I started spraying my roots with ACV/water mix along with my pre poo, to calm my scalp and break up any build up. Either as a final rinse or sprayed into my deep conditioner….game changer. My hair still feels clean but it doesn’t feel as stripped as it usually does i think it’s bc it drops the ph of the shampoo a bit. As a final step in my routine my hair just feels smoother and sleeker. I’m excited to see what doing this over the course of the year does to my hair.
Same - I spritz it on 15-20 mins before shampoo and as a final rinse after deep condish; I'll never do without this step. My hair feels so soft, is more manageable for styling and overall smoother and shinier. I honestly think it's due to incorporating ACV/water
I found that plant gels (mushroom root, aloe vera etc..) also have the same effect of moisture retention as well. Will incorporate your method as well.
It's cool how this video came after i watched curly chemistry's video yesterday. Tonya said that adding ACV on top of her DC has been such a game changer. I can't wait to try it. Thank you for your content 💕
I did it recently….truly a game changer. It’s like magic, it makes any conditioner have slip. I had an old twisting butter i never use but had good ingredients, i put it in my hair and sprayed ACV on top, it even made that a slippery pre poo.
@@dominiquereece8545 so what I personally do is dilute some acv in water and put it in a spray bottle. I apply my DC (preferably one that smells really good to help with the acv smell) and spray the solution onto my hair. You'll notice it makes the conditioner foam-like. Almost like shampoo. The slip it great! I do it almost every wash now. Acv rinses and using hair grease again have been positive for my hair
I am so glad that I now know I have high porosity hair. The low porosity hair girls and their methods caused a lot of damage to my hair. These methods are methods I used to do when I first went natural.
That's good that your hair can take ACV rinses on wash days. Some people's hair can't. My cousin did them once a week as well & her long pretty hair was long, stringy, ate out, & unhealthy & had to be cut many inches within one year. That acid was eating her cuticle, shaft, & all of her hair out over time! That was a few years ago & without using the ACV so often (2x in 3 years) her hair is back to being healthy & long. I guess her hair couldn't thrive with it as often as your hair can.
@@brittanymilgan if you’re not diluting it and putting it on your hair once a week of course it’s going to eat through your hair. You’re using too much too frequently.
Cool steam vapor is good for high porosity. I had a tool that I bought from china a long time ago and I’d use about once a month. It stopped working and I tried face misters and they didn’t work as well. If you can try it, it’s pretty smoothing but it’s hard to perform…since pretty no one has products for high porosity hair. Great video but question. So if apple cider vinegar closes cuticles and returns normal pH, how will styling products work if they just sit on the hair strand?
I have few questions for you, do you use clay mask? And if yes how often? Also would this steps be right? 1.Infuse water in your hair 2. Deep conditioner 3. ACD rinse 4. Wash it out in cold water with conditioner to close the hair follicles
Will this also help stop the ends of high porosity hair from tangling often? My daughter’s hair is high porosity. Before I’m done moisturising her entire head, it’s already drying out and even detangled and moisturised ends are tangled again.
You helped me so much because I was putting blue magic directly on my scalp lol and I was wondering why my hair was so fucking itchy and had hella dandruff thanks I’ll give the apple cinder vinegar a try 💖

Hey Nadine :) I love your channel because its coming from an educated perspective. may you please do a video on what you should do with relaxed hair to retain moisture and which products are best.
Thank you! I did last week and I THINK I a was able to see a little curl definition, but not sure. Will test out again next wash day which is tomorrow. Again, thanks for answering my question. ☺️
Hello! I’m a protein head so I use products containing protein in my DC o use bond builders every wash day and do a heavy protein treatment at least once a month, xx
yes but i would recommend ACV after the dryer stage, because ACV seals the cuticle and Heat opens the cuticle therefore would be counterproductive but would still work!xx
Thank you for this video. Must i use it when applying my deep conditioner and then rinse later or can i use ACV as a hair rinse? And should i use them when i apply protein treatment?
You can use it as a hair rinse! (Not as a shampoo alternative) which is how I used to use it but I found sealing my cuticle before adding moisture in stopped my DC from penetrating enough which is why I started applying after my DC xxx
Wash (the deep conditioner and ACV) out with shampoo again or do you mean rinse it out.? Confused (because wouldn’t the shampoo open the follicles again?) Thx, very informative. I will try ACV😊
I don’t co wash either . I don’t understand the point 😂 I also use my conditioner after I deep condition. I’ve seen a real change in moisture retention.
