good day and just relax there's really nothing you can do until the rivers subside
I just started watching your vidieos a month or so ago. I can’t wait till this summer to see you good folks feed on DRY LAND!....and Meridith your style of cooking brings back so many memories of my childhood at grandmas house. If ever the need was to arise that you needed to cook for the public I know for a fact that you would be second to none! Lawrence is a lucky man...the way to a mans heart is through his stomach LOL!....you can tell it by the way he grins at you.
Boy, you’re getting your share of moisture!! Bad thing about flooding is when it recedes, logs and trash seem to appear!! Hope it gets better for you all ......
Wish I could send a photo from here last Saturday we had snow and the Tennessee river was flooding at the same time hang in there it's got to get better
You made me pan fry a Porterhouse steak last night in butter. Added a little onion and garlic. I was delicious and so tender. No more grilling for me. Butter works. My dad used to always butter the steaks as they came off the grill. But pan frying worked great.
Our weather has been odd this year as well. The last 2 year's we have had 4 to 5 feet of snow by end of February. This year we have mabe seen a foot of snow total. It started out really cold in September down in the low 10s F then warmed up to 50s by Thanksgiving and just today we had 50 degrees here in Northern Idaho. I'd rather have the frozen ground and snow than the mud.
you sure know now to look on the bright side of things. More people should be like you. one time, many years ago we bout ran out of food, except for lots of beef in the freezer
Hi Meredith, Lawrence and Family (animals included)! So sorry for the flooding, at least most of it comes from all of the housing plans here in PA, they pave EVERYTHING, now we get the flooding where we didn't have it before, and it is running down South to you! Progress I guess. How about some decals for the farm equipment "TCB" (taking care of business-BTO)? I just knew that there would be BUTTER! Thank You!
I am sorry to see this Meredith.here in Houston we have seen a lot of places that flooded that never use too.i always blamed on all the construction new homes, shopping centers, roads there is no place for the water to go
I had never had a cast iron cooked steak before I started watching your channel. I always used to grill or broil them. Now in winter time it's my favorite way to cook them, since my grill is buried under a foot and a half of snow out on our deck!
Great video again love it all. Steaks looked delicious. I got a set of chain on duals that would fit big Betty , but lb might not be able to get close enough to the bunk to throw it in. I'd give to ya Bless y'all . More is weather pattern bout tha same here .rain rain rain 😁
Wow ,let us have more rainy days, and real nice voice again comes out of you , you really need to think about putting out a song or two, or more ,Meredith you have a vary Beautiful voice, you could sing the phonebook ,come on, nice 👍 I’ve been looking in on Tara, thanks BigAl California,(the car farmer lol)
Wow, the river bottom is sure full. I can see in Lawrence ’s face how disheartening it all looks. I bet the cattle will be glad when the mud dries up. Hang in there, weather will bet better. Sure hope so. 🙏🙏
Even through all the rain, mud, and the power outage you still find a way to smile. You are a beautiful and amazing person inside and out.
Meredith your videos are so touching. I love seeing your farm, animals, and equipment and the affection you and Lawrence have for your children, your land, and each other.Ok

Your ability to take the knocks and come back fighting is so inspiring
River bottom is a blessing. When there is a drought you can still plant crops at least for seed next year.
So sorry for your loss I hope you fair better then it looks.

Thank You!
I am sorry to see this Meredith.here in Houston we have seen a lot of places that flooded that never use too.i always blamed on all the construction new homes, shopping centers, roads there is no place for the water to go
Look!
Love the wind chimes!
I'd give to ya
Bless y'all .
