honestly an amazing video and genuinely hit me in my heart. i do economics in my own life and i really expected an experience that's not game theory and maximising equations and functions. definitely empathise in your pursuit of passions and feels like an absolute slog trying to get through it, but i still have a smidge of hope knowing i do have a passion for the big picture of things. love the michael reeves mention as well 🔥
The advantage of doing engineering is that you know how to build a ramp! In a more literal sense it can also be a way to get unto film sets. Things like lighting, set-building, advanced camera systems, and so on are all easier if you know some engineering and have that engineering-y mindset! Hope you get far my dude!
I am in a similar situation. Difference being I do enjoy my history degree. But I really want to become a video editor. The money is a strong motive, but ultimately I just want to create things. I want to be part of a creative process that involves a degree of quality that wouldn't have been there before. I want to ensure that specifically the audio part is perfect, that's the part I always had an eye, or I guess ear, for and that's the part I've invested the most of my basic editing skills into previously. So now, I want to develop it further. I want to make something sustainable out of it. My history degree will help me, as it is amazing for analytic and writing skills (contrary to popular belief, most of history at higher levels isn't just memorising facts, it's about critical analysis and debate). I can definitely use those skills for semi-decent employment. But to become a video editor will require dedication that I am fully willing to give.
I did exactly this, built my portfolio, posted on social media and it got me a job in content creation. You're videos are amazing, keep posting, keep learning and you're gonna be sailing before you graduate bro ❤
I'm a senior in college and it feels like I'm hitting a wall where what I want to do with my life and what I have to do with my life feel irreconcilable BUT who says I can't just build a big ramp? Create a new job that incorporates both? Who's REALLY keeping me from what I want to do (other than myself)? Great video. Color grading, audio, edits were sick. Keep up the great work- you already know you've got something.
I recently graduated and I have to say that I feel the worst I've ever felt. I have a trainee job lined up and I've been working in the meantime, but I look back to my time at university, a time that I didn't enjoy, and I just want to be an undergraduate again. You realise how good you had it when you leave university and quickly realise that university, studying, school is really easy and such a privilege to experience. The people that left school at 16 and immediately started working are the hardest workers out there. I've been on a honeymoon for years and don't want to leave. I want to be forever young, naïve, transitionary. I've been thinking of becoming a vagabond recently, a wanderer: taking a tent and putting all my belongings in a bag and just walking across beautiful rurality. I would sleep for as long as I want, stay as long as I desire and move when I want. People complain about their degree or their study, and while I can appreciate your complaints, you MUST understand that life essentially ends after university for many people. Perhaps I'm just lazy, dull and arrogant but you should enjoy university. At least Scotland has four-year degrees, so you get to waste more time than I did (very jealous). It's good to have a passion though; my passion is architecture, but it's not the type of thing you can enter willy nilly. But I think most people have similar experiences to me but I'm just very scared of being old and being unable to romanticise my problems. People want 'young love', not 'love'. In this same sense, my angst is only tolerable to me because I am young.
i’m doing the same thing but i’m a senior at penn state. i realized after getting off set with kevin spacey the other day that i didn’t get into this to meet famous people or be in hollywood. i want to make my own videos on youtube. i have 1 semester left, and im trying to buy myself time. my parents want me at a steady job but im definitely going to be a youtuber lol
I'm so glad I came across your channel! I'm in a similar boat atm, about to start uni and want to do film junk, but also not wanting to be broke... lol. I'm excited to see what you get up to!
I believe in u bro, i'm in a very similar position except im in my first year of uni doing IT and business somehting that relatively interests me but making videos is a much stronger pasion of mine so I can signficantly relate to u, it's definetly painful but as long as you're trying your best every single day that's all that matters 👍
I actually love this! I've honestly been feeling a similar way. I can see you're going places as far as filmmaking is concerned thought, because you have a great sense for telling a story with this medium!
Quality, quality videos and filmography, but sadly few ones to enjoy in a dormant channel. Hope you find energy to produce more, that is amazing production!
Exactly in same situation , pursuing engineering in electrical and electronics ( and i hated it , basically i chose it as a backup option if my dreams failed 💀 ). Tried doing a business involving handmade rugs which failed b4 it could start ( issue with suppliers, but didnt lose money) , did a sorta digital marketing business ( hated my co founder) and now after these reconnected with my friends who I'm known since 6 ( I'm 22 ) and built a creative agency based in india , it's a slow process bc of starting and learning things but its cool ( i do get anxious a lot bc i sometimes want things to scale up faster). And now I'm using this venture as my ramp ( but this ain't no escape ramp ) to pursue making music and films , and also to fund my various starups which i wanna explore in. Would love to collaborate with you in future!
Well, you are where I was 3 years ago. Did I make what I wanted to make? No. My anxiety has eaten me alive... but I'm still there and even with the job (or lack of it at this moment) I can still be creative. Still show what I'm capable of. I'll try my best to make something meaningful, what shouts "ME" in a creative way. Slow and steady, without deadline. But in a reasonable time :)
DUDE!!! I feel the same way as you!! Just subscribed. Im exited to see how everything works out for you. I can tell your very talented. I know how hard it is to upload and worry about other aspects in life, Im in the same situation as you. Im glad I clicked. Keep it up bro!