Happy I found your page. I have a question/request: Can you do a video on humectants and the weather? My hair is really high porosity, and using any kind of humenctant (man made or natural) works so against me 😢. Meaning I can never where my natural hair out/down because the humectants work too much with the moosture in the air. So for me the whole: draws moisture to the hair is good, is actually a bad thing for my hair. 😢 Is Acv rinse really enough to seal my cuticle? Im looking now into products that are really low in humectants, but most of the time They are thick and full of oils and make my hair greasy and weighed down, so then i feel the need to use a little heat to stretch my style (after it has dried) just to get back Some volume (else my hair looks like a wet dog who had almost no hair😅)
Hey! Sorry for my lateee response! && yes as a first I’d try ACV which will help seal your hair cuticles, also I know silicones are a swear word but they could actually help in your case! They’re more lightweight than oils Etc and still form a protective barrier over our hair to protect from the environment xxx
I have the same issue. I live in the southwest Florida. The only time I can use a product with glycerin is when I’m going to rinse it out. Otherwise I style with products that have little to no glycerin in them such as Kinky Curly Knot Today and Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I don’t use silicones because I don’t use conventional shampoos - they strip my hair way too much, including the non SLS shampoos. I use only clays and herbs to cleanse my hair (with ACV mixed in them of course 😅).
How much Apple Cider Vinegar and water ratio do you suggest we use to lower the Ph level? I hear so many different ratios. 1 part vinegar to 6 parts water one chemist told me. I have heard 1 teaspoon to 2 cups of water from another chemist. What do you suggest? These other chemists are still saying we have low porosity hair. I would like to know your suggestion if you don't mind. I am trying to get my hair right.
I personally use a 1:3 ratio. You could start with 1:4 I honestly think you can work the ratio up as your hair starts to get used to it that’s what I’ve done, xxx
Wait, you spray the acv onto your hair while the deep conditioner is also in your hair? I always see people saying just to “rinse” the hair with acv at the end when the conditioner is already rinsed out. I just want to clarify so I do it right.
Thanks so much for this video❤ I just found your channel. You mentioned that steaming high porosity hair will raise the cuticles too much. That is sooo true. I will use the apple cider vinegar rinse🙏🏽💞 What do you recommend for someone like myself? I have high po, looser curls through my whole head, EXCEPT for the whole front "perimeter only" of my hair I have 4c and low porosity😢 (You know the part when you get a sew in weave, that front section of the hair thats set aside to cover the weave tracts after sewing the hair. The leave out part.) That part of my hair just hardly ever absorbs the conditioner, products will just sit on top in beads. I haven't found my hair twin on yt yet lol How can moisturize my low porosity section that happens to be the front perimeter of my hair? Any tips🤷🏾♀️😚💗
yes especially in curly state its better to use a heat cap than steam if you want long term moisture retention! I'd only recommend steaming for straight haired people who will inevitably straighten their hair which seals their cuticle with heat!xxxx
Yess I mix it because I don’t want To apply ACV after deep conditioning and remove the product I’ve found mixing works well. I also use heat that’s a non negotiable for my DC routine but be prepared for extra frizz due to heat, but once your hair cools down the balanced PH will still make sure your cuticles are sealed! I need to do a more in depth video xxxx
agree mostly, no-one has dry hair BUT OPEN CUTICLES BUT does hair-conditioner clog the cuticles?? We need something with low ph that has no or a pleasant smell
I have done this But I’m unsure about the effects of leaving ACV on hair for extended time, it can be irritating to some but honestly I also don’t notice a hugeeee difference when I leave it in 🤍🤍
Hello, thank you so much for your videos, I have been learning and following. I have incorporated Olaplex no. 8 because of your advice . Where would I use it in this routine? After I have rinsed out the deep conditioner and ACV rinse? Thank you
I've noticed that most store bought aloe vera juice has lemon in it for a preservative. Could this be sprayed on the hair to keep the cuticle sealed throughout the week?
Wait so you don’t wash out the deep conditioner you just apply the acv right on top? Also can I use a regular conditioner to rinse out the acv and deep conditioner or should I just not use a regular conditioner? And after this routine do you have to moisturize / do an LCO routine/ apply any extra oils?
Yes! So I apply a deep conditioner a couple seconds later apply ACV mixture then work in. (This seals the moisture from the deep conditioner into my hair) Keep the “mixture” on for 20 minutes or however long you deep condition for. Then rinse. I used to apply the ACV before the deep conditioner as ACV has cleansing properties but I wasn’t absorbing as much DC as I’d like. When I applied it after deep conditioning I’d find it would almost remove the deep conditioner I applied on so applying simultaneously has been the sweet spot for me😌 I no longer use leave in conditioners/creams/oil because ny hair doesn’t need it (if your hair does keep doing it but you’ll find the more you seal your cuticle the less extra products you’ll feel the need to add, especially oils) but my trick is when I apply my conditioner I rinse out most of it and leave a little in my hair. Rinse out&leave in conditioners are formulated the same so it just cuts out the extra steps and products. Then I’d style with my styling product (gel). Sorry for the big fat essay🤣🤣🤍🤍
@@naturalnadinee Hi Nadine! Thanks for this video. As the last step of my wash n go, I use a gel at the end for definition and hold. I have yet to find a gel with a low pH with good hold. Thank you! I did last week and I THINK I a was able to see a little curl definition, but not sure. Will test out again next wash day which is tomorrow. Again, thanks for answering my question. ☺️
Aren't leave in condittioner already formulated that way, since they are finishing products
Yes conditioners are formulated to neutralise the effect of shampoo but there’s not many that are at the optimum PH to do so
So when would you add protein in this regimen? Thanks!
Hello! I’m a protein head so I use products containing protein in my DC o use bond builders every wash day and do a heavy protein treatment at least once a month, xx
Can I put a cap on my head and sit under the dryer with apple cider vinegar with the deep conditioner?
yes but i would recommend ACV after the dryer stage, because ACV seals the cuticle and Heat opens the cuticle therefore would be counterproductive but would still work!xx
Great video
Thank you ❤ 😘😘😘
Thank you for this video.
Do you wash the apple cider vinegar water out of your hair??
Yes I apply it on top of my DC so when I rinse my DC I also rinse the ACV xx
Thank u💕
@@naturalnadinee One more question when you rinse it out do you rinse it out with warm water or cold?
@@janeenprotain1084 warm, my hair doesn’t take well to cold water at all xx
I'm thinking of replaceing ACV with fermented rice water since rice water is also acidic and it adds protein. Is this a good idea
Rice water has too much protein for me to use regularly but so I wouldn’t recommend but your hair might react differently x
Wash (the deep conditioner and ACV) out with shampoo again or do you mean rinse it out.? Confused (because wouldn’t the shampoo open the follicles again?) Thx, very informative. I will try ACV😊
Hey girl just rinse not wash with a shampoo my bad!xx
Thanks for your quick reply!@@naturalnadinee
I don’t co wash either . I don’t understand the point 😂 I also use my conditioner after I deep condition. I’ve seen a real change in moisture retention.
Happy I found your page. I have a question/request: Can you do a video on humectants and the weather? My hair is really high porosity, and using any kind of humenctant (man made or natural) works so against me 😢. Meaning I can never where my natural hair out/down because the humectants work too much with the moosture in the air.
So for me the whole: draws moisture to the hair is good, is actually a bad thing for my hair. 😢
Is Acv rinse really enough to seal my cuticle?
Great video. QUESTION: what do you think of clove water/ oil for hair growth?? Any thoughts??
I haven’t researched enough to know 😭 I’ll get onto it and come back to you xxx
I'm really confused now on porosity.
Don’t be! I would honestly say to watch the part 2 video on porosity it’s not as simple as we’ve made out but it’s also not that complicated xxx
Once the acv closes the cuticle how are the leave ins oils and/or butters supposed to get into the hair?
Wait, you spray the acv onto your hair while the deep conditioner is also in your hair? I always see people saying just to “rinse” the hair with acv at the end when the conditioner is already rinsed out. I just want to clarify so I do it right.
Yes whilst the DC is in my hair xxx
Thanks so much for this video❤ I just found your channel. You mentioned that steaming high porosity hair will raise the cuticles too much. That is sooo true. I will use the apple cider vinegar rinse🙏🏽💞
What do you recommend for someone like myself?
Yes!!!!!! ACV reigns supreme :)
she is that GIRL!!xx
Just curious. If you workout everyday, are you just doing a wash more often?
Pls do you apply the ACV to deep conditioned hair before going under a heated bonnet or after?
Before the heated bonnet mostly but sometimes after, I don’t really notice a difference xxx
@@naturalnadinee thank you
So wash first, deep conditioner and then tone? Can I use a leave in after I tone?
Yes you can! & I tone and DC simultaneously Xxx
Acv on top deep conditioner, can u use heat? I'm confused lol
@@naturalnadinee Thanks 😊
So should we use hot or cold water ? Hot when washing cold when rinsing conditioner??
I always use warm water I can’t do cold water 😭 but if your hair likes it then not bad xx
@@naturalnadinee thank u ! I use to use cold but iv been using hot
Where’s the video about it co washing ?
agree mostly, no-one has dry hair BUT OPEN CUTICLES BUT does hair-conditioner clog the cuticles?? We need something with low ph that has no or a pleasant smell
Hello, so I need to use ACV after shampooing my hair and before deep conditioner or after deep conditioner and on top of it? Thank u
I would start by using it after shampoo, I have changed my routine slightly from this! I now apply ACV on top of my deep conditioner xxx
What’s your opinion on just doing an acv rinse as a final step after deep conditioning, you don t rinse out the diluted Acv
I have done this But I’m unsure about the effects of leaving ACV on hair for extended time, it can be irritating to some but honestly I also don’t notice a hugeeee difference when I leave it in 🤍🤍
I know this video was made 2years ago but I do have a question.
Do you have to wash your hair in cold water or Luke warm water?
4:20 tone hair
Where do I include flax seed gel mask for moisture?
Can i use the shea Moisture Jamaica black castor oil hair masque that have apple cider vinegar?
Yes absolutely, xx
Im a male but ima subscribe to you cause this helped me out a lot
Everybody’s welcome thank you🤍🤍
Hello, thank you so much for your videos, I have been learning and following. I have incorporated Olaplex no. 8 because of your advice . Where would I use it in this routine? After I have rinsed out the deep conditioner and ACV rinse? Thank you
I will give these tips a try, thank you
You’re welcome! Thank you!🤍🤍
God bless you 🫂
Of we Don’t have apple vinegar, should I apply conditionner after the Depp conditioner?
I've noticed that most store bought aloe vera juice has lemon in it for a preservative. Could this be sprayed on the hair to keep the cuticle sealed throughout the week?
Depends what the PH is but I doubt it’ll be low enough to PH balance the hair xxx
@@naturalnadinee thank you 🤗
moisturize then do acv?
Thank you!!! I used a boar bristle brush today to push through the natural oils of my hair and detangle.. boy did that smoothe the cuticles down!
When I applied it after deep conditioning I’d find it would almost remove the deep conditioner I applied on so applying simultaneously has been the sweet spot for me😌
I no longer use leave in conditioners/creams/oil because ny hair doesn’t need it (if your hair does keep doing it but you’ll find the more you seal your cuticle the less extra products you’ll feel the need to add, especially oils) but my trick is when I apply my conditioner I rinse out most of it and leave a little in my hair.
Most are ph of 6-7. Would this reopen the Cuticle and cause a big swing in pH? Any recommendations? Much appreciated! Thank you.
@@whatoncewas8480 have you tried aloe vera?
So after I washed out the deep conditioner I spray in the apple cyder in my hair? Or I spray the apple cyer while the deep conditioner is in it?
Hey girl spray on top of DC! Works better for me I have a tutorial on my channel xx
Dies this help with tangles? My 4c hair tangles after wash..before wash....at anytime
I find it does a lot! And a few people who have tried this method commented the same xxx
Trim your ends
Is the ACV rinse to close the cuticle the same thing as when people rinse with cold water to close the cuticle?
Yes! But cold water only temporarily seals the cuticle adjusting the PH will have more lasting effects x
@@naturalnadinee thank u💖💖
After spraying my hair with apple cider vinegar do I still seal my hair to retain moisture?
Yes you still can, i dont because my hair is trained but you can xxx
Hello, is an AC rinse suitable for fine high porosity hair, please?
Yes perfect for high po and fine hair strands just make sure hair is moisturised first
